Great people with good values :)

The staff are friendly enough when you speak to them but a number of HUGE mistakes we're made during mine my fiancee tenancy with them.

A number of times we were not notified about gas inspectors or other maintenance people coming to the property and once I even found a man from Amber gas walking around the house. Thinking it was my fiance, maybe come home early from work, I went half way down stairs, not wearing very much. I was hysterical when I realised it was the gas man, he'd let HIMSELF into the house! I was petrified and the incident made me extremely ill, as I suffer with 3 serious medical conditions and also anxiety.
Similar happened just before we moved out when I found 2 men wondering around the garden. Again they failed to tell us they were coming. This actually breaches the agreement we had with them. Had i known they would keep most of our deposit i would have got legal advice.

We asked for various things to be done while we were there, including painting, which we actually offered to pay a friend (who is a professional painter ) to do, all we needed was permission but they ignored our request. The paint at the property was rubbish. It was like chalk and the walls could not be cleaned. It just smudged. When we moved out, the charges they charged were absolutely disgusting- including the painting which we had offered to pay for. They also made us pay TWICE for the carpets to be cleaned. We had already had them cleaned, then my fiance inspected. There was no sign of moth damage whatsoever. They emailed saying "after we had the carpet cleaned it was clear there was substantial moth damage". A, if it was only noticeable AFTER they cleaned it again, how were we to know. B, our lawyer said it is very difficult to spot moth damage unless it is obvious and it is MOTH damage NOT caused by us and C, it SHOULD have come under wear and tear. We were there for almost 5 years and they didn't even bother telling us where this month damage was meant to have been. So they not only made us pay for a carpet cleaning, after we had had it done but to replace the whole carpet aswell. Everyone we spoke to about this is disgusted.

We are appalled by it all really. We understand landlords are allowed their property back, but when we moved in we stated we wanted it long term. There was no warning, no reason given for our eviction and the property. I was seriously ill and hospitalised in January, then wheelchair bound while trying to find a new house. We were good tenants and we may now, thanks to these people and the greedy landlord never be able to buy a property of our own as it cost SO much to move, then we lost a lot of money the deposit.

I'm glad estate agents can't charge fees anymore. As I say, friendly enough people to speak to but I don't feel we were particularly well treated. Our old neighbors tried to break into our house. We told them about it and had called the police. The door handle remained wobbly even though we asked it to be fixed.

I wish them well but I am certainly happy we are under a more professional estate agents now.

Latimer have offered great understanding and service since I started renting with them, they always offered notices for viewings and any maintenance work. They were clear with the payments I need to make, very attentive to any of my tenant needs.
Recommend them highly, especially if it’s your first time renting. Have read the other reviews and they seem about anything else but the service they provide.

I would never recommend this agency.. it lacks a certain professionalism. We saw a flat, a beautiful place after 6, we were really interested in renting it and the lady saw that we were excited about it... even phrases like" how much do we need to give to secure the property" or " we don't want anybody to snatch it from is" or "we'll come tomorrow afternoon cause we're both working during the day" could give a hint that we really wanted to rent that place.. next afternoon when we went to start the proceedings we were told by her colleague that the flat is gone and somebody else came in and left the deposit.. I was fuming.. this type of behaviour makes me lose trust in people.. they don't care about their clients.. don't use them..

I wouldn't even give them one star if I'm honest. Rude and unhelpful, when I questioned the cleaning bill after the tenancy was over I was spoken to in the rudest manner. For somewhere with over 30 years experience, they are impolite, slow to respond to messages and complaints, and aren't useful at anything.
They tried to move us out of our place early because of new tenants wanting it earlier, which to me shows they don't care about their tenants.
I would never recommend them.
