In my second year of university, i was unfortunate enough to have rented from Graham white. Absolute nightmare of a human being. With a quick google search you’ll find that he is a drink driver who crashed his silver Range Rover into a bush in Sylvan Road. He intentionally sabotaged his breathalyser test and blamed it on the police attending to his incident. Our house had a leak (clearly from the shower), and it was painted over. I leant on this wall and it immediately caved in. Our floor next to the fridge sunk below the houses standard level. When we left the house, we were charged with a £300 fine for removals (we left a boxing bag in the shed thinking that the next tenants, a group of lads might enjoy it). We had this bag in the garden for the entire year and were not told to remove it at any point. If you are a student and you’re fortunate enough to see this review amongst the other awful reviews for McKinley White, take the advice. You’re better off paying more per week just to avoid this pretentious, pugnacious, piece of tut.... Read more

We rented a McKinley White property for two years as a student couple. We were lucky enough to live in the same block of flats as Graham, with him on the top floor, and us on the bottom. Graham was fantastic - responsive, helpful and understanding. Any time there was ever an issue in the flat, he would be around to check it within half an hour of the email being sent, and if the issue needed external people in, it was usually fixed within the week. He let me into the flat on a number of occasions when I’d locked myself out (oops), often checked around the flat whilst we were away to make sure it was ok, and brought in our post etc. He even held onto packages for us if we were out when the arrived! Graham rented to me and my friend for three years. Communication was always fair and speedy, and during a summer overlap he even let me keep my stuff in his garage until I returned and moved into another of his flats. Very helpful all the time.... Read more

Really rude agent with no communication skills, do not bother! My son and his friends were looking for accommodation in Exeter. This agent doesn’t deserve anyone’s custom. Can’t even reply politely to emails and calls to make an appointment. Avoid. Whether you’re a landlord or tenant there are professional agents and companies in Exeter, go to them instead.... Lived at the Red House (bills included in rent) September 2018 - August 2019. All maintenance requests went through the letting agent. I didn’t have hot water in my shower when I moved in. It was fixed a week later, but only after I said I would withhold rent if it wasn’t fixed. The WiFi stopped working twice, each time for more than a week. This could have been fixed sooner but the letting agent took a long time giving the engineer the correct admin logins. One of the four gas rings on the hob did not work and another only worked rarely. The letting agent was informed of this and made no attempt to fix it. A kitchen cupboard door fell without warning, almost hitting my flatmate. The letting agent only seemed to be concerned with the small dent made in the worktop that we didn’t notice until a few days after. I also requested that the lock on the door to the flat be changed as a few people from the flat upstairs could unlock it with their keys. The letting agent all but called me a liar and when my guarantor phoned to help sort the situation out he (letting agent) was very aggressive and kept telling her to be quiet.... Read more

The agent whom I spoke by email when trying to let a property was very friendly at the beginning however got very impatient and defensive when asking questions about electricity and bills, seems to be hiding something. Also for a viewing during term time flats were empty which is unusual and may be a sign that something is up. Would NOT recommend letting with these people!... Read more

Terrible experience. I highly advise students to avoid this agency at all costs. Please be very careful. Of the many things that happened during my contract, the worst was when several valuable possessions "disappeared" from the flat (this occurred when the agency was given access to the apartment whilst the tenants were absent). In addition to this, several items of clothing were found mixed with waste when I returned to the flat. The landlord did not hold himself accountable for the disappearance of the objects, despite having promised (prior to their disappearance) that the flat would be in "good hands" when the access was granted. Despite approaching Graham civilly, he was extremely rude/aggressive and, unfortunately, couldn't be more unprofessional when dealing with the situation. Sadly, this kind of conduct has been experienced by plenty of students.... Read more

Would not recommend. We had an 11 month tenancy which was a complete joke from start to finish. As you can see from my emails sent to them within the first few days of entering the property it was littered in issues. We had no heating or hot water for months. They brought people to view the property on numerous occasions without 24hr notice whilst we were in bed and just let themselves in. There are far too many issues to list, but they then had the audacity to try and charge £170 for a new blind and oven clean, despite already agreeing to fix it at the start of our tenancy. I had to spend weeks finding spare parts and screws trying to put half the house back together. I wouldn't not recommend. The service was awful and the response from both Graham and Jasmine were very distasteful. **Update, we won our appeal. Clearly they weren't very happy about this and resorted to name calling and threats. Not the most professional of services. See pictures attached to follow the events.... Read more

Mckinley White were a nightmare to deal with. Graham White and Jasmin-Crispin Vile were both extremely rude and unhelpful at best. Don’t expect to see your full deposit back because what is normally considered “normal wear and tear” apparently warrants £50 to be deducted each tenant’s deposit (6 tenants per flat in our case). In 2 years of living in the flat we: - didn’t have heating for a whole year because Mckinley White refused to admit the heating wasn’t working (which was confirmed the second year by the plumber) - didn’t have wifi for 3 months - the fire alarm was faulty and rang for 6 hours between 10pm and 4am with no possibility of contacting anyone from Mckinley White (forcing the tenants to spend the night somewhere else). This incident revealed that the fire detectors were not kept up to the required standards therefore making the flats unsafe. Not only were these incidents just a few examples, Mckinley White was extremely rude about them, blaming us for them and making us pay the rent in full (all bills included tenancy) when evidently some services were missing.... I emailed to inform the agency that my situation had changed in the interim period of me waiting for the current group to confirm that they would still be living there next year, (which would allow me to move in with them).
