My sincere thanks to Rob Kenyon at Suttons City Living (and his colleague Karen) for their expert guidance and knowledge in helping me to sell my property. I am so glad I went with them. They were so helpful throughout the entire process and made the sale totally stress free. All the staff at Suttons were fantastic and were a delight to work with. They promptly resolved any minor issues that arose during the sale and were very helpful in chasing other parties when needed. My thanks to them all.... Read more

STAY CLEAR OF SUTTONS CITY LIVING My previous tenancy was approximately five years long, the tenancy was placed under new management during the last year. Since this transfer, I have experienced the worst case of customer service that finally led me to terminating my contract in November. Firstly, I had reported numerous repairs that needed to be addressed. I was initially told that I was being 'added to a list', months later I had requested an updated only to be told that the same maintenance guy was to visit my apartment to record the same repairs (that I had also provided picture evidence for via email). This repair request actually lasted for seven months - during which time I was continuously fobbed off. The repairs were never addressed even though I had e-mailed regarding mould, ripped carpets and an infestation of bugs due to a huge gap around the bath (see attached images). Also, the neighbours in the apartment block were not emptying their bins and caused a huge collection of rotting garbage left at the rear of the building. This issue was reported to Maaria Khan of Suttons only to be ignored for several weeks. Her initial response was that 'the issue had been reported and it was being dealt with'. This issue was left for a number of weeks - during which time the neighbours had proceeded to use my personal bins. When the maintenance man eventually attended the property, he proceeded to take all of the garbage and fill my bins with it. When I told him I now had no room for my waste he advised me that 'This is what Maaria has instructed me to do'. I then had no choice but to move the communal waste myself. This amounted to 19 bags of waste I had to arrange with my own hands. By this point, I had no wish to engage with Maaria further, what phone calls we had were awkward as she would respond in the most discourteous and patronising tone. I called the Deansgate office to explain that my issues were not being dealt with and that I wanted to speak with someone else, they responded 'Just hold the line' and proceeded to transfer my call to Maaria. Each time I attempted to contact this woman, I would have to wait AT LEAST a week for a substantial response (not a solution). At this point, there was a general consensus between neighbours that the management of our properties was nothing like we had ever experienced. After a few more months of experiencing piss poor service from this particular 'representative' of Suttons, I had decided enough was enough. I was not willing to endure such a shoddy tenancy and requested advice from the Citizens' advice bureau. I consequently requested Suttons 'in-house complaints procedure' to which I was ignored for up to four times via email. Additionally, after months of agro with the new letting agents, I decided it was not worth my well-being remaining at the property. Just as I presumed the worst was over, Maaria refused to provide my new agency with a reference and forced me to provide my months’ notice (even though I had not yet been accepted). This means I would have been made homeless if my application was unsuccessful. My dad and brother also had an apartment (directly underneath mine), needless to say they did not stay for very long. When my brother applied for a new house, Maaria again refused a reference as I had not yet returned my house keys. She could have easily jeopardised his house move despite the issue having NOTHING to do with him. I am going to have to leave this review as I am out of permitted characters. I would have had a LOT more to say about this unprofessional and incompetent establishment.... Read more

If I could award zero stars, I would choose this option without hesitation. Both my daughter, and my ex-husband had tenancies with these people, and I have NEVER seen anything so mis-managed in my life. To be fair, it was a great tenancy until these goons took over the administration. My daughter needed repairs done at her property, and yet she was completely ignored - despite her eMailing for updates on several occasions. There is a lady in particular, called Maaria Khan, who really needs to take a look at what "Customer Service" means, as she evidently has no clue. She talks down to you in a condescending manner, completely disregards Data Protection Regulations, refuses to advise on the in-house complaints procedure, and threatens you with outrageous things. A great and recent example of this, is my ex-husband also had a flat - but separately to my daughter. When he initially moved in, Maaria attempted to extract more rent than had been agreed. Luckily, he was able to prove what had been discussed and paid for with Lifestyle (who were the previous Letting Agents). In addition, she told him that she would not supply a reference for him until my daughter returned her keys.. Erm.. for ANOTHER property. What exactly has that got to do with him? As if that weren't enough, she actually (and libellously) eMailed his potential new landlord and stated HE hadn't handed his keys back - almost losing him his new tenancy. How is this even legal? (It's not, by the way).. I must add here that MAYBE Maaria should be cut some slack, as only a person with dental floss for a brain would perceive it a good idea to threaten you VIA EMAIL!! I helped ensure my ex-husband's rent was paid on time. He is an absolute nightmare with technology, so I paid most installments via my own bank account. Well, Ms Khan decided she would take it upon herself to chase ME for rent - DESPITE the fact I told her SEVERAL times that I was only an emergency contact, and I advised her on each occasion that she was contravening Data Protection by even discussing the account with me. She actually ARGUED with me - stating that she had done no such thing - when I had an eMail in front of me demanding that I should pay a £*** at MY earliest convenience.. I requested CLEARLY that she stop contacting me and harassing me with the subject, but she completely ignored my wishes and continued telephoning and eMailing regarding this matter. I attempted to explain to her that the use of my account to pay some rent did NOT make me liable for it. However, she appeared to have great difficulty grasping this concept. She is aggressive, incompetent, rude and an absolute liability to any firm she "works" for. It is interesting to note that BOTH my daughter and ex-husband have vacated their properties recently - they both count Maaaaaaaaria Khan amongst their reasons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your response is very much indicative of the attitude that is prevalent in your office. I haven't "accused" you of anything that isn't entirely accurate. My daughter has all the eMails - along with photographic evidence of the repairs that were reported over a period of time. It would seem you are not entirely aware of the facts, as it was the flat BELOW my daughter's where the windows were smashed. I completely understand that it is your job to chase rent arrears, but you HAVE NO RIGHT to chase people who are unrelated to your properties. I would advise that you get a handle on the facts before you attempt to deny ANYTHING that I have written. Unlike a particular member of your staff, I am not in the habit of writing libellously. I am perfectly happy to take my concerns to whichever your governing body is. We don't know who to approach over all this, seeing as Maaria refused to provide this information. Again, there is evidence of this particular question being raised MORE THAN ONCE.... Read more

What a joke. We went for a viewing yesterday with this company. The flat we saw was an absolute tip, the current occupant (who had clearly not been informed of our visit) was shocked to see us as he came out of the shower Sam, the sales assistant, was about as helpful as a sand bag. He literally just let us in to the flat and then stood there not saying anything. When we asked if he had any information to tell us about the flat he replied "no, I have never lived here" Purely based on the viewing we got an impression of what this company must be like to rent from. Judging from the rest of the reviews here, we were probably right... Read more

I recently used this estate agents, quite possibly the worst experience i have had with any service i have ever used. In a word, unprofessional, everyone i had the unpleasant fortune to deal with, acted in a school child like manor over seemingly casual issues. example A - a member of staff shouting at me over the phone for asking where she was after she had arranged a time to come and view the property, despite agreeing a time prior to it. example B - members of staff violating policy, arranging viewings and telling myself in under the 24 hour threshold. my advice - avoid at all costs.... I wish there was a 0 star option, when we started with Suttons all was well, apart from 'Sam' not knowing his left from his right they seemed a perfectly respectable company, we were left alone throughout our contract and offered an extension, when we said we were moving out this is when the problems began. 'So called Marie' came around and asked me to tidy up to make it look better for viewings, whilst we were still paying, with a terrible attitude, whilst the flat was tidy they seemed to want us to move out 3-4 weeks before we handed over the keys. A point which 'sam' reiterated on the phone whilst threatening with a poor reference. A sour taste left in the mouth by a seemingly incompetent set of estate agents. 'So called Marie' has zero customer service and is a special kind of stupid. Shame... Read more

Firstly I was renting with suttons for 5 years, I paid 2k per month in rent via standing order. Firstly I don't think I can remember ever dealing with an organisation who come across as rude and pushy as these guys. Pretty much every single one of their staff need a lesson in customer service and how to deal with their customers. Every call they made to either me or my partner was rude, arrogant and pushy. Even though we had been paying the rent for years we were dealt and spoken to as if we were trying to get away with not paying it! Weirdly enough after we moved out, their attitude seemed to soften and they came across much nicer?? Can't actually explain this, maybe they just wanted the property empty? Just very odd! Anyway would never use these guys again and strongly suggest you use another estate agency unless you want to feel abused after every contact!... Read more

I don't normally like estate agents. I mean let's face it, they are normally money grabbing people who simply don't care about the customer experience. Suttons however are totally different. From start to finish I was treated like I meant something, I felt valued. Thanks Suttons, I would highly recommend this business to anyone.... Read more
