Our first mistake was to be talked into using their in-house solicitors because "it would be more efficient and it would be easier to contact them to follow up queries". The buyers also used the same firm of solicitors. It took 4 months for them to sell the property from when the offer was accepted to when we actually exchanged contracts. This included almost a month to verify our identities because we had to use a portal that wasn't fit for purpose. As there was no upward chain and we were selling to first-time buyers it should have taken half this time. The photographs on the brochure were good but we had to edit the captions because of the number of errors in it. We had to conduct the viewings ourselves because staff were unavailable. The property wasn't displayed in the window, and when I asked why I was told that "no-one looks in the window!" After the property was on the market for 2 weeks, they wanted to lower the asking price. Some emails were sent in error - one regarding the sale of another property! Weeks would pass without any progress having been made. Communication was very poor (during this time the buyers had 3 different solicitors handling their purchase) and we were never sure that the buyers were still interested in purchasing the house. Even the day before we completed they were asking for documents verifying my husband's identity! The whole experience was very stressful and the delays proved costly to us. The service we received from AP Morgan was not worth the fee charged.... Read more
