I have been a client of Gatekeeper for a number of years.
The Swindon market has been tough with all the local news surrounding HONDA closing etc.
The team have remained positive and upbeat and have secured me a sale so my partner and I can move to a new home.
First of all this is a general review of what we experienced with Gatekeeper agency I'm not making referrals to any agents as most of them are nice and friendly but they are not there to make you better they are there to make money from you.
1.Comunication with tenants it can be improved by providing them a phone number which is free to use and contact the estate agent
2.We didn't felt supported with agents smiling and temporarily emphasizing with us without taking real actions to show their support
3.There has been and end of tenancy fee taken from our deposit early than at the end of tenancy, without anyone notifying. We had to ask and find about it and the explanation was 'anyway that fee is taken from the deposit at the end of tenancy'.
4. We had 3 inspections over an year and a half without any issues at all but at the end of the contract we had money deducted from our deposit for silly reasons like grass has grown into the flowers, CO2 sensors not working or dirty oven.
5.All the reasons for deduction we have not been present when the inspection has been done, so we cannot verify anything as the agency didn't provide any photos with how the garden has been 'repaired' or how the oven is looking after being cleaned and where the new CO2 sensors has been installed and replaced. Not to mention that nothing was new in that house and they were expecting to be like new.
6.What I think is that they are applying this issues to many as possible tenants trying to deduct money from their deposit.
7. In the end doesn't matter how hard you are looking for the house or place you are renting from Gatekeeper there allways be issues raised at end of tenancy to deduct some money. This is all about really for them or Gatekeeper ''money''.
In the end I would like to mention that this is a honest review about what we experienced with this agency, I don't know if there are others better there.
Bought a Witney property through Allen & Harris. All of the staff were well informed, friendly and accommodating. Were happy for us to do multiple viewings and were always punctual. Couldn't recommend them more.
Having tirelessly tried to contact the agent on my sons behalf I gave up.
They appear to be non responsive and not very customer focused.
I am glad we have chosen an alternative agent (Finders Keepers).
I recently sold my flat in Witney and Kirsty was the agent. Right from when I was choosing an estate agent for the job I had no hesitation after I met with Kirsty. Her knowledge was second to none and was definitely a cut above the rest. It was an easy decision to make. I achieved a fantastic price for the flat and this was definitely down to Kirsty's selling techniques. I couldn't be more delighted with how the sale went and being kept up to date every step of the way. I would definitely recommend Kirsty.
Blakes Avenue, Cogges
Contacted by Rebecca after I had told Chancellors 4 times in the past not to ever contact me again. These people are like a dog with a bone. As soon as they got my details they will *not* stop emailing and phoning me about letting my property through them. Their internal systems are a disaster.
Plenty of good estate agents out there. Would avoid Chancellors at all costs.
Alex was extremely helpful and professional when helping me and my friends find our first property to rent. I would recommend this agency as they are considerate of students financial predicament and don't expect the deposits straight up like other agency's but they allow students till June to come up with the deposit. This is extremely helpful as we rely on student loans. Overall my decision was made much easier with the help of Alex as he keeps you up to date and alerts you of anything occurring.
Do not use they are a terrible estate agent. They don’t sort out your queries unless you chase them at least 5 times. Even the landlord of our property has said they’re useless.
Come across rude if they need something from you however don’t care at all if you need there help.
Not to mention they forgetful, unprofessional and extremely stupid.
Have sent us emails that are meant for other tenants....
USE ANOTHER AGENCY
We have just brought our first house that was sold through Amelies and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From day 1 where we viewed the house all the way through to collecting the keys, Daniel and Jessica were a great help answering all of our questions quickly and always so friendly. An excellent service all the way throughout!
Would not recommend Amelies Estate Agent as a letting Agent. As a prospective renter, I called 4 times (and even messaged through rightmove) to ask for a viewing and was told Dan (who handles this property) is busy but would call me right back. Even said on the last call he is right in front of me with a Customer at the moment and would call me back shortly. Suffice to say I got no call back. Waste of my time...
