Very bad experience:
They could not provide me a single suggestion in almost one month despite the fact that I was ready to pay up to £1250. Although, they put me under great stress and made me believe that I can’t get any house below £1200 and can’t get less than 2 bedroom for family with a baby. It is because of them I did not search for less than 2 bedroom property for a long, assuming I can’t get that, which was incorrect.
Every time, I called them they said it is not in their area and they will send my details to other office. Once, I spent around 4-5 hours to fill a form to apply for a property whose result they never shared with me. I expressed my interest to view many properties but mostly I did not get a response because they already had many applications for that property.
Feedback for the agent to improve:
1.First, be transparent and responsive to the customers. If there are many applications for some property then convey that to the customers instead of keeping quite. Reply each email/call.
2.You have multiple offices in Oxford and you have advantage so use that to help the customers and not for torturing them. There is no communication (at least customer oriented) between your different branches. Your people just pass responsibility to other branches. For example, I called several times to show interest in some property then I was told that that property is not in their area. First, they should help the customers instead of passing on the things. Secondly, give the customer options available with you (customer might get interested in property available with you) instead of getting rid of them.

As a review of this branch, I cannot fault the service I have received from both Michael in sales and Ben on the lettings side. Whilst I would not endorse Chancellors as a company, I have realised that all the issues and incompetence I have experienced come from their 'back office' or central teams. Luckily my contacts at the Botley branch are now my 'go to'. Having bought my first house from Michael in 2009, I subsequently let it through Chancellors in Botley too. Being honest, at the beginning the service I received wasn't great, but since Ben Stevens has been my contact, things have improved considerably. Both Ben and Michael are friendly, professional and incredibly responsive, both on the phone and on email. I am now working with them on selling my rented out property, and they have made a potentially complex process quite simple.

Benjamin Stevens is very irresponsive, irresponsible and has neglected my complaints for near to three months. Seemingly after successfully charging the money, the agent just turns face cold and acts arrogantly. He disregarded my complaints about personal injury and failed housekeeping service. This is my west rental experience, unbelievable. I do feel a sense of racism from Benjamin too.

Our experience as prospective buyers with the Botley branch (not other branches) is that they took a significant amount of time to (or wouldn’t) respond to emails, and when called, would say that they would get someone to call back, but this never happened.

Michael Trueman and the team were great throughout the sale of my house. In my previous experiences with selling via estate agents I found that enthusiasm for marketing waned after the first month or so - not so with Chancellors Botley - they never took their eye off the ball and kept up the same level of effort and communication throughout all the time my property was on the market. I was also impressed with Nicole Puckett (Sales Progression Advisor) who kept on the case between offer and completion and made sure there were no unnecessary delays. Highly recommended.

I had the chance to meet Arabella Wiltshire from Chancellors Letting in Botley for a viewing and a subsequent offer (not accepted unfortunately that's why 4 stars) I have to say that she is really good. Always ready to reply to emails, call you back or give you clarifications. Honestly nothing comparable with the other Chancellors offices in Oxford. Much better.

We just purchased our first home through Chancellors Botley, dealing particularly with James Carroll. James was friendly and helpful throughout the process. They were also admirably open regarding a relevant planning application near the property from the outset, which it was good to have on the table from the beginning rather than emerging during later surveys.

HOWEVER, a failure to hand over to anyone competent when she went on holiday (without letting us know in advance) meant that we spent a couple of stressful weeks chasing up different arms of the centralised Chancellors machinery, over the phone from Australia. This was extremely frustrating, and when we finally managed to get a tenancy agreement produced, it ignored one or two minor terms that we had agreed upon in advance. Although the issues we encountered were mainly due to poor communication through the central system, it is true that, had Arabella personally ensured that there was someone who knew our file well with whom we could liaise, then we would not have had such difficulty. Not ideal when you've paid £480 in fees!

From the outset, we felt at ease dealing with both Michael and Charlie.
At the beginning of the process, we were accompanied by Charlie on a number of inspection visits to the property. He dealt with us patiently and was well informed on the issues we raised with him regarding the ownership and recent tenancy history of the property.
Following our surveyor’s visit and report, we were given further extended access to take measurements and carry out our own inspections. Concerns following this stage were conducted promptly via email so that there were no misunderstandings.
The price we settled on was the result of a proper ‘to-and-fro’ negotiation which was conducted by Michael. We are very satisfied with the agreed price.
Living locally to Chancellors, we were able to walk into their offices on occasions without appointment or invitation; we always felt welcome.
Finally, the information we received throughout the whole process was both accurate and relevant, and all in all, we are satisfied with the very professional service of Charlie and Michael.

We just sold our house through Michael Trueman at the Botley Chancellors. Due to a variety of uncontrollable circumstances on our part, it turned out to be a fairly drawn out and difficult sale. I would strongly recommend Michael and the Chancellors Botley team to anyone thinking of selling their house.
For various reasons our house was difficult to sell but Michael was able to draw on a wide range of contacts in the property market. He encouraged us to think outside the box and explore a less conventional approach. Throughout what proved to be a long and difficult process, Michael kept everything moving. He kept all the lines of communication open and steered everyone involved in the same direction and we are absolutely delighted with the outcome.
