LANDLORDS BE WARNED As previous reviews have said BEWARE of this business. We had let a property for 24 years with very little problem, but 2 years ago when Nigel Bower took over the business from his parents everything changed. He owed us 3 months rent (tenants paid) and despite numerous emails/phone calls and letters from our Solicitor he wouldn't pay what he owed. We took him to court (21 months ago) and had a County Court Judgment (CCJ) filed against him which we won. The CCJ involved The Sheriffs Office/Bailiffs who took out a Controlled Goods Agreement for the money we were owed. Eventually he paid the money owed, so we were the lucky ones. Anyone "thinking" of using this business should first do their research and if any doubt GO ELSEWHERE.... Read more

LANDLORDS BEWARE Bower and Bower are an Estate and Letting Agent in Exeter run by a guy called Nigel Bower. Although the staff in the office are pleasant and helpful, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM AS A LETTING AGENT. We used them as a letting agent for our property. Our last tenant had to sit in their office and refuse to move in order to get her tenancy deposit back, after having waited for over 6 weeks for it. We had to do similar to get our first month’s rent out of them. Thank goodness after that, the tenant paid us direct, but now that her tenancy is over they will not return her deposit contrary to our instructions. This poor girl who needs her money desperately has been waiting for 7 weeks now.We have just been told that Mr Nigel Bowers has been asked repeatedly to return our tenant’s deposit by the staff but refuses to do so. A little research on the internet and some conversations with various regulatory bodies has thrown up that they do not belong to any Ombudsman schemes having been expelled from the Property Ombudsman in March 2018 for failing to pay an award against them. They are now, therefore, operating illegally and Trading Standards have been informed. Also, their membership to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme was terminated in January 2018 and as far as I am aware they have not signed up with another authorised government scheme.... Read more

B&B were my agents for a property I was letting in Exeter. Mr Winston Bower retired and his son Nigel Bower took over. Very quickly B&B failed to transfer rent owed to me. Over 14 months between 2016 and 2017 and after 40 plus exchanges of emails, phone calls, letters and visits to the office and recall to TPO & county court I finally got my money with COMPENSATION. However B&B haven't changed their spots, they have now failed to transfer the tenants deposit to the current agents. WATCH OUT NIGEL BOWER. Despite having advanced MS I'm not letting THIS OPEN DISPLAY OF THEFT go unchallenged either.... Read more

We did an emergency job for bower&bower as they needed a property cleaning as well as all the carpets cleaned for a client who was moving in the next day from up country.. This was back at the beginning of November we have called, emailed lost count the amount of times my husband has been in their office and still nothing we are now in the process of taking them to a small claims court after seeking advice from a solicitor. I do not understand how this estate agent /letting agent are still in business.... Read more

I am owed a considerable amount of money by Bower and Bower. I have phoned and called into their office to no effect so am now in the process of complaining to the Property Ombudsman regarding their conduct. I will resort to the Court to eventually reclaim my money. There are others out there who I personally know who are in a similar position or worse.... Read more

Nigel bower is a lying thieving scumbag. I am owed over £2000 pounds. I am constantly ignored, told i will receive a call back and then hear nothing from them. He's always in a meeting allegedly and he is the only person who can release any money. His dad, Winston was a decent man who must be ashamed to have such a deceitful lowlife as a son. Have had to go through the TDS to try to get my deposit back and the property ombudsman for the rent i overpaid. Do Not Use This Company.... Read more

Appalling, Workmen (electricians and builders) walked into the flat without any warning on various occasions despite emailing Bower and Bower after the first time to tell them I would like to be informed before they gave out keys for people to come and do anything in the flat. The flat had a serious damp problem which they said they were aware of when I moved in but was still an issue when I moved out. I was a tenant for 9 months. It took a full two calendar months for me to get my deposit back.... Read more
