Absolute shower of cowboys. I would advise not to use this company. I am renting a property in Glasgow through these and have had nothing but trouble from day one. They have no interest at all in the tenant. There have been issues in this property that were reported years ago that are still to be addressed. I have a fridge/freezerwith a sticker on it stating DO NOT USE after Feb 2023! If I could have given them less than one star I most certainly would of.

Probably the worst lettings experience I've ever had in the UK...
Summarising into bulletpoints:
1. Didn't have the flat cleaned before providing me with the keys (the fridge was mouldy, old food in the cupboards, hair on the bathroom floor, closet was a mess, etc.),
2. Haven't sent over any inventory lists despite endless phone calls and emails to the letting agency to get this over,
3. Doesn't seem like they know anything about the property e.g., asked where the bins were but no one could provide with an answer,
4. Both the property manager and lettings agency were both very rude and unhelpful on the phone and did not hear out any of my concerns whatsoever until I had to really push for it (especially with the bins and flat cleaning situation!)
I cannot emphasize enough - please do NOT rent/let with this lettings agency.

I’ve got several rental properties managed by Countrywide’s Glasgow City branch and they have always done a really good job for me. Living overseas means they look after finding reliable tenants, contract admin, landlord compliance, payments, repairs, and end of lease redecorating. They have always provided a great service and are very responsive. The properties are always rented and I’ve never had tenant payment issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other landlords. Lois Gallagher is my main POC and is super-responsive to everything that’s going on with each of the properties.

I have rented a house via Countrywide/ Slater Hogg & Howison for close to 6 years now. Over this time there's been certain repairs needing attention ie damp and black mould. I have kept this house in great condition but the issues date back before I moved in. On countless occasions, mainly from 2021-2024 I have been trying to get these fixed with no joy. I've made so many complaints and have complained to the Property Ombudsman. I am heavily pregnant with my first baby due in June and Countrywide have been aware of this since at least the start of the year, I was trying to get them to fix the issues before June when baby is due as stated in emails to them. My husband contacted them to get an update on the repairs on 29th April, they said the landlord 'was trying to get to the root of the problem with the damp and black mould'. I started Maternity leave on 30th April and that same day Sheriffs Officers came to my door to issue an evicition notice under the grounds the landlord 'intends' to sell in July!! No warning inadvance at all and such a brutal way to treat us, we'd always paid rent on time, kept house amazing. We can see an email attached to the evicition notice dated 11th April from Shona McCulloch of the Countrywide/ Slater Hogg & Howison to say she 'would be delighted' to help sell the property when the landlord is ready. My baby is due in June and they are delighted to make a newborn baby homeless. This is a revenge evicition because I've been asking to get all the repairs done and i have all the years of proof. It's so unbelievably stressful to be going through this. I do not recommend Countrywide because they are extremely cruel.

Worst letting agency in Scotland
We rented a flat from countrywide and from entering the flat to leaving it was a very bad and stressful experience.
From the start their communication was awful and they would have no urgency to get back to you or they often just ignored emails.
When the flat above us had a burst pipe we reported it right away and included pictures of the water coming through our roof. We never heard back from Countrywide about repairing the water damage, despite leaving an email and number. Black mould soon grew after which we had to deal with.
When my partner moved in he provided a month notice before and provided everything required for a tenancy agreement to be written. Every other letting agency I have been with had the tenancy agreement ready and signed before moving in, but not Countrywide. For the months we lived in that flat there was no tenancy agreement written with him in it, despite emailing multiple times. When we left we had no evidence that he lived in that flat and could not get a reference from Countrywide since he didn't 'live' in the flat despite paying the rent.
When we decided to leave it took 4 months to get our deposit back. This is because we discovered that the deposit was never updated with any of our names, even though I had signed a tenancy agreement, so had to go through the previous tenant to get our money. When trying to get the help from countrywide to get our deposit back we were told by Jennifer Brown and Paula Neeson that they could not help and it wasn't their job and soon after started ignoring all my emails asking for help.
I would just recommend to stay away from properties that are rented out by Countrywide as it's not worth the stress.

Title: Disappointing Experience with Countrywide Property
I am compelled to share my extremely unsatisfactory experience with Countrywide Property. From the outset, communication has been abysmal. There was a severe lack of transparency and responsiveness, making the entire tenancy a frustrating ordeal.
On the day we moved in, a hazardous floor situation arose, resulting in my partner falling through, and ended up in A&E. We had to move to alternative accommodation for weeks and eventually had to move into a hotel (which we are still waiting in money back from!!) - this demonstrates a disregard for tenant well-being.
The combination of poor communication and the undue financial burden placed on us has left a lasting negative impression. Potential renters, be cautious and consider alternatives before engaging with Countrywide Property.

Getting started was great really helpful at the beginning and getting on the market.
Negotiation team either does not communicate with you unless you chase and I don't believe they are doing what they are promising.
Multiple missed comments and emails and telephone manners are almost non existent with some.
I will not be using their services again which is a shame as the person doing the ground work to get the business is very good but the rest of his team let him down badly.

We rent a property in glasgow,
The ceiling was reported at the start of the year and then again a few months later, and a cracking in the ceiling was getting worse,
A few weeks later, the ceiling fell down and hit my wife in the head,
With it being old lathe, I am concerned the rest will come down at night as we sleep, the ceiling is also artex witch may be asbestos,
After 7 hours of back and forth they font know if it's asbestos and heat schedule a test to be down,
The Sent a young guy out to sweep up and pock the ceiling with a brush to see if it's ok
The whole process has been a joke. the manager Paula was no help leaving me to deal with the issuse and moving my family to a hotel till there back in the office in the morning.

I would like to edit my review. My husband and I found our home with the Countrywide North and they have been helpful in the process of finding our home. However, I am not satisfied at all with their property management and maintenance services. We have a maintenance problem at home for 1,5 month now, and whenever I call the Property Management to speed up the process, they give vague answers and neglect the process. It takes at least 3 weeks for them to respond a property enquiry by email even if it is urgent.

Lois was incredibly helpful throughout my entire experience with Countrywide Letting. After having a stressful time arranging viewings with other agents (not Countrywide) - who communicated poorly, and made little effort to accommodate in terms of viewings - Lois was always responsive, helpful, and friendly. The process spanned just over a week - a personal record for me after over seven years of renting elsewhere in the UK, and I am thoroughly impressed by the agency as a whole. Just a horrible experience
When we moved into in , the apartment it was not in the perfect condition of cleanliness but while we left they deducted more than 250 pounds from the deposit and even after requesting them with valid proof that it was unfair nothing changed.

This weekend, thanks to Countrywide, we were able to complete the move in about two weeks from the viewing.
We came to University of Strathclyde from Tokyo for a year on my husband's sabbatical.
We were looking for a comfortable flat.
Ami, who was in charge of us who had difficulty speaking English,She was so very kind, generous, and so quick to respond,which we really appreciate.
She was very helpful in responding meticulously to those of us who were unfamiliar with the British tenant rules and living environment.
On the day of the move, we were at a loss because we didn't know how to use the hot water system, but after talking to Ami, she dispatched a viewing agent the next day!
(we would also like to thank Suraen, who was in charge of the viewing agent, who listened to us kindly from the viewing.)
We have somehow settled down on the foundations of our lives, and my husband is finally able to concentrate on his research.
We would definitely recommend Countrywide to our next professor.

As a landlord I do not recommend using countrywide to be letting agents. My experience has been very negative. A scumbag tenant who didn't pay his rent and left the property in a poor state. Countrywide could not care less! And before Fiona or any of the team put a reply asking to contact them, I've already been to head office to be told nothing countrywide can do, not responsible for tenants not paying their rent and leaving property in a state! What's the point in having an agent??? Countrywide made it va very stressful experience so why have an agent?

Countrywide Estate Agents are the best!! their professionalism is on top of their game. I was dealing with Chrissie and she was amazing. Chrissie doesn't take longer to respond to emails and she is attentive to detail. In her communication she leaves no stones unturned. Poor experience with this letting agent, had a video viewing and moved into a property cleaned to a poor standard with a broken oven, moldy washing machine and utility room, cracked bathroom sink and penetrating damp between the bathroom and wardrobe due to a significant leak in the shower/bath tub. Check out inventory stated the property was cleaned to a good standard yet they deducted £55 for "cleaning" and "damage to property" when responding to the deposit repayment request with no further communication from Countrywide.
Landlord/agent clearly trying to make a couple extra ££ on the back of someone who had to leave the UK last minute due to a family emergency. Given my current circumstances I didn't have the time or energy to respond to these petty and frivolous claims.
Cannot recommend this agency on this basis.

If you are looking to sell, I would strongly advise against using this agency. I am a buyer. I requested a Home Report on a property 12 times over a month period, and 4 times for another property, and never got a response. Chased multiple times. They don’t respond to calls. As a result, buyers gets less interest, fewer offers and a lower sales price. I’d list with another agency.

I recently bought a flat in Merchant City through Countrywide and they were amazing! I was a first-time buyer and countrywide was with me every step of the way.
There was a whole load of complications when buying the flat around due to the council and the vendor but Countrywide was always there on the phone keeping me in the loop as well as reassuring me all was going to be okay during that stressful time!
Also big shout out to Lauren who was my main contact at Countrywide. Herself and the rest of the team were incredibly efficient and very sweet. I could not recommend Countrywide enough!

I only rented a flat with this letting agent for a few months thankfully as the flat had a huge problem with mold that unfortunately I discovered after moving in and that made the flat inhabitable. I always trusted that all of these agents check in and check out reports would catch mold problems but apparently they don't. I just wished I could have just walked out of the property but unfortunately at the time I had nowhere else to go. They feed on the desperation and needs of people to make money on flats that do not even have appropriate heating systems (living without central heating in the 21st century in one of the coldest countries in the world, is that for real?) All for a few "stingy" landlords and landladies who make thousands of pounds a year buying slum properties almost for free and who are so "cheap" that can not even bother to spend a single penny in making these properties habitable before renting them to hardworking people. After living without heating, with mold in most of the rooms of the property and without even an appropriate bed and mattress (I was literally sleeping in the floor). I was ripped off by the agency when I could finally leave the property. I also tried to contact the main office to report this and they ignored everything. Absolutely disgraceful that a country like the UK which is "sold" as a prosperous and developed country has so many people living in such inhabitable conditions. Embarrassing. Definitely I would not recommend using this agent for renting. For selling I am pretty sure that it will be the best one to rip people off, so sellers should rest assured.

Was a nightmare when you needed a repair. Was left nearly a month with no boiler working when I moved in was freezing in February. The communication between landlords and them is terrible. I had to wash my dishes boiling a kettle the whole time and was made to buy my own plug in heaters. Was a nice area I lived in so stayed longer than I should have. But left my first rental from them and quite clearly there procedures and customer services needs to improve. Cus I’ll never rent another property again with country wide. Please dodge the bullet or get a professional to do a viewing with you before taking a property. Felt taken advantage of.

I recently purchased a property from Countrywide Scotland. For a good 9 months (it was a long slog to get this purchase over the line, so many obstacles all along the way but got there in the end). The Estate Agent who I was dealing with the whole time, Danielle McLuckie, was brilliant. She was always polite, professional, understanding and most importantly patient with me. A few time my mortgage fell through at the last moment but Danielle showed patience and understanding. I have been dealing with the Countrywide Merchant City branch for over 6 years now. They have been fantastic since day one and have let out my properties for many years. Nadia Scott and Fiona Scott are tremendous industry professionals who have their fingers on the pulse of each latest trend. They have also been quick to assure me with any problems that have arisen over the years as well. By far the best letting agent I have dealt with. I won’t be leaving anytime soon.

Just horrible, and I'm stuck with them now. As I landlord I advise you to stay away from this agency, they've not done one thing right since I started to work with them. Very unprofessional, they will lie to you whenever it suits them, and you need to call at least 3 times to remind them to send you documents or do smtg, and like this is not enough, it's been two weeks since the tenants moved into my property and I've not received money yet .. Still waiting and after confrontating them twice, they just told me " ill send a message to the headoffice"... Really now?... And I'll probably have to call everyday to remind them to do so now, cause they usually forget everything you ask after you hang up

Sold city center flat and I can't complement the professional service enough. From a tenant's perspective, nice, friendly staff who were easy to deal with. During my tenancy I had problems with the boiler and also the electricity supplier. Fiona and the team dealt with these issues professionally and effectively. They also seemed to have a good relationship with the owner.
I should also mention that the initial deposit terms were much fairer to prospective tenants than the terms some other agents required (there was one I refused to deal with because of this), and that the final check-out was straightforward with no claims on the deposit.
PS: Let me temper this review by saying that on no account should you accept Spark Energy as your supplier. Spark consistently got my bills wrong, and each month their debt collectors would be on my case BEFORE the bill had even arrived in the post! On leaving it took weeks before they managed to issue a correct bill. Needless to say their debt collectors Opos (try googling them), were daily threatening me while Spark had yet to finalise the bill correctly. And now, five months later, the harassment has resumed, despite the fact that I have paid the account in full.

From beginning to end, the process of selling my flat was made blissfully easy by all the members of the Countrywide team I had been in contact with. It was the first time I had sold a property and I was guided every step of the way brilliantly by Paul, Yvonne, Danielle, and Caitlin.
They all were very friendly and helpful, and we spoke most days to keep each other in the loop. I was most impressed by the way they listened to my particular needs about selling my property and oriented the process to accommodate this.

Utterly appalling mismanagement and failings from Fiona Scott and staff at Countrywide Candleriggs.
Denied their tenants above me were noisy, I videoed them playing drums, constant shouting, numerous band members return to the flat at 3am, constant arguments, doors banging etc etc..Now they are denying their new tenants are heavy footed, one in particular just thuds thuds thuds as she walks, and for the last 2 weekends they return well after midnight THUD THUD THUD, and at 10pm recently they decided to hammer nails into the wall ??...Fiona Scott is now trying to defend them YET AGAIN by blaming me for being noise "sensitive"...If you see a Countrywide Candleriggs sign in your block, BE WORRIED, Fiona Scott will put any nutter in and take the 12% and turn a blind eye to the FACTS..JUST LOOK AT THE OTHER GOOGLE FEEDBACK HERE, HOW IS THIS COUNTRYWIDE STILL ALLOWED TO BE SO SO BAD AT.. EVERYTHING ???

It is going to be hell to deal with them once you vacate the property. very stratagical in getting your deposit back for nothing.
Also, ensure you take pics of the property before moving in. ensure you end an email with a detailed report about the property. so that it will help during the end of the tenancy.

Please do something, anything to stop the loud noises coming from your tenant's in flat 2/1, 22 Grierson St, Friday 1st Sept from 8pm onward the thumping noise of DRUMS and then singing coming through the walls is appalling. We are not used to such anti-social activity within this area Countrywide Scotland.

This is a very tenant-unfriendly place. They definitely speak to you in a very friendly manner, but it's deceiving because they treat you like crap and leave you hanging. They don't give you timely updates, they don't give you any specific reasons as to why your application was rejected. Just a vague, "there are many applicants, the landlord will make a decision." I got the feeling that the landlord wasn't intimately involved in the process at all. It feels like they just screen applications based on arbitrary metrics and their personal whims. I offered 6 months' rent upfront. They didn't even have the courtesy to give me an explanation regarding my rejection- just a terse one sentence email that I was rejected. I went to their office on three separate occasions, and gave up after feeling like they didn't want or need my business. They didn't even ask me for any documents for my application! The whole thing felt like a time-wasting sham and that they had already picked their tenant before I walked in. I'm actually thankful because that prompted me to check other letting agencies, and I was treated waaay better at Central Letting Services, Happy Lets, KPM and Let It- those agencies seem to be much more tenant friendly. Countrywide acts as if they don't need any business. They could very well have plenty, in which case, it makes no sense to waste your time when you have plenty of other, more tenant friendly, agencies to choose from. So, if you're searching on Rightmove, you might as well ignore Countrywide listings, because chances are that you won't get the unit you want, and you'll feel like you completely wasted your time. May be it's just their Candleriggs branch? I was treated much better by their Shawlands branch.

Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Patronizing & condescending. The concept of customer service is obviously completely alien to the people they employ to work there.
- Was told that my apartment came with a parking space, then when signing contract was told it didn't.
- They sent my dad, a 70 year old man, on a wild goose chase up to their bank's headoffice to pay deposit, after my dad asked several times "Are you sure I have to go to the bank's head office?" then was told he was in the wrong place. So he had to walk 2 miles for nothing. No apology though.
- Extremely slow to take care of any faults in the apartment. Now last month of my tenancy, viewings have been happening on a daily basis with 2 hours notice.
- Staff extremely condescending and after having my privacy invaded for the umpteenth time I asked to make viewings once a week on a sunday, and was just told on the phone "From living in your apartment for six months YOU'RE WELL AWARE we're not open on Sunday, so stop being difficult" - How am I supposed to know when they're open??? You think I've got nothing else to do other than memorizing what days/ times Countrywide are open!?!??!? Staff's tone was extremely patronizing, which ultimately lead to me writing this review.

Avoid this letting agency at all costs!! I have rented a property with countrywide for the past 12 months with absolutely no contact from them whatsoever!! Staff at the Candleriggs branch were extremely rude and patronising to my partner and I who were renting for the first time. There is no sense of urgency on there part everything takes so long to process and you are never filled in on the progress of events. After living in the property for 12 months I was offered to extend the lease on the basis of a rent increase!! Another thing on the lead up to the expiry of my lease its almost as if countrywide were trying to avoid me. I have been calling non stop leaving multiple voicemails regarding deposit and return of keys and have yet to gain a response!!! The lease has expired yesterday and I have a feeling they have a sneaky money grabbing trick up there sleeves! I I am absolutely appalled at this service and would recommend to all future buyers to stay well clear of this letting agency.

I began renting a flat with Merchant Lettings who were subsequently bought over by Countrywide. Quite simply, avoid this company completely. Their staff are unhelpful and extremely rude. The way I was spoken to on the phone was ridiculous, particularly by the staff at the Springfield Court office.
The only time we heard from them was when they wanted more money from us. They tried to increase our rent with no justification after a year. When we confronted them about it and asked them to present a case for the increase, they backed down. Our flat was burgled and they offered little help or assistance. One particular member of staff must have been deputised by Strathclyde Police as she spent more time on the phone questioning me about how the burglars had got in rather than helping with the aftermath. Also, I had to fight with them to get an additional lock put on the door. They way the handled the check out was very unprofessional to say the least and we were charged 60 pounds for cleaning the flat back to a higher standard than we received it.
My advice if you have to deal with them is to be as meticulous and picky with the inventory as possible because they look for anything to charge for at check out.
The landlord of the flat we had was in the process of moving all 6 of his properties away from Countrywide at the time of us moving due to the poor service.
I will never deal with this mob again.

I have been a landlord for 10 years. Last year the agency I used was taken over by Countrywide Residential Lettings since the takeover Countrywide have been appalling, I have had Sheriffs Court letters issued through non payment of bills (sent to Countrywide) they consistently send correspondence to the wrong place. I have spent more time over the past year dealing with their incompetence than I had in all the previous 9 years. Everything is dealt with by separate offices or departments who never talk to each other. Damage was caused to my property which was noted by the tenants on moving in but not communicated to me by Countrywide, so when they moved out I was left with the bill. Carpets I had renewed 18 months previously have just been changed again due to Countrywide incompetence. And to cap it all they released my tenants deposit and then told me they hadn't paid the last months rent. Unprofessional, incompetent and to be avoided at all costs.

This is the second time that I have used the City Living branch of Countrywide to sell a home and the second time that I have been really glad that I did so.
As you would expect, I had the usual visits from several Estate Agents based in and around the city centre of Glasgow, but have to say that from the first moment that I spoke with Nicola and her team, I was confident that they had a clearer understanding of the market and a much more realistic approach to managing my expectations.
Selling your home can be a fraught experience, especially in the current economic climate. Nicola and her team kept me abreast of feedback from viewers in a timely fashion and I believe they did everything in their power to promote my property in as targeted a fashion as possible.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Nicola and her team. With a market which is so changeable, you really need people who are at the top of their game to make sure that they are achieving the best possible price - you need Nicola at Cityliving.

By far the worst letting agency I have ever encountered.
I was a tenant of Merchant Lettings who Countrywide have now absorbed. They got my rent mixed up with another tenants of the same name and hounded me for months for rent that I'd already paid. It didn't stop until I sent in bank statements proving the money had left my account in to theirs.
AND THAT'S NOT THE WORST.....
I have severe allergies and asthma and when the kitchen ceiling collapsed, I thanked God I was renting and that it was someone else's responsibility to deal with. HOWEVER....... The following occurred:
1. It took over a month before any work started at all!
2. When it did, it was causing mess and disruption to the entire flat (even though i'd called, advised of my allergies and asked that all the other room doors be closed and taped shup to prevent filth spreading.)
3. The mess was horrific and no one came to clean it up - it was all left to me. I mean what's the point of renting if you are still left with all the hassle? I had to end up paying for a professional cleaning company that specialise in this type of clean up at the cost of £200, which they refused to reimburse. The owner of the flat was annoyed too, as she had asked them to be respectful
4. The previous tenant at my flat left owing money to utilities firms. I showed them my lease proving that i was not in the flat at the time, but the company has requested that the branch manager at Countrywide write a letter also confirming my date of entry. A simple task you'd think? Well no - she has refused and said it's nothing to do with her.
At present, I have just sent off a complaint letter to the property services ombudsman - I am hoping they will give them a boot up the behind!
As a result, my partner and I .are moving out of the flat we love as soon as we are able, just to get away from Countrywide. They are a nightmare

Took months to return send part of deposit after tenant left with rent outstanding and deducted cleaning cost but left the flat dirty. I could go on!

Quoted us a thousand pounds for their fees at the start....demanded almost nineteen hundred in the end:got the valuation wrong (I thought this was the main part of their job):by ten thousand pounds ; charged four hundred pounds upfront before they even STARTED the selling process "for advertising"...and talked my son (inexperienced in dealing with dlossy boys and con tricks) into using their own extortionate cronies to do the Home Valuation Report. Stay away fromthis lot. They have nothing to recommend them.Next time,we'll sell online....ourselves.
