Crestons is an untrustworthy company. They also close randomly for weeks at a time without notice. Expect extra fees, 'mistakes' which work in their favour, and for them to go off the radar without notice. They also failed to fulfil their contractual obligations insofar as not providing a cleaner before moving in, inspecting the property etc. My advice is to avoid these smug, smarmy, and shifty con-artists. I concur with the other reviews, particularly naming Syed and Bobbi as unprofessional. PS: The positive reviews I have read here seem to read like a press release, with similar expressions and grammar to that of the employees of Crestons. ... Read more

0 stars in my opinion! I am a landlord and Crestons collected the rent from our tenants and then stole it from us!! Apparently they are now in administration and it looks like we won't get our money. Trading standards are investigating them now! Whether you are a tenant or a landlord I would strongly advise you NOT to do any business with Crestons.... Read more

Do avoid renting from them!! Our tenancy ended 4 months ago and we still did not get back our deposit although we sent tons of E-Mails and tried to call them many times. The last time I called them to ask for the refund they wanted to know my telephone number "to call me back". However it seems that they never intetended to do that but wanted to know my number solely to reject future calls of me since I could not get through to them since then. Unfortunately now it seems that there is no way around legal action in order to get back our deposit. Not only that: During the tenancy they used dodgy methods like threatening us with eviction orders although we always paid the rent in time and sticked to the contract. After all it seems that the people who work for this agency do not know their own tenancy agreements or they just do not care. In my opinion the good reviews here must be fake. ... Read more

Never make any deals with Crestons. Me and my girlfriend lived in NW1 1TY, London in a shared flat with a few more other tenants. We had not only given security deposits which were supposed to be refunded but also paid advance rents for three months. However, everyone in the flat was suddenly asked to leave with one months notice. We all moved out but as promised we never received our security deposit which was refundable and the excess rent we were paying in advance. Crestons owes us £2700 and despite numerous visits and emails they have not made any attempt to return us our money. They dont respond to any emails and keep delaying any fruitful conversations by excuses like, "oh our system is down" or some other totally made up excuse. Being students this put a huge financial burden on us to the extent that we could not afford meals and alternative housing just before the exams in March 2015. They are the worst agency you can imagine. We have all the documented proof of our excess payments and security deposit. We are finally taking legal action against them for cheating and harassing us.... Read more

I was looking for a modern and gorgeous one bedroom flat in Islington and Crestons did a very good job in helping me find the right property. I particularly recommend the lettings consultant Iban Etcheverry who understood my requirements and quickly found the ideal apartment in the heart of King's Cross. Definitely recommend this agency for its professionality and efficiency!... Read more

Crestons is currently managing my property for the full service and I am really happy with their service. Any questions I have I just ring up and they are always dealt with straight away. And they charge a very reasonable management fee. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.... Read more

Having signed a contract for an agreed rent, Crestons contacted us the next day and said we had to pay higher. A friend of mine said that this has happened to them as well. Watch out for the way Crestons operate, as they will try to rip you off. A refund of this holding deposit took three weeks to complete, when the initial time was promised to be three working days, and Crestons persistently avoiding dealing with the matter. This involved a lot of emails and calls exchanged, the manager apparently very hard to get hold of, and multiple visits to their office. The staff in their office were incompetent and seemed lacking any concern for our issues. My flatmates and I feel this way of operating is completely out of order, especially toward students. I would not recommend. ... Read more

In my experience I have never come across an estate agency who have behaved as unprofessionally and unethically as Crestons. I am writing this statement to make people aware of my experience with Crestons. I am the landlord of a property in Kings Cross let and managed by Crestons. I have previously practiced for 10 years as a commercial property solicitor in London and for a number of years have owned a portfolio of properties in the UK and overseas. As a brief summary, I signed terms and conditions with Sirs London Ltd trading as Crestons this year which provides for them in the normal way to pay me net rent received as managing agents from the current tenants of my property. The tenancy agreement commenced in February and I have yet to receive any rent from Crestons. I have chased them repeatedly by phone and email over the last 5months but they continue to not make payment for no good reason and ignore my communications. I have therefore had to arrange for the rent to be paid direct to me from the tenants and to issue court proceedings against Sirs London Ltd trading as Crestons for the unpaid rent (the tenants have provided me with clear evidence of bank transfers showing all of the payments). I have recently received a county court judgement against Sirs London Ltd trading as Crestons for the full amount of the unpaid rent (circa £7k including court fees and accruing interest). However, they still do not respond to my communications and have to date not made payment. I have been informed from a third party that there are 8 county court judgements against Sirs London Ltd trading as Crestons totally over £30,000 and companies house records indicate that this company is in the process of being wound up and dissolved which means that the various creditors including myself will not be paid. For me this means the rent paid by my tenants to Crestons has simply vanished. Notwithstanding this, Crestons continue to trade from their various London offices and in particular to use the name Sirs London Ltd trading as Crestons which I believe to be fraudulent activity. A search on social media reveals a plethora of complaints against Crestons involving allegations of extortionate fees, malpractice and unprofessional behaviour. My main point of contact at Crestons is Mr Syed Ahmed who is based at the Caledonian Road branch. He continues to assure me that the rent Crestons have received will be paid to me but as has been the case over the last 5 months no monies have been received. I believe Crestons have no intention of paying me the rent they are holding onto. I am concerned that Crestons continue to trade as an estate agency business with a shop front on the Caledonian Road and other London offices. I would not want other customers to have the same experience whereby tenants rent is unlawfully kept by Crestons. I shall be making a full report to Trading Standards, the Property Ombudsman and other relevant bodies. ... Read more

Currently engages in dispute over a sham tenancy, trying to pass off an assured shorthold tenancy as a license to occupy, refusing to protect the deposit and refusing to explain why the property was legally under a license to occupy. The 'agreement' was also loaded with hidden fees, written in misleading English, and allowed them the right to move us to any room in their property portfolio with only one weeks notice! They used misleading tactics, promising renovations, bills included, and furniture that was never provided. The property also had bedbugs, cockroaches, and a broken window that could be opened from the outside. I would strongly advise anyone against doing business with Crestons, they are rogue traders who will try and take advantage of you at every opportunity. ... Read more

4 years later, this company decides to call and offer me a flat.... When I mentioned this, the guy still had the nerve of asking IF I WAS STILL LOOKING.... As a matter a fact I am, I've been living under a bridge waiting for you guys to call. I politely asked that they remove me from their client list and never call again, the agent insisted that I let him know where I live now and how much rent I pay.... The nerve of some people! BEWARE of the positive reviews, they are more than likely internal.... Read more

I second the 'phantom' listings on gumtree. These guys mass-post (I saw hundreds) lots of great looking reasonably priced ads for places in desirable locations in London, then offer you whatever they happen to have when you call up. Classic 'bait and switch' approach. They may be ok to deal with otherwise, I can't comment on that aspect though.... Read more
