The event I attended for our staff Christmas event was outstanding.
Entertainment was first class and the food was delicious.
I would go as for as to say this was the best tasting food I have eaten at a large event: I would give 10/10 for that alone.

Very good venue, had our works Christmas party here. It was spectacular. Had a show, a welcome snacks, a meal and indoor rides, huge space loads of people but didn't need to wait to be served at any bars as so many bars and loads of staff serving.. Loved it. Also toilets were new and perfectly clean. The only thing I didn't like was music being so loud as you couldn't hear anyone speak. Wish they keep it at sensible volume next time. Otherwise it was great ????

Came for a gin night. Fantastic!
Lots of room considering how many people where there, fantastic friendly staff and even the toilets very clean too. Good prices at the bar aswell. Even had a secure cloakroom so you didn't have to carry your coats round all night. Fantastic ????

Exhibiting at The Late Brake Show. Car plus trailer. Center was clean and tidy, security and cleaning staff were all spot on to deal with. Friendly and knew what they were doing. Very well run operation.

Went here for bongo bingo. A night not to be missed. £5-£6 for a can of beer or cider. Dancing on the tables, falling off the tables, fun and laughter. Highly recommended.

Went to the progress21 job fair. Had to register beforehand which wasn't a problem and I would expect now in these times. Staff were very friendly, approachable and willing to help. The talks were helpful and informative and the stalls were good. Thanks for a great, well run job fair.

Easy to get to by public transport but car parks if needed. Large conference & events venue in the old station building in the city centre. Everything you would expect and extra friendly helpful staff makes it even better.

My first time here as part of the Manchester International Festival, the structure has character and history (the old Manchester Railway station) but is effectively used as a modern versatile exhibition space, that, until relatively recently, was intended to be used as a Nightingale Hospital during 2020.

I used to love comming to this venue when it was called the G-Mex it still holds great memories for me this place saw some great bands here its a Grade II listed building that was a former railway station its a smart looking building ????

exhibition and conference centre converted from the former Manchester Central railway station in Manchester, England. The building has a distinctive arched roof with a 64-metre span - the second-largest railway station roof span in the United Kingdom,and was granted Grade II listed building status in 1963.
After 89 years as a railway terminus, it closed to passengers in May 1969. It was renovated as an exhibition centre formerly known as the G-Mex Centre in 1982 and was Manchester's primary music concert venue until the construction of the Manchester Arena. After renovation the venue reverted to its former name Manchester Central in 2007.

This is a great conference and exhibition venue. The facilities I saw were very high standard, the staff were helpful and the food was delicious.
Only downside is the parking is a bit sketchy. It’s based in an underground car park that has incredible tight parking bays between arches; of four bays per arch, only the middle two are really useable. I unfortunately had to park in a bay next to a wall and had to scramble to get in and out of the car. And then there is the price - north of £20 for 3 hours. That’s more like London prices!!!

We attended for a work Christmas party. The space is huge and the venue was well organised. Considering there were more than 2000 people there the cloakroom worked efficiently and you could get to the bar without too much of a queue. Only negative was the toilets were a bit overwhelmed for that number of people.

So much to see and do. So much on offer. Amazing venue. Cafe was lovely and catered for everyone. Reasonably priced too. The goody bag was just wow. Definitely going again next time

It's a clean centre near the heart of the town centre. For events it's good. Lots of parking below it in the NCP, which is extortionate.
Recently visited with our young children and we were disappointed by the lack of exhibits. The price of the tickets did not reflect what was presented.
I don't have enough pictures to show but it's not exaggeration to state there were large gaps in the rear half of the arena.

It was a pretty interesting visit. It wasnt as large as i expecting but there were some fabulous pieces of art on display and to buy if anyone wished. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. There was food and drinks for anyone wanting to grab a bite to eat whilst they were there. I cannot describe the service as i did not buy anything from the counters. The pictures I'm adding were only a small representation of what was on display.

Used to be Manchester's main railway station years ago that's since been converted into a conference centre. Great venue but the one normal sized toilet area (divides into an area for men and women) isn't really convenient for a venue hosting a few thousand people per event. Other than this though a decent cloakroom area, meeting rooms and a large quiet area for personal working are great additions.

Good venue for an exhibition. The size is good for mid size conferences and exhibitions. The breakout rooms provide a good level of flexibility. Easy to get to (being in the centre of Manchester it's within easy distance of all 3 train stations and the coach station.

I thought as a staff, its choose your own hours. You don't expect me to work when I have school commitments. Seems like some of the managers give most shifts to their favourite staff and even though you work diligently, just cause they don't like you or cause you don't work so often, you rarely get called. Even when you send a mail asking for shifts, most of them never reply.

it’s awesome place for large meetings. Our conference attendees were more than 1500 and still we got enough room for everyone. Accessible to to many restaurants and hotels since it’s in very city centre .

Giant flexible space that hosted a conference that I attended recently. Welcoming and easy to find your way around with good facilities and so centrally located in Manchester that you can't miss it. Great transport links and easy to find.

We went for comic con and it was great. The place was packed but it wasn't messy and the staff were still helpful. The venue and quite big as well, there were a few large rooms we went in and I was very impressed. I'm not sure what else goes on there, but it was a fun day.

Fantastic playexpo but £5.00 for 330mm can of lager come on that really takes the mick ????apparently they'd ran out of the very slightly larger cans, still wouldn't have paid a fiver for those. They would have sold a lot and made profit if sold at a reasonable price. Wise up.

As an exhibition stand builder it's great. The limited vehicle access is run really well with helpful staff. Also as a bonus, the Northern Restaurant Show gave the builders free tea and coffee (not sure if this is available for other shows). Olympia, NEC and ExCeL, eat your shorts!

Went to Lush showcase in September 2018. Lovely Venue, very clean and reasonably priced parking close by. Lush tills were only accepting cash and the nearest cash points emptied very quickly. Staff told us this was due to the venue's WiFi letting them down. Consequently we were unable to purchase everything we wanted and had to do an online order when we got home. Otherwise a brilliant day out.

I've visited here only once for my first tattoo convention. Inside is surprising larger then what you see outside. The organisation of the event was amazing and entertainment was fun. Slight cue on entering to collect tickets so i would advise getting there early to allow time for ticket collecting. Lots of security which is great and lots of helpers if needed.

This event place is much more better organised than Event City. There have been plenty of toilets and food outlets when i have been. It's not as big as Event City but it has a nice feel about it with it being an old train station. I am hoping to go again in a few months when they host Play Expo.

Attended the Manchester Beer and Cider festival and had a great day. Well managed entry and facilities, allowing exhibitors to get on with their business and visitors to enjoy their visit. If you get there early, have a hearty breakfast at Alabama's All American Eatery on Newton St to line your stomach for the day to come.

Went for a recording of Ninja Warrior UK with family. Excellent show, however food and drink was very expensive. So take your own. Car parking VERY expensive here, cost me £17. So, if you can, park somewhere else! Wouldn't park here again, spaces VERY tight!

First visited here years ago to watch the Prodigy supported by the Foo Fighters! This time a bit calmer atmosphere for an art festival. Not much to say as its normally a big empty building that gets fitted out for what ever conference exhibition is on. There is parking on site(pay for) we parked around 200m from the site which cost £8 for 4hours. Tip don't use ncp that was £13.40 for the same time????

We watched the filming of a tv show here. The staff were polite and courteous. The show was great and the venue is huge and very well suited to this kind of thing.
The centre also has smaller exhibition and conference areas and is very well set up for corporate and professional events and conferences.

Massive venue with lots of different spaces so be careful when attending to use the correct entrance. The auditorium is a hidden gem of a space which is really useful when doing large all staff talks or updates. Great nearby transport links with both deansgate station and at peters Square metrolink.

Very conveniently located in Manchester City Centre. Easy access to NCP Bridge water car park and to NCP Manchester Central car park. Very good venue. Attended a 3-day Conference in 2018 and another 3- day conference in 2017 here. Enjoyed the conferences. Modern presentation equipment is installed in the rooms.

I was there for an event, and it was well organised. The centre staff were all very helpful and friendly. I would definitely go again. The parking is expensive, but if you don't mind walking, there are other options for that.

Really enjoyed attending this venue for a dental conference. The building is also quite interesting considering it used to be a train station. The architecture is quite intriguing, including the car park. It is definitely worth visiting, even if you are not attending a conference there.

This converted railway station makes an excellent conference venue. The conversion has been tastefully carried out along with the addition of modern theaters and speaking rooms. The staff were excellent - always on hand to help and so polite. If you want to hold a large scale conference in Manchester, this is the place to do it.

A Place In The Sun
Came to convention centre to see the Manchester exhibition of A Place in the Sun. The main hall is fantastic making great use of all the space. There's underground parking provided by NCP quite expensive but you get what you pay for. Cloakroom facilities were free and security were very diligent. Got what we wanted from the show and really enjoyed the venue.

Excellent place for big conferences/trade shows with it being near Oxford Road and Deansgate train stations. Parking is available but it's expensive and limited. You're better off staying in hotel or traveling by train depending on where your coming from.

Attended the Industry 4.0 summit here. Venue is well laid out and has ample toilets and cloakroom facilities. Entry and pass collection was well run and problem free.
The venue could do with more dining options, as there isn't much nearby either for a quick bite. Apart from that, it is a spacious, interesting building

It is a large and spacious venue and is situated in a great location for a convention centre in the heart of Manchester. It is conveniently located next to a car park and is easily accessible via public transport, such as the tram and train. There is ample hotel accommodation within the vicinity of the venue (the famous Midland Hotel being across the road), and the Bridgwater Hall is next door for those who wish to see a concert.

Former redundant railway station, turned conference and events venue in the 1980s. What was once Manchester Central rail station was shut in the 1960s and was mothballed for a time before transforming into GMex. Very large space used for concerts and such, it hosts the Manchester Beer & Cider Festival every January which is a most splendid event. Highly recommended.

A fine venue with reasonable facilities and, to date, pleasant enough staff.
But, making punters queue outside in the Mancy rain, whilst over exhaustive security checks are carried out - is not smart.

Disgusting treatment of a disabled person who needed the toilet urgently in the Mail today. I hope he sues for discrimination, & I hope the receptionist who refused him one day has an illness where she needs the loo and gets refused.
Poor excuse of human beings you are if you think simply saying "sorry" retrospectively is enough. I will NEVER visit your establishment and will urge others not to either. Not until at least the culprit is sacked.

A very good location for an exhibition. But as paying exhibitors and visitors. They need to put a lot more effort into the catering and the reconsider their charges. Very poor choices and certainly not cheap.

Flexible venue with plenty of good sized rooms. The main space can be split up into areas or be one big space.
Plenty of doors for loading straight into the hall but no loading bay so fork lift or tail lift essential.
Has wireless network and simple wired network.

Went for ninja warrior far too long queuing up staff good though extensive searching however to be expected in this day and age unfortunately staff very friendly and polite just a pity about the wait in the queue easy walk from the centre of town taking a few minutes or if on the team it has a stop right outside if going by car plenty of parking

Huge place, nice for conferences. Only downside (and a big one) is the Sat Nav keeps getting lost in the one way system of streets and missing one turn means need to go all around again. Somehow even Google maps seemed confused as didn't tell me the correct turns, I only reached finally by accidentally taking the right turn!

A very good Convention centre. A good variety of bars, restaurants, and hotels all within an easy walk. Next to a tram stop directly from the main railway station. Good natural light within the building, and the building itself is a wonderful reuse of an old station. A very good venue.

Attended a Christmas event; very well managed and attended. The timber buildings, trees and fake snow all worked really well together.
The acrobatics through the night were very good and provided a good break between meals.
The food was very good; considering that there were 700 covers it was even better!

Great venue for hair and beauty shows. The atmosphere and the history of the place always makes it a pleasure to take students there.

Lovely building and a great venue. The parking and limited local hotel rooms at busy times let it down a little but it is still a great venue.

Very good event space. Attended the UCAS 'Design your future' event here. Well maintained venue with good location to city centre amenities.

Nice space and very professional staff. However, it can get a bit cold in winter if you're exhibiting there and the visitors haven't arrived to warm things up! In addition, take your own lunch - the only option I could find within the building was overpriced, uninspiring sandwiches. There are some shops within walking distance, but it depends on how long you have available for your break!

Too many accessibility issues for a better rating. Conference rooms behind heavy double doors and no one available to help. Smaller conference rooms had no space for a wheelchair user and space could not easily be made as the chairs were linked together. A very upsetting and degrading experience at a professional event.

indoor people are very rude. they do not allow enter. it is a building only to rich people. disappointing !!! and ... no me importa las frikadas que vendais. qoj

Huge convention centre, with ample parking underneath and around. Yards away from the metrolink it's easy to get to, and there is a costa coffee on the street corner which is useful. Exhibited lots of times and it's always a joy to come to.

This is such a beautiful venue for exhibitions. Front desk staff are very helpful.
The only let down is the wifi is so hit and miss. Esp since phone reception seems weak in there.

Massive place; been to a number of events here with the latest being Comic Con 2016 and its always ran smoothly. Queuing tends to be a bit chaotic but I wouldn't want to manage that amount of people.

We went there for Manchester MCM Comic con over the weekend and the venue was much more prepared than last year, as it was too warm they added aircon into the halls to cool people down and the venue has the best seating area for all cons we have been to.

This convention centre is inside the restored main railway station which was decommissioned in the 1960s - as an exhibition space it's architecturally interesting compared with the normal anonymous boxes. Right in the city centre it's surrounded by bars and hotels so the visitor will find everything within a short walk. The catering, which I assume was provided by the venue was also of a very high standard.

Great event location, easy access for setting up/tearing down. Good facilities.

I went here for a work's Xmas party and had a great time! The staff were amazing and the parking charges reasonable (even though mine was paid for) the venue is easy to find too so no worries about trying to find your way there.
Inside it is huge and for our Xmas party there were fairground rides!!!

It's a great big venue, do big it would be easy to get lost. Nice to see it being used for larger events. However, the sound is not that good

The main hall seating could be a bit more comfortable and the a/v needs work, but it's a good conference hall, roomy and well organised.

TLDR; Sounds bad, looks great.
We went to see Disclosure Live here in November. Visually very impressive venue and enough space that the sold out show didn't feel too crowded. They didn't put on any coat room and the toilets were managed a bit strangely but I believe his to be the fault of the event organisers as opposed to the venue. As far as sound goes it wasn't great, the enormous space over head coupled with the gigantic semicircular wall at the opposite end to the stage meant there was a huge amount of unwanted reflection on the mids.

I have been to a few events at the Manchester Central Convention complex, they have always been great lots of space and great location within the city. I never worry about going to a convention or event here my most recent were comic con and UCAS design your future.

Not so much a review of the venue as a review of the production company but we went excited for a ninja warrior filming and left feeling like dehydrated, starved hostages. Granted they are free tickets but they had us queuing to get in for ages, standing and cheering on cue once inside and made people feel guilty for leaving after 3 hours with no refreshments available. Glad our kids are too little to take because they would've hated it. The entertainment value just wasn't worth the effort.

Attended Bricktastic, a Lego themed convention. Fabulous venue. Also visited the cafe which was surprisingly good value for money! Staff friendly and accommodating.

Wonderfully well run & organised for such a large venue. Incredibly easy to get to by public transport and, being in the city centre, pleny of other interest aroundabouts.
