Significant incorrect information was adverised with a property sale listing. If this was listed correctly we wouldn't have even viewed the property or offered. Marvellous experience from start to finish in facilitating the sale of my apartment. Whilst other estate agents had suggested properties in my apartment block could not be successfully sold, Bridgfords seemed to make it their mission to prove their competitors wrong. Really valued the local knowledge, insights and personal approach from the senior valuer, Zahid Maqbool, who won our custom by being way ahead of competitors in all these respects. The marketing was exemplary, honest, and up front about some issues in the apartment block that meant we would be looking for a cash buyer, and, despite this, they generated plenty of interest. Potential buyers were screened before being showed around on our behalf, by the wonderful sales consultant, Lydia Flynn, who deserves special credit for tackling the stairs multiple times a day while the apartment lifts were out of action!! Offers flowed, and despite one abortive sale, and another lengthy transaction, we completed a few days ago. Lydia was brilliant at chasing solicitors and making sure things were remaining on track. I know the estate agent fees represent a significant cost when selling a property, and many people are now attracted to DIY / internet agency approaches, but I can honestly say I felt that every penny spent with Bridgfords was completely worthwhile and felt exceptional value for money given the work they put in, their responsiveness and support. I am here to take back my good experience with Daniel from Bridgfords. I initially thought they were a good letting agency, but after 4 weeks I have come to conclude they and their affiliates (Connells group) are bad letting agents and should be avoided. They made my first renting experience in the UK a terrible and stressful one. All they were after was our holding deposit. After providing all the necessary informations from our part, and delaying with their 3rd party referencing (Keysafe), they are now threatening to withdraw our application. They don’t reply their emails or contact you for updates, you have to be the one pursuing them. Their staffs are equally rude. 1. It is already over a month after rental contract end in May. We have not received deposit back. We sent email but never received reply. 2. We added one person in the contract after two months of the contract start. The agent did not inform the contract ending date is automatically extended by another two months, we only knew until the original contract end time, by when we already have made plans elsewhere. 3. The agent again just asked for key return and tell us they will put the property on market (‘try’ to get someone move in and get two month prepaid rent refunded) but again not informed that we cannot get the key back once it is on the market until we find out this when we decided not to proceed with this uncertainty. 4. Upon moving into our property we were met with excessive damp, broken appliances and plaster dust throughout the property, this was logged extensively with Bridgfords at the time who told us the broken washing machine, dryer and oven was just "bad luck" despite them being marked working on the move in inventory. I had to ring the landlord team to speak to someone as the Tenant line was constantly left to ring out, just complete lack of care once your money is coming in. Moving forward the property was extremely susceptible to damp with it being painted 3 times during our tenancy. The scaffolding we were assured would be coming down as the issue had been resolved was taken down after 3 months, it was put back up 3 months before the end of the tenancy as the damp had never been solved. During the tenancy the Housing Association told us due to the poor service of Bridgfords they would be handling the management of the property. They were no better and when it came to moving out the contact was solely from Bridgfords, not as expected. The move out process was excruciating as every little aspect was deemed our fault despite the state of the property at move in being appalling. Of course they just want to get as much money out of you as possible. We were advised the deposit release was processed only for it actually to be processed the following week, the deposits rep has been extremely apathetic and unresponsive. As a whole these are the types of Estate Agents that make people hate Estate Agents. A complete lack of care for tenants, straight up lying about the property and a desire to squeeze any money possible from you. A truly disgusting experience and it is upsetting that Agents like this are what Students and foreign citizens have to deal with when they come to Manchester. Money grabbing, apathetic and rude. These repairs should have been sorted before we moved in as we had agreed in our contract. Broken washing machine and faulty oven that took nearly 3 weeks to sort. We spoke to our landlord directly, who didn't even know how many issues there was and he couldn't even get through himself. Please save yourself some stress and do not let anywhere from Bridgfords. My experience was in 2019 - posting now because I never did at the time due to stress. I'd told Bridgfords that my ceiling was leaking multiple times. All they did was paint the ceiling back white. When it got to the point that rainwater was literally pouring into my living room from the ceiling, all of the sockets and the lightshade and the fire alarm started to go off as well they took notice and said it wasn't safe and that I should probably leave. After asking them where they expected me to go last minute, they provided me with one option which was an unfurnished, very dirty assisted living home. To add insult to injury they didn't return my deposit 'because I didn't do a thorough clean' before I left. As if the whole ceiling, flooring and electrics didn't need to be ripped up and replaced. I happily used Curtis and Bains from 2007-2014 when they were then taken over by Bridgfords who I wasn't particularly happy with due to constantly having to chase up phone calls and email replies. I considered leaving them many times. However during the last 2-3 years I noticed an ongoing improvement which has been a pleasure. My recent change of tenancy has been dealt with professionally, efficiently and smoothly by Daniel Bright, Charlotte Curtis-Woods and Sue Atkinson. Each has kept me fully updated each step of the way and quickly responded to my calls or emails which is excellent and gives me peace of mind that I'm in capable hands. (However, I'm yet to receive a reply to an out of office reply stating "will be in touch as soon as possible after the 10th of May" from Matthew, regarding confirmation that the deposit has been returned to the previous tenant). Steer clear! The most difficult agents I have ever rented from. My housemate and I stayed at our apartment for 2 and a half years, which might sound silly when leaving such a bad review. However, to be fair to them the location was great and the rental price was good too. However, we had a HUGE list of issues upon moving in, and struggled to get them fixed. These weren't just small jobs that we could get by without. Units were literally hanging off the walls (actually hitting my housemate when they did fall down). Now when we come to move out, we are being charged for the same things we tried to get fixed when moving in. When speaking to the landlord, he said he was charged £1500 to pay for the issues before we moved in. So I assume they are charging both the tenant and landlord for jobs, and pocketing what they can. Firstly we are giving 1 star only because we could not choose 0. Bridgfords is an absolute disaster, we never had such a disgusting experience with a letting agent. Renting with them has become one of the most frustrating experiences in my life, after getting the keys and paying you are forgotten. We have been left down in any possible way. There are many episodes I could talk about, from the time I reported an heavy case of black mould behind the bed and I have been told from the property manager to do an EXPERIMENT, wiping that off and waiting to have it again to understand "how bad that was", to the time I have been called a LIAR because they did not receive payments from us when of course monies were living my account regularly. Turns out THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG REFERENCE NUMBER ( I have emails to prove it). Do you think someone apologies for that? No. And I have so much more to add. I spoke to the agent and asked a few questions, she was really rude so I asked for the manager. A guy called Nick came on the phone and said he was the manager, I explained the conversation between myself and his colleague and told him if he wanted he could listen to the recording of the call as all calls are recorded and monitored. He told me he didn’t need to listen to anything as he trusts in his colleague. This is basically calling me a liar. The treatment changed as soon as I told them my name which is an asian name. I was really excited about this property and was hoping to get some simple info on the house but they have completed disappointed me and their reputation in my eyes. After vacating a rental property, took 2 weeks to receive updates and details on refund of deposit (after 2 weeks have still not been refunded). Basically amounted to me having to do their work in facilitating contact with the land lord so as to obtain approval for release of the deposit. If there was an option to give 0 stars I would. Put my property in the market with this branch and it was the worst real estate experience ever. I wasted two months with these guys. Lack of communication, constant errors, lie to you and really believe that everyone is an idiot. Gave the wrong keys to the new agent. Lied to rightmove above my Termination when I complained about still being listed despite giving my two week notice, I had to send several emails to prove I was not the lier. They arranged five viewings for my property AFTER I served them notice and they didn’t show up to the viewing, they called my tenant and asked her to do the viewing. I got to the point where I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. Unfortunately the worst person to speak to is the Branch Manager who claims he is going to sack the people in branch for their errors. I recently rented a new apartment in Manchester City Centre through this estate agent. I used them previous for my current apartment. The property itself has had a lot of issues in terms of problems with the furnishings. The letting agent Rob has been a great help but I feel Bridgford as a whole were more interested in getting this place turned around and rented out quickly that a lot of key feature repairs have still not been completed, I also did most of the cleaning myself as they either did not hire a cleaner or if they did he/she must of been slightly blind. I am a bit upset as I was rushed to pay the deposit etc for a certain date and the place was clearly not ready. Again I have used this very estate agent previous and have had no issues so I know this is not a regular occurrence, hence the high rating. Great service, friendly team As a landlord I've used these guys twice, both times they've rented my flat out really quickly, advised feedback from viewers to allow me to make improvements when I'm remote I can't see for myself. The flat has been rented out in a couple of weeks to lovely tenants that have been fully checked. Paul the manager has always replied to emails or calls within a couple of hours, and Daniel who sorted viewings this time was really helpful calling me with feedback. Great team. The only drawback is their centralised services (its really not uncommon tho) their accounts team let them down with lack of communication but that happens at most big agents. I rent with these guys currently and never will again. Unhelpful staff that don't even pretend to care. The automated system to report issues is sterile, difficult to use as many issues aren't options. The property wasn't cleaned properly when we moved in. We've been having a consistent mould problem that was an issue when the previous tenants lived there as i can see the problem areas have been re-painted. Bridgfords have given us no advice how to stop it, and simply cite our Contract and warn us that we will be charged for mould damage. Cheap paint used throughout the flat that gets dirty easily and comes off if touched. There was also paint on the floor of every room. Had to wait a week before a small leak got fixed. Had to wait a week before getting a broken washing machine looked at and a further week to get a replacement. 2 stars are just because it was easy to secure the property and the office looks very professional. (Even though we had issues when viewing as the agent didn't arrive). The website design is professional also.... Read more

Whilst this branch boasts an impressive collection of (internal!) awards. My experience of Bridgfords has been less than satisfactory. They possess no customer experience skills and appear to lack any basic office or process management skills. They have the attitude of that once they have your money, they no longer care. I have hadn't had to deal with them yet with regards to any property issues. There's been a few things that have given me a bitter taste of this company. When going through the application process. You had to chase up to see whether the referencing and financial backgrounds checks had been completed so you could complete the process of getting the keys. I had to pay a £50 fee (I appreciate this is less than the £100 they advertise as the fee) for a guarantor check to find out that they didn't need to but offered no refund on the basis that the check had been done. However doing a quick google search reveals that is common practice for agents to use third parties who charge a small fraction of the actual cost that is passed on to the tenant. They should offer a guarantor check only if the other credit reference check gives a poor rating. I was contacted regarding a flat inspection. They made no effort to specify a rough time they would be visiting or whether they require me to be there to access the flat. Surely you would know if you already have a set of keys?! I contacted Michael Roberts to try and arrange a time but I never received a response which I find extremely arrogant and rude.... Read more

Poor effort in 'trying' to help and resolve multiple issues that have been raised BEFORE we moved into our apartment. You would think that if several of the team members tell you that they 'promise' to ring you by today you would expect a call, if not at least make some sort of an effort to write an email to us tenants explaining why no one is ringing, why we have to waste our own time by taking time off work waiting for people to fix these issues (not a single thing has been sorted yet btw). Incredibly unreliable estate agency. Haven't ever had to deal with such an awful experience than with Bridgfords. Cannot be trusted with what is being said until SOMETHING has actually been fixed. If it was an option of 0 stars, I would definitely select that. Extremely poor customer service and such a bad experience. Despite us being on time with all payments for deposit and rent, here we are, a month after we moved in, still chasing a number of minor works that have yet to be completed, which were agreed a month before we moved in and confirmed by the team. It is clear that they have issues with internal communication as well as not accepting the fact that they're responsible for multiple issues that were raised. Dealing with the Property Management team has been terrible with Adam being very vague in answers and poor in communication and even Chloe, the manager, has not been able to deal with the situation. Demi, the sales negotiator who dealt with my purchase was excellent right from the start and any time I had a question she responded to my call/email very quickly. If minus stars were an option, that's what I would give this agency. Absolute stress from start to finish and I've never been so glad to leave an apartment. Within a week of moving in we were told the property had been on the market and they wanted to show people round. The ringing was constant, even after being firm that visits would not be allowed as we should have been told about this beforehand. Many things in the flat were still broken and have never been fixed in the 14 months we lived there this includes a shower that we couldn't use after constantly asking for it to be fixed which has caused damage to the property. It's nice that we had to pay our full rent when we didn't have a fully working flat the entire time we were there. No good communication. Still waiting on any response regarding getting our deposit back even after the 10 allocated days and trying to get in to contact. (Fuming) Avoid at all costs. The fees are also extortionate.... Horrific experience with this agency. We were about to send an aplication for renting a house with the agency in Northwich and they told me nobody was interested on the property yet. They informed us we have to pay 520£ just on fees. 300£ just for the tenancy agreement!! We were shocked about that but we asked them anyway to e-mail us the fees so we could see on writting and send the application and pay the deposit and fees. Unfortunatly they have not sent us anything and I have to call them again the day after to ask what was happening. A few hours later they called me and said that the landlord had another tennants interested in the property and they put them forward before us!!! How un-profesional is that. I have to say that there are no letting agencies in Cheshire (at least) where they charge £300 just on the letting agreement (just for changing the names in a document!!!). A nightmare to deal with. At the end of our tenancy, both my flatmate and I had to jump through many hoops to get our deposit back- it was unnecessarily long-winded and stressful. They messed up at the start of the contract by not asking me to pay an admin fee (this was also overlooked by 3 different people) and wouldn't release the deposit til I paid the fee, even though there is no mention of having to pay a fee in the documents I signed. They stopped answering my phone calls and I constantly got lied to about being contacted back whenever i eventually did get through or when I went into the office. If i could leave a 0 i would. My contract was transferred from 1 company to another the same month my contract expired (i assume the company's merged or my letting agent went bust). Me and my partner payed for a credit check and to resign the contract but nothing came about it. After no contact from the old company we continued to pay our rent and waited, still no contact. Fast forward 4 months and i receive a call asking if we are still in the property and why our account is 3 months rent missing. I explain that we have been paying as usual, the normal amount to the normal account. I am introduced to my new estate agents 4 months after my contract expired, no courtesy call or letter to let us know. They of coarse cannot find the lost cash in the old account and i have to pay for bank statements to show the missing rent, credit check and contract fee's because of this incompetence. I am still dealing with this situation, but i can say i am not best pleased with them. 4 months no contact and the only reason they rang was because they think we are not paying. Then they cannot find payments made to the account over a 5 month period costing me a large amount of cash in the process. I imagine there are going to be some major issues with this situation regarding my deposit if this is the standard. Iv been forced into being with them, I hope they improve and i'm wrong, but think twice if your planning to use them. I went to see the property after current tenancy lapsed. The property was in a really bad condition where the tenants had edged their names on the walls, stained the carpets and walls were damaged too. When I went back to the letting agents I get fobbed off. I'm in the process of getting back what I am owed and it is proving to be extremely difficult. They never respond to your phone calls. They say someone will call you back they never do plus I feel their services are too overly priced for what they do for you. I would research and go elsewhere. I will never use these guys again.... I just got my property back from Bridgfords after they "managed" its letting for almost four years. When I got back my property it had not been cleaned, it was filthy. There were holes in the walls that I had not agreed upon and I have so far not even received the copy of the final inventory. When I went to their office I was given my keys back and they did not even ask for a document of identity. The Council did not get notified of the vacancy of the apartment and therefore they came out with charges that now I could have suspended pending evidence to be provided by my side. The worst letting agent ever! The most unprofessional, rude and incompetent staff! Especially Michelle Wright and Michael Roberts. Completely messed with up my contract, had to wait 1 week before received my house keys (after paying deposits and rent). No curtains or blinds in my bedroom for the whole year. Broken furniture and broken window handles which was never fixed. At the end of my tenancy they made up fictional claims to reduce the deposit. For example making me pay for damages which were made by previous tenants. Making me pay for screws being loose and the expense it cost to screw them back. Billing me for cleaning that was done by myself. The staff in the office never responded to my calls and emails. I’ve never experienced such a terrible service in my life. Avoid at all costs!... This company failed to provide adequate service and although they took money for the management of the property they didn't provide a professional service. They used a separate company for maintenance that failed to respond to phone calls and then claimed they had no responsibility in ensuring work was completed. I would recommend renting your property privately or going direct to a private landlord. At the end of the tenancy they failed to return the deposit and one months rent overpaid. Look, the staff are fine... they do what every other estate agent is supposed to do: find you somewhere to rent. Here's the BIG problem, and why they should be avoided at ALL COSTS. 1. Read their small print - they charge you unnecessary fees that are wholly disproportionate. 2. Once they have your money to 'take the property off the market' - you become a low priority... even if they are aware you will be homeless in the stupid amount of time it takes them to get it sorted. 3. They are NOT a full service agency. Once you eventually move into a place - all maintenance and other dealings are handled by several none responsive, ignorant and rude 3rd party companies. If you visit Bridgfords about their poor performance you will be fobbed off as if you are wasting their time (as technically, you are - despite a health risk in your house). Bottom line, go elsewhere if you can and make sure you read the small print. The staff are nice, professional and do their job but once they have your money - the company is no longer interested in anything else from there on out and simply refers you to the 3rd party companies that do the work they should really be doing.
