I used Hunters just over a year ago, found them tricky, lazy and was given bad advice throughout. At one point I asked if they could give me any other advice apart from drop the price which I had done on two previous occasions. The price I started with was one they had advised me to go with. They said they would get back to me with the advice, but never did. When I did eventually sell to a couple who had viewed the house when it was at the higher price and had been trying to sell their house since, I was still charged at the higher rate(1% of £425,000) and not the price they had advised me to drop it to £385,000. The couple who purchased the house told me they thought it was worth more and would have been happy to pay the higher price but could not as they had not sold theirs at the time.
I am glad I have sold and I am not too worried about the drop in price as I was down sizing, but young families in a situation where you might be buying a bigger property and need every penny, I would advice try one of the online companies. I have since had dealings with Purple bricks through family selling a house and they have been brilliant. They worked far harder then Hunters, got many more views, gave good advice and did not try and rip them off. All at a tenth of the price.... Read more
