Well What can i say about Gavin and his Team at Northwood. Nothing other than a fantastically professional outfit. They actually never got to sell my house for me due to it being with someone else first. But do you know they never stopped supporting me though phone calls making sure i was being treated fairly by the other party. I am a joint executor for the estate of a cousin who passed away in December 2020. We used Northwood for the sale of two residences in Ashford. As the first property was already mid-sale at the time of death, we had to halt the sale for several months. With the uplift in the market, we as executors were legally obliged to maximise the value of the estate. Accordingly, we instructed Northwood to give the buyers a few days to increase the offer. This was not forthcoming, so we instructed Northwood to re-market the property. We quickly received new offers and achieved an 11% increase on the price from the previous sale. Northwood then marketed the second property and secured 16 viewings in one week; all conducted without any need to attend by us. We received several offers and agreed a sale at 12% higher than the estate valuation. These sales represent a great result for the estate beneficiaries. Northwood’s fees were highly competitive, and I have no hesitation recommending the team at the Ashford office. Mark & Gavin were professional, communicative and gave independent advice when needed. It is always a very difficult decision when you have to rent your home and you become a landlord. It is mentally challenging as you have to leave your own house and also think that it should be in the right hands to manage your house in your absence. I used Northwood Ashford to sell my property in Knights Park, marketing from early December and completing in mid April. The valuation and marketing strategy were handled by Mark, who demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the local market and provided me with an honest and achievable asking price for the house. (Higher than my initial expectations and valuations from other local agents!) Viewings, offer negotiation and sales progression were expertly handled by Gavin. Throughout the process I was completely informed of prospective buyer's feedback and once an offer had been accepted he enabled a smooth transaction by regular updates to all parties. I believe that you get what you pay for when it comes to estate agents and am glad that I went with a local agency who understood the Ashford market rather than cheaper online alternatives. I have experienced a number of estate agents recently and over the years. When choosing a new estate agent in Ashford I tried out three. Northwood stood out for me in the first five seconds, a lovely greeting from the person in the office and 'would you like a tea or a coffee?' (I may have looked rather tired having seen a couple of other estate agents that morning!) When Mark and I spoke it quickly became obvious that he was very knowledgeable of the local areas and very experienced; in addition he was the consummate professional. This was the Estate Agent for me, and I was not disappointed. Mark lined up potential buyers and sold the property on the first viewing day! Impressive. Northwood was dealing with the property that I was buying and certain things were being held up on the other side in regards to the selling of my property, this had nothing to do directly with Northwood but the agent Gavin got things moving when the deal was at a stalemate. Gavin went out of his way to get the deal done. Gavin has been a pleasure to work with, he made the whole thing bearable when I thought it might fall through. My mum viewed a property which was under northwood, she was able to pay the deposit as well as willing to move within a week however the woman who was dealing with the renting was unprofessional and rude . She provided little to no information about the process and to top that off was really patronising. Although we were the first ones to view/ fill in the forms for the property, without informing us she accepted the deposit from another customer and told us last minute when we were nearly ready to move! Awful. Had to chase twice for rent payments. Came back to missing white goods and tools, damaged work surface in kitchen, broken front door lock, shed full of rubbish. And they told me they had checked the tenants out and there were no problems! Did not do a proper inventory- light switches and taps not included as fixtures and fittings. All the tools were not included. The walls all marked down as minor cosmetic damage even in the rooms where a professional had just decorated! Even if they had done a proper inventory it wouldn’t have made a difference as they didn’t do a checkout report. Apparently a whole afternoon after the tenants left didn’t give them time, so they went in, checked it was tidy then left. Didn’t even notice the massive gap left by a fridge freezer and washing machine. Since then they have been full of excuses and I am going to the ombudsman as their own complaints process is a waste of time... Read more

It’s a shame that I have to give them one star. I used them as a landlord and could not have had a worse experience. I came back to missing white goods, missing tools, screws and picture hooks in the walls, damaged kitchen work surface, shed full of the tenants possessions and even a bin (with no bottom) of dog feces in the garden. They did an incomplete inventory which I was never sent a copy of until the tenancy finished and I requested it because of the issues- fixtures and fittings as basic as light switches and taps have been missed off and every wall even those just painted by a professional decorator described as minor cosmetic damage. There was no checkout report done. I arranged to move back in three days after the tenancy ended however Northwood extended this by two days and claimed that from midday on the day the tenants left did not give them time to do a checkout report and never flagged this as an issue to me until I complained about all the issues I had and requested a copy of the checkout report. I also had to twice ask for rent. In the April they did not pay it in and I had to ask for the payment, then for the two extra days that the tenants stayed after their last payment- this payment I had to chase twice for. To top it off my complaint is met with examples of when they have done their job as if it excuses not doing the rest. I am taking this to the property ombudsman as they are not only in breach of the contract they had with me but also the guidelines they are supposed to operate within. If anyone would like to see evidence of this I have kept all the emails etc... Read more
