Purchased a property through Richards, took nearly 12 months to complete the deal, this was down to the seller asking a totally unrealistic price. But Joel at Richard's worked tirelessly to get the property at a more realistic price a long with great communication at all times from him.
Good experience, even though it took nearly a year to sort, but got there in the end thanks to Joel.

On walking into Richard's we were greeted by a very polite receptionist who arranged a viewing for the same day with Joel who was very knowledgeable about the property and area.
Next day we put in an offer which came back very quickly accepted. Any correspondence was dealt with in a very polite and professional manner.

I would advise anyone to avoid using this letting agency wherever possible. Upon viewing a property let by Richards. I explained to the agent that I would only be interested in applying if the property if it was definitely available long term. The agent assured me that while there are never any guarantees when renting, the landlords were looking for long term tenants and were “emigrating, permanently, with no intention of returning”. This move would mean changing my daughter’s school and I was clear about this too. Having been reassured we applied and were successful. We were offered a 6 month tenancy which would go on to a month on month contract after that. At this point we checked again if this was due to any uncertainty the landlords had about moving away. We were always assured, the landlords had moved indefinitely. On moving in, there were a few more alarm bells. One of which was a note from the landlords which signed off with “we hope you enjoy your stay”
We later asked a neighbour if the landlords would mind if we contacted them directly to ask a question to which they agreed. We wanted to ask about the possibility of a small dog because when the property was advertised the add said “pets considered for £25 extra per month” The agency wouldn’t ask the landlords, so we asked them directly. They said no and offered the illuminating information that they were enjoying their “year sabbatical”
We then went back to the agency, extremely upset and worried, asking them to be clear with us. We were then ignored with no response to our questions for almost two weeks, then received an email from another agent accusing us of harassing his colleague because we sent two emails were in need of answers. Needless to say we had to move again after 6 months.
I have no issue with there being no guarantees when renting, I am aware of the vulnerability of it. What I find unforgivable is the lying to get someone in. Knowing that we are a family with a child to consider, knowing that the key thing we needed was a home to feel settled in, they looked us in the eye and lied. We then had to sit back and watch while they showed other families with small children around when the property was re advertised “long term” AGAIN, so that they could get some more money for the last six months of their break.
This move cost us dearly and could have all been avoided with just the minimum amount of human decency and transparency. Don’t believe a word they tell you.

We have been deceived by this agency and paid the consequences of trusting them. They advertised a property for rent as a “long term rent” knowing that the landlords would come back in about a year.
This has been confirmed by the landlords themselves, also by the neighbours (landlord’s friends).
We organised our life around the fact we trusted them, we ended up having to move in about 6 months because we never felt home, knowing that the landlords would come back.
It’s the worst agency we have ever used, don’t trust them.

Broomhill Way!!! Still on the market whilst many similar properties let by straight away. Should avoid this estate agent at all cost, we put an offer for rent last year, was told we would be informed on the 28th of December then I phoned and was then told 3rd of January, that day came and went, kept phoning up for updates, the property is still available, and we were not communicated with and just sent an email stating we were unsuccessful. I believe that offer was not even forwarded to the landlord, and I feel that they are withholding offers to the landlord, they are very unprofessional in their handling of clients, I have since got a property, and I found out on the same day that I was accepted. Again, avoid these estate agents. Good luck to all the landlords advertising their properties with them.

The (office manager) was extremely rude when dealing with our offer for purchasing a property and also refused to forward an offer we made which we are advised is their legal obligation to do. UPDATE: Shame the response to my review is not entirely accurate but thank you for responding. I think we will agree to disagree on this as it’s clear you will only have your client/owner’s interests at heart. I do hope the lovely family moving in are as respectful to the property as we were as the Landlords are very nice people: END UPDATE. Rude and arrogant approach to their tenants, no experience of their service as an Owner and would certainly not use now as an Owner knowing how rude they are to tenants. Owner of the business comes across as arrogant so expected that the staff follow suit which was the case on occasion. We were excellent tenants, left property in a better state than when we got it, as we are extremely respectful of the fact we were living in someone else's house. Would never recommend this company for a letting or as an Owner. One good thing is their processes are very thorough and inventory check process was very good and very detailed as was reference process. Shame the attitude towards tenants does not reflect their excellent lettings processes. We did not feel like valued tenants, more that we were just a commodity, the human touch was definitely missing here!

You gave good advice and on numerous occasions the property was let and re-let promptly with all change issues taken care of. You always kept us 'in the loop' and we have received very positive feedback from tenants.
When ready to sell you again adviced us soundly all the way through. When the first deal fell through, the property was re-marketed very promptly, with new offers coming very quickly. You have kept us informed and pushed for action every step of the way.
You are all professional, efficient, personable and extremely thorough. You were very empathetic when difficult situations arose. It is quite something to be told by your solicitor that 'Your agents are certainly on the ball'.

We would like to thank James and Amy at Richards for everything they did for us during our somewhat stressful house move. They weren't even the estate agents we were paying for but every time we hit another issue with our buyer they put in so much effort to get it resolved and added pressure to the right people to get the move to happen. I can't even imagine the service they offer their own clients and there is certainly only one choice for us now if we choose to move again and that'll be Richards Estate Agents!
