I cannot recommend Strakers enough. We’ve had a nightmare trying to sell our house (not because of the house it was beautiful! but due to buyers not really having a clue or being very honest during the process!). What Strakers provided was someone to discuss and push on your behalf when things were getting extremely tense and stressful. We lost a sale due to first time buyers messing us around and not understanding the buying process but we managed to sell our house again within a week! The team were lovely from the get go, each and everyone we met kept us informed and communicated with us extremely well at every single viewing. Also huge shot out to Helen - literally everyone needs a Helen when buying and selling! We cannot thank Helen enough for the times she supported us and made it much less stressful. Helen was not just a negotiator, keeping everything on track but my much needed counsellor when things got super stressful! I would not hesitate recommending Strakers to anyone and if we ever move (never again when pregnant ????????) we will certainly be using them. Thank you all so much for your efforts in getting us sold and moved before our babies are here.... Read more

Strakers have been managing my rental properties since I moved them over from another property management company about four years ago. I live outside the UK so rely very heavily on the staff of the management company to be my eyes and ears and provide good communication. Recently one of my properties needed a total rehab due to its age, and that included a completely new kitchen in addition to flooring and paint. Nicky Wall oversaw every detail including visiting the property at the weekend. The attention she paid to the contractors and the workmanship was outstanding, it was as if it were her own property that she was managing, and you can't ask for more than that.... Read more

We've had a mixed experience of Strakers. We have both rented and bought a property from them in the last couple of years and you never quite know what you're going to get, some have been lovely, really personable and genuine whilst others have been quite rude and standoff-ish. Having read a little about cleaning charges with Strakers, we understand as landlords ourselves that properties need to be vacated in a clean condition but charging us cleaning fees for cleaning behind radiators seemed a bit ridiculous. Whilst we were buying a property with them recently, the agent showing us round didn’t have any more knowledge about the houses than was written on the website. We were looking at old properties at the end of the day so it’s useful to know, how old is the boiler, has it been serviced, have the electrics had any work recently etc. They didn’t have keys for any of the outbuildings and when given questions to ask the sellers, we received no response from them. As much as I would like to say their efficiency made up for some of the personality traits, unfortunately it didn’t and imagine I’d be pretty disappointed if I was the seller leaving them in charge and paying for their services.... We rented using this company for over two long years. The warning signs were there on day one when we had to draw up an important contractual document with them at the beginning of our tenancy, and a member of staff asked us how to print something out on Microsoft Word; eventually my partner did it for her. She then proceeded to get the date wrong, and asked us to sign something on a blank piece of A4 that wasn't letter-headed or anything. When we ended the tenancy, similar to the case in other reviews I have read, we were told everything looked fine, and that there would be no trouble getting the deposit back, only to receive a call a few hours later saying they had found "water marks on the door handles" and other non-existent issues with the cleanliness of the place, which was somehow meant to set us back £120. This was curious considering when we moved into the place it was far from clean, things were left from the previous tenant, the shower screen was dirty and there were dirty streaks in the toilet. We eventually managed to claw back £30 of the £120 by virtually begging Strakers to do their job and find a better quote, but still feel aggrieved and cheated because a clean was not at all necessary. The quotes provided were mostly emails from Outlook accounts, rarely official-looking or itemised. It seems that this is a common tactic at the end of a tenancy - beware. On other occasions, we were left without heating for nearly a week during a cold snap in November and had to stay at a nearby hotel, for which we were never compensated; we had a faulty CO alarm which was never replaced despite us asking for it; our spare key was lost by an equally poor third party contractor and we were given the third degree by Strakers; we were repeatedly patronised and often emails would go ignored. We were usually the last to know about major changes, often after the neighbours. During check-out our Strakers representative for the past two years couldn't remember the first name of the Landlord or what we did for a living. The representative made sure that we knew however how stressful her job was. On more than one occasion our landlord suggested wearily that we bypass Strakers entirely to make life easier for everyone. I have rarely felt more relieved than on these occasions.... Read more

Even 1 star is too much for a rude ,disrespectful staff who is handling lettings and actually she was threating us not to give our deposit back.Talking to the customer very bosy and ignoring the answering the questions. I actually made my report to the strakers and talked to a member of a staff but somehow I ve never got my apology from that spoilt person.I start thinking that she could be either rasist or seeing us a poor tenant .its a big shame a keeping someone at this office with full authority.I don't recommend lettings in Devizes office at all.
