Despite pointing out that the property we were letting did not reach the EPC standards, this agent persistently defended the landlord and failed to acknowledge that letting out a property with the lowest rating possible was not acceptable in terms of current legislation. They also re-let the next door house on behalf of the same landlord, not once, but twice, following the April 2019 deadline which prohibited renting properties which were below the accepted E level. When we moved out and tried to address this with them (having had no satisfactory help when we did live there) they were totally on the side of the landlord and refused to acknowledge wrongdoing. They continued to let out G rated properties throughout 2019 and 2020 and then affectively blamed us for the fact that an EPC (with a G rating) was not performed until November 2020. They also tried to use the excuse that our rent was lower to account for the very high cost of heating a house (which was LPG, a 1972 system and no radiators in the bedrooms).
