The worst experience we have ever had with an estate agency. I have waited 4 years to post this as we were still waiting on the deposit that they stole from us before we had even vacated the property. We called the deposit people and they confirmed this! Red Flags! SAFETY Alex Marks seemed fine at first but when we had serious issues at the property (gas leak that led to hospitalisation) Tony sent over a gas man that literally lied to us called Luke (or we think he wasn’t a real gas engineer). We called in the national service and the gas man got on the phone for us and told Alex Marks the property wasn’t safe. Also the boiler wasn’t placed properly leading to a sewage issue. Alex Marks gave us no where else to stay or compensation. We had flagged the gas issues before and they made us feel like dramatic women. There was extensive mould we had to get rid of ourselves. They blamed things on the landlord, but when we got in touch with the landlord he said it was them that managed the property. We all three left hospital with chemical poisoning. Except for me (because of the large hole in my wall lol that they never did anything about). 2. TERRIBLE HYGIENE. They made us pay for the pest control when we found mice. Also first day the house was in a state with pubes and stuff everywhere as well as a hole in the wall that was never fixed (couldn't use my room in winter) and they claimed it was professionally cleaned. This was resolved as they said we wouldn't have to pay a fee when we left. Even then we cleaned the property very well and left the stuff they had left (bric brac and board games etc) and then they messaged us asking for money to clean the property, claiming it was dirty. 3. STOLEN DEPOSIT they took our deposit before we had even left stating we left things there. The deposit company told us. We had stored their bric brac for a year. We left that there. Other than that the place was spotless. Really! We proved it and compared it to the state the house was in at first yet they still stole our money. We even had picture proof. We got a lawyer involved and after a lot of effort they agreed to pay us our deposit back but then went silent! No money! Either way, If none of this was their responsibility they still treated us like dirt. And was very condescending. DON’T RENT THROUGH THEM!!!... Read more

We have just come to the end of our tenancy at one of Alex Marks' properties. We rented the flat for 3 years and Tony and Alex were always prompt and helpful when we had any issues throughout the 3 years. There were a few times we had to call Tony outside normal office hours and he responded to phone calls even when he was not at work, we really felt he went the extra mile!
