Terrible - avoid! They will promise you the world but once you're in contract they won''t fulfil their contractual obligations and will blame it on having too many customers or staff shortages or every excuse under the sun. Staff are rude and don't seem to know the specifics of their job, and got us mixed up with other properties. Cost us money in the end. There are plenty of other better companies around

I would like to share my sincere and honest thought about Alex Neil Estate agents. My thoughts are so sincere that I I will simply share my email send to them a few days ago, at the end of my fantastic experience with them.
I started with them about 30 years ago, renting my property, and after such a long time I sold my property still though Alex Neil.
So here is my email, I think it says it all:

In the short time I have been dealing with Alex Neil, I have been impressed with their eagerness to go above and beyond what I have come to expect from most agents as I view properties for our first home purchase.
Andrew rearranged a viewing last minute, and was able to find a way to arrange a second private viewing, again at late notice.
On both of these occasions I was greeted by Gary (The Don). Straight talking with a manner that sets you at ease. His advice for first time buyers has been helpful in placing our offer.
On offering, I had a lengthy conversation with Matteo over the phone in 'out of office' hours. Again proving that Alex Neil go above and beyond. Words of advice were exchanged in order to give us a fighting change in presenting our offer in the best manner.
Estate agents get a bad rep, but the three gentlemen above prove to me that there is still good guys out there, helping people on a human level. I want to thank them for that.

My old courteous landlord started the process of selling her house.
Alex Neil tried their best to miscommunicate and not reply to any emails on all 3 sides of the marketplace -- the tenant living in the flat being sold, the new buyer and the old landlord -- left all of them confused.
I had to speak to them individually to understand what was happening etc

I have made an enquiry about the property and got back by email and a phone call. On the phone call I’ve provided all the information, arranged the house viewing for Thursday and was told I will receive the confirmation email. After not receiving the confirmation email I call the number provided 2 hours before the viewing and they tell me there is no viewing for this house under my name. The lady on the phone was not pleasant and slightly rude, had to ask her to be nicer. Afterwards she said that the tenants were working from home today and the viewing had to be cancelled, so no one let me know about it until I called them.
Terrible experience at the early stages, would not want to rent or buy with this company and I don’t recommend for anyone.

WORLDS WORST PROPERTY MANAGERS
They never do anything they say, make things up and cause so many issues. It would be easier / cheaper to manage yourself. Alex Neil destroy relationships between landlords and tenants by sitting back and doing nothing but collecting money. When called out on their mistakes they blame everyone else and never admit to doing anything wrong even though they regularly break tenancy law as well as having no clue of how tenancy law works, run as fast as you can from this joke of an agency. Having looked at further reviews on google it seems that the management has treated many tenants this way and this is the way they work with rental properties they manage! SINCE POSTING THIS REBECCA FROM MANAGEMENT AGENCY PART HAS THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE REGARDING THIS REVIEW! DO IT THIS IS NOT ILLEGAL AND I HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF EVIDENCE TO BACK IT UP!

The agent arrived late to the property we were viewing. We were let in by the current tenants who began an impromptu tour of the property.
A few minutes later, the agent arrived and entered the property without a face covering. He said hello to us before talking to the current tenants in a foreign language.
The current tenants continued their tour whilst the agent hovered and made occasional remarks (some of these in a foreign language).
The agent made a strange comment about Polish women and mentioned that his ex was Polish. Was this an attempt to build rapport? It didn't work.
After finishing our viewing, we asked to know if the landlord accepts pets because we have a cat. The agent failed to give a straight answer. He said we must first make an offer for the property, and then he'll write us a recommendation which the landlord can accept or reject.
We can't make an offer on any property without first knowing that it meets our requirements.
I sent an email to their office to find out if the landlord does accept pets. The reply I got was a template-style reply asking us to make an offer and provide info about our salary, move-in date and so on.
Alex Neil is the only agent we've come across that requires an offer to be made to find out basic information about a rental. The knowledge of whether pets are allowed or not is as basic as it gets. Alex Neil have failed to impress us with the conduct of their agent and the strange requirement of making an offer to find out if pets are allowed.

We were on the market for the sale of our flat with another agent for 8 months without success (with a pause in between due to the first national lockdown). But then we moved to Alex Neil and they found us a buyer in four days. Sara in particular was fantastic – responsive, understanding and efficient. Michelle was also very helpful in chasing the conveyancer and getting the sale through. Not many people can say they managed to sell a flat in a global pandemic but Alex Neil made it happen for us. Can anyone recommend a lawyer? Unbelievable company I would suggest no landlord or Tenant use them.
We have been so badly treated in the one year we lived there. They have not looked after the landlords property or us.
It's not just the deposit we want back now. In addition we will make a far higher claim for their neglect to keep the property safe from electrical hazards and harassment/emotional stress.
The list of violations is endless.
The last insult was when we hired there end of tenancy cleaning company, paid Alex Neil £430.
The end of tenancy is full of outright lies. Even making claims about it not being Clean!

I instructed Alex Neil on the sale of my property in Eglinton Hill, SE18 in November 2020 having been impressed by the initial meeting with the valuation agent. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to expectations in a number of areas:
- The agents take the photographs themselves, rather than using professional photographers. The visual representation of our property was poor and I asked for the photos to be re-taken.
- Our property details were put online without them having been sent to us for checking / approval.
- Communication from the agents during the sales process was poor - both in frequency and quality. There was no sense of being a valued customer who is paying ££££ for a service.
- Whilst Alex Neil did achieve "SSTC" status on our property twice, on both occasions the sale fell through, in my opinion, because the situation was poorly managed and communicated by the "sales completion" department. On both occasions, we were told that the sale had fallen through via a template email - another example of not being made to feel like a valued customer who is spending ££££ on the service. When we telephoned to find out more information about what had happened, the sales completion agent had quite a rant about how busy she was and the long hours she and her team were working with the essence of the conversation being that we were being a nuisance in calling her.
- After the second sale failing to proceed we asked for the contact details of a senior manager in order to provide feedback and were told we would be contacted. However, 2 weeks have now passed and no one has been in touch, hence the reason for providing feedback via this channel.
As context, we are, in parallel, selling another property in a different part of the country via another estate agent. The experiences could not be more chalk and cheese in terms of the quality of service, how valued we feel as a customer and the frequency and quality of communication on a property which will yield a much lower value of commission for the agent.

The tenants that Alex Neil found for us had lost their jobs and stopped paying rent. It took two months to resolve the refund of fees that were collected upfront. We would advise landlords to check carefully the terms and conditions, specifically what happens to the fees collected upfront when the tenant leaves early.

Terrible service provided by our original property manager. Lying, deceptive and disorganised. Deliberately slippery with the way she operated.
Broken window from previous tenants not listed on their pre move in check (we tried to rectify)now 6 months later we receive an email asking how we broke the window.
Absolutely disgraceful and plain lazy.
Would strongly discourage any tenants to sign up with them.

They screwed me out of my deposit. The only highlight -Sara was wonderful! She should really move to a better job! They deducted funds that should have been deducted by the previous tenant. They fixed only a few things which were promised in the beginning and charged me for the rest. They didn't care at all that it was documented how much had been broken when I went in. NEVER use them, EVER.

Completely unprofessional. Several of the agents are contacting me on a a daily basis for weeks in spite of being told at least 5 times that I have concluded my search and do not want any further contact with them.
I am annoyed that I even sent out a simple question regarding one of their flats on zoopla as this is how they got the details in the first place.
Only way of stopping them is blocking numbers/emails as they do not listen. Unfortunately, this is not a fail-safe approach as they will use other emails and numbers to contact you.
Should this continue I will book out appointments under various names and numbers to arrange for viewings and never show. I will also bombard them with countless emails and enquiries to send them on a futile run for their commissions which they no doubt want considering how keen they are on chasing you down...

Warning to fellow landlords,
Beware of this very greedy estate agents.
I instructed them to find tenants for my property. They send you pages and pages of small print terms and conditions which you have to agree to to complete the paperwork.
What you are agreeing to is that if your tenants decide to stay on, then AlexNeil will ask you for their commission for the new period otherwise they will descend on you like a ton of bricks and threaten you with legal action if you do not pay.
Other decent estate agents in the area will charge you commission for tenant finding for the initial contract period and that’s it.
I would never use them again.

We viewed a property on Vassal Road SW9 with Alex Neil estate agents. I wouldn't usually leave a review of an agent based on one viewing but it was so bad I felt I had to. The telephone manner of the agent was unprofessional; shouting down the phone to be heard over the loud house music playing in the office. The property itself was a joke and nothing like the photos. This would have been understandable if priced accordingly.
The agent clearly had no idea about the construction of a building. A general understanding of buildings, their construction and maintenance should be a prerequisite for a professional selling a property considered by them to be worth £525k. Instead he just lied and made up facts.
He told us, completely inaccurately, that the massive crack in the plaster on the stairs was there because it was irreparable; that the reason why the floor was uneven was because the builders ran out of concrete (even though it was obviously a suspended timber floor); and then said the bucket catching water dripping from the ceiling of the bedroom was due to condensation!
I'm giving two stars on the basis that it was the sellers that insisted the property be marketed at £525k.

Suddenly stuck a board sign saying 'let by' in front of our building of 6 flats. Put a fake listing online, with only a photo of the outside accompanied by imaginary generic info about the inside. I called the office to check and the lady falsely claimed that the flat had been let out. All 6 of us confused tenants checked with each other and none of us were moving out, nor had any contact with that agent, meaning this estate agent just put that sign there without any consent. Just free and false advertising for them. Unethical & misleading. Avoid.

I enquired regarding a property with Alex Neil agency. I immediately got a call back from Daniel who informed me the property had gone but he did have another one that we could view immediately. I organised with my friend who could leave work early to view the property at 6:45.
We got to the property in the pouring rain and waited until 6:55 (as traffic was bad). I then tried to call the agency. We were told Daniel was on his way....2 minutes later I was called back saying Daniel had been at the property but we were not there and so he had left to go to another viewing!! I do not like being lied to as we were there at 6:45 and therefore could not of missed him.
We were outside in the pouring rain after both travelled a while to get there after work. I also had a txt message to confirm the booking at 18:45 as well as an email (both sent earlier on that day).
I am very dissapointed with this, It was very inconsiderate and Daniel also had my mobile number and could have called. I do not usually leave bad reviews but this was completely unacceptable.
I will not be going any further with this agency!

I Mr G A Baloch have rented a property from alex o neil from begining the process from viewing and explaining by an agent sara c0mpletly out standing profesional really convincing no time wasting nice 4 bedroom house
once its gone to another department management things get worse and unacceptable from initial paper work till now
i feel like i am trapped in lawless un profesional group of individual who dressed nicely but lack of knowledge no team work
since i moved in i have not receive my check in report i have quite fe issues in the property it takes them weeks to respond no matter how seriouse or emergency is

2. there is a cycle locked on the stairs got rusted (previouse tenants)

late evening 9 pm this cause caused power cut off i checked and one by one realise there is a water going from one bedroom to the ground floor garage call the electric provider to get some advice because there is no advice who to contact in emergency on tenancy agreement ended up i have to take the fuse off from the garage to keep the rest of the house with electric because its cold
i have desperately waited monday call the office told to email us was not use to with that kind treatment well finally sent the managment an email with pictures and damamge of the leak 5 days later some one suddenly appear on door ask for access check everything took pictures and went to inform the office to send profesional
just imagine leak with full extend one of the bedroom is soaked carpet is wet walls ceilings all getting mould after a week long wait smell is horrible i have email called and sent my wife and cousin to office to ask
they managment staff have promissed 04/12/2018 between 2 pm to 4 pm builder will come to solve the problem and taken mobile no of my wife and my cousin written on diary but exactly 3pm received a call from office no body is answearing the builders phone which i refused my cousin refused to aceept specially he told them we are at home just 30 min before
i realise that owner of alex o neil lost the control or intrest of his company reputation just being too relax doesnt matter he is getting enough which also sad i have very big comunity who rent and owns property
i am uploading pictures and video clip of the damage it could have very easy and cheap if it could have resolved or control the leak to save me and my family this stress and poor landlord causing him lot money on this damage

After 3 emails and a lot of calls they decided to fix the leak too late, then we found mites! in all our clothes. More the 300 pounds spent in dry cleaners that they refuse to pay.
Finally we moved to a new flat with a different agency and Alex Neil (not the landlord) want to charge us 150 for a 'professional cleaning' that never existed.. New tenants found the flat in same conditions we left, no one cleaned, how can you charge a service that never happened??
By the way, there was just a key and we made a duplication (they said the landlord would pay for that). I left the receipt in their office but after one year they never paid it, asked for that and they lost it! so they didn´t want to pay the bloody 10 pounds.

I was just informed that cannot move in to the property agreed last minute just 5 days before I move in. We had booked the property almost 2 months in advance. We had them calling us almost everyday for references that was sent to them. Lack of costumer service and finding a solution. I would not recomemder them . Make sure sure that everything is ok before you ended up like me looking for a new house last minute and paying extra money.

I had a pleasure dealing with Anneleen Vanloffeld from Alex Neil as a buyer. She dispelled all negative stereotypes of estate agents by being very courteous, informative and very understanding. On couple of occasions she managed to organize viewings on a very short notice, kept me informed throughout and responded my calls, texts, or emails with astonishing speed.
