I came across this agent by accident, as I was planning to let my property through my normal agent (another local company), this company was open on Saturday (when my original one wasn't!) I was greeted by very friendly staff who promptly advised me of my properties rental potential. This was shortly followed by a visit of my property on the Monday, two days later my property was rented at the full asking price! Due to the excellent service this company provides, they now rent and manage all 9 of my properties in East London.
Horrific! I am a landlord and there is not enough space here to write how bad Alex Neil are to deal with, both their Blackheath branch and their site on Roman road were just so very unprofessional and their practices were actually illegal. Stay well clear. I will never ever use them again. They did not lodge the tenants deposit with the TDS despite advising in writing to both myself and the tenant that they had. The tenant took down a chandalier and they said they asked Alex Neil for permission. The chandelier then didnt work when the tenant moved out. Alex Neil played myself off the tenant, telling the tenant one story and myself another. They said (in writing) the dispute was lodged with the TDS and after about 3 months they gave me a pitiful amount (about a fifth the replacement cost of the chandalier). They said this was settled through the TDS. They lied. I contacted the TDS directly and they said the deposit was never lodged with them and they were obviously therefore not involved in any dispute resolution. The TDS suggested I get a lawyer and take them to Court. I have taken this advise. This was just one appalling problem I had. The list is as long as my arm. A rouge, unethical agency. Did not serve either myself of the tenant with any degree of professionalism. They should not even be practicing with this conduct and I intend to make them accountable. These sorts of cowboy practices by estate agents need to stop.
Very professional and easy to deal with. We kept second-guessing ourselves and expecting some catch to come up while letting a flat through OJ, but at every turn they proved competent and caring. All the staff are helpful and do their best to solve any issues, and we can't recommend them highly enough.
A massage to landlords
Avoid this agency at all cost! They are bunch of liars! Very clumsy and unprofessional.
We found tenants through this agency and after a while we realised our tenant moved out, and rented out our flat to someone else. They misused our flats, and the agency did absolutely nothing to support us. Not a single help to even help us. when we first rented our property we mentioned to family only. A brother and sister came along, and they only introduced the sister so they could let out our flat. Later, the sister moved out oversease and her brother sublet our flat! All along, they went with without a signle word to us. They even manipulated us with the moving out day, even though we would lose, so they could faster re- market our property without our consent! They are bunch of losers pretending to be professional!
I cannot recommend more this agency. Very high standard service from Paige! Thank you!
If there would be a possibility to put no stars - I WOULD NOT PUT EVEN ONE! The most horrible experience during my tenancy (still have 6 months left, i do regret that we signed 2 years contract). They always change our flat managers, i never know who to contact and barely seen one of them. The Latest one Kirilee is awful - not responding to my emails (maybe 1 of 5) when i try to call to the main office she is always on her lunch, her colleagues promiss - she will reply to your email - and what? nothing. I had mould problem with my carpet flooring, it took them 2 MONTHS to actually take actions and send contractors to our flat. And now - they removed it and I am sleeping in my living room (en suite with a kitchen) for another month now. is it normal? and I am sharing this flat with my friend and this causes problem for him as well, not being able to use living room and kitchen). Very disappointing. We are paying for double bedroom flat, and I don't even have my own corner in my flat!!! I hope at least this message will be heard!!

Carina was involved with selling our house starting from evaluation to completion. We experienced a few issues to say the least along the process (legal issues and mortgage issues for the buyers, not FJL fault) and we cannot thank Carina enough for persisting and seeing the sale through. She went beyond her job and has followed things through even when she was on annual leave.
We selected FJL as one of our neighbours had sold the house through them few years before us and they had highly recommended them and we are so glad we chose them.
Called up and spoke to an woman with a very heavy accent, as she explained she didnt have any propertys that had been advertised online i asked for the website,
I had to ask several times as she was really hard to understand,
And not only was she very rude she put the phone down on me BAD SERVICE
Buying a house is a painful process and when I was contacted by someone from Foxtons after I expressed interest in a property I saw on right-move, I had deep reservations (given some of the negative press I've read about Foxtons). However, Lewis Campbell was an absolute delight to work with. From the beginning of our search he was great. He showed us some great properties (far better than others we were shown by other agents) and when we settled on the place we wanted, he was instrumental in helping us close the deal in a timely manner. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a new home. Thanks Lewis!
They were not forthcoming about maintenance work that was going to be carried out on the building. So now I have scaffolding outside of my windows and have just found out it's going to be there for four months. I do not recommend Foxtons and will never do business with them again
I rented a flat from Alex Neil and they were so helpful and they responded my requests so quickly. I have never experienced something negative with them. Their property portfolio is very wide. I certainly recommend Alex Neil if you are looking for a property.

I've lived in a shared property for 8 years, the last 6 or so have been managed by Alex Neil, so my review is a mixed bag of the occasional OK thing but mostly negative things. A big minus was the agent using cowboy contractors who sometimes didn't turn up at all though I'd taken days off to be at the house to meet them, or used second-hand parts on the boiler. We also had a month of a broken boiler and no heating right in the dead of winter (for which Alex Neil admittedly did purchase electric heaters for us - eventually); some leaks being left for weeks without anyone coming to check on them, other leaks sorted out fast. The gas leak from the stove hob was sorted out very quickly, and the latest contractors have improved in quality of service. A big downside is the communication from Alex Neil which very often comes over as very threatening. I haven't had a very positive experience with these people and have already promised myself that I will never ever live in an Alex Neil-managed property again.
