Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant experience with this agency. While I was viewing an apartment for rent, another interested party was in the office with a different employee, paying a deposit to reserve their priority for the rental. This happened without any formal process. I find this behavior of the agency strange and unacceptable.
After I wrote a comment and complaint to them, the boss promised me that they would inform me about new offers, they do not do it, they do not respond to messages. Embarrassing.... Read more

I rented a flat from these estate agents and honestly I couldn’t have had a worse experience. I moved into a flat that was not looked after and spent the first week deep cleaning, visited by bailiffs and debt collection officers as well as bombarded by letters of legal action due to the previous tenant, who quite honestly had left the flat in one of the worst conditions seen and not pictured correctly on the opening itinerary. I had issues with hearing and water throughout even to the point where the landlord actually attempted taking money off of myself to call for an engineer call out for a boiler fault. Issues were raised through the app provided with these never actually being rectified within the 12 months of tenancy. All rent was paid for on time and without hassle, coming to the end of tenancy the keys were handed back on the agreed date with an email before saying the flat was in good condition. Upon a final inspection the verdict had then changed dramatically and my deposit is being held with attempted charges that are not justified. Would steer clear of this company and use Jackson Grundy next door instead.... Read more

Chevron Brown have managed our property for 8 years. They were recommended to us by a friend who was very pleased with the service that they provided and we have also had an excellent experience using them to look after our house.
They make regular inspections of the house and provide us with clear photographs so we are confident about the condition and know that tenants are taking good care of the property. On one occasion when tenants had damaged the house they supported us well through the process of reclaiming the cost of repairs and returning it to letting condition quickly.

First impressions were very good, professional and very welcoming. The room looked nice when viewing.
When moving in there were a few things I was unhappy about:
Despite the very thorough check reported via the inventory base website it appears many vital things weren't checked or were checked and passed anyway, for example my shower temp gauge was broken for 1 week (cold showers all week), the plug in the sink was meant to be fixed 1 day after I moved in, again this wasnt fixed for a week (the plug was not an issue for me but I was not informed that the work would be re-scheduled). The chest of drawers is broken and unusable, it is very obviously broken so dont understand how they missed it when inspecting the room, this should have been delt with before I moved in. Aside from this the floor was not cleaned, dust and light debris all over.
The kitchen appliances and cupboards were also very dirty, I spent hours cleaning the mould from the washing machine draw and drum, cleaning the fridge and de icing the freezer enough to remove the draws.
My first week was not the best.
However aside from this, I'm happy with the room and the facilities available.
I did send an email asking for the shower to be fixed sooner that 30 days I was initially told, and the issue was then sorted the next day which I was happy about.
Overall not the best start but now that most the problems are out the way I'm fairly confident that my remaining time here will be positive.... Read more

EDIT in response to owners reply: these maintenance issues started before the pandemic and any lockdown occurred. there is no excuse for it. Cleaning was sporadic at best and the internet was hugely unreliable even while working from home (hopefully have since upgraded substantially. It was down numerous weekends.) I was so dissatisfied, I even went to lengths to try inform prospective tenants to look elsewhere.
This Lettings agents seems uninterested in your happiness as a customer. they treat you a statistic, closing out maintenance tickets long before anything gets done. as a result, nothing does get done. we waiting on a new doorbell for 2 months (i moved out afterwards). i would seriously consider using a different place. they just want your business not a customer.

Sadly, like a lot of letting agencies these days, they don't bother to reply to your letting enquiries unless they need you! Rather than say "sorry, it's not available".
Make an enquiry to BUY a property and they'd be on the phone to you in 5 minutes!

To say you even have a system to measure your call answer rate is nonsense. 98% yeah right!
I enquired about a property, I then get an automated email from you wanting to know more details - Name, address, phone number, employment status, current living status, name and phone number of current landlord (sound familiar?) - all provided! Then nothing!!
All online enquiries are "fielded" within 20 mins? Don't know what fielded means. It certainly DOESN'T mean making contact!!!

I find that the team at Chelton Brown are always helpful and friendly. They don't mark-up 3rd party prices for safety certificates (for example). They are reasonably priced for a landlord that prefers to have management. As a landlord I would VERY STRONGLY advise others to look elsewhere. I endured a long catalogue of very inefficient service from Chelton Brown. Despite this, I did not leave a review, preferring simply to not instruct them again. However, I have been shocked to discover that 12 months ago they failed to pay a tenant's deposit into my DPS account as they had assured me they would. This was despite my emailing them with a reminder about it at the beginning of the tenancy! I believe they also failed to notify the tenant about where the deposit was protected. Unsurprisingly in the circumstances, for once they were keen to want to resolve this with both the tenant and myself. Needless to say, I will definitely not be instructing them again. If it were possible to give them a negative star rating I would choose that option.... Read more

I'm affraid I have to rate them poorly. We live near our Landlords and most of the time deal directly as response is 99% faster.
I emailed Chelton Brown maybe 2/3 months back regarding a few small issues and still have not got a response from them. We asked about being able to install internet in the property. We have ad no reply and have to connect to our mobile phone internet to be able to access internet on our laptops. It's mad! who doesn't have internet in their homes in 2019?! We have a broken window which have been told won't get fixed until Xmas. All this dealing directly myself with contactors Owner has chosen according to Chelton. Why don't they have a bunch of contractors they can rely on? If that window is hit again by a bird or something...that's it. Cold main bedroom until Xmas... Read more

I have been with Chelton Brown in the last 5 years. They were always helpful and well mannered. It is never black or white so do not expect some fairy tale as they have to consider your and also the landlord's interest. They were fair all times. I would like to highlight Nadine and Therese, they work a lot and deal with a great amount of duties but they perform very professionally. Thank you Nadine and Therese! It was a pleasure to deal with Edward as well. Many issues people associate with Agents is coming from the landlord but we tend to blame the messengers.
