They failed to update me regarding my viewing appointment, I wasted hours of travel for nothing. I had an appointment, and the property was let agreed, they hadn't informed or canceled my appointment, left me confused, had to wait for them to open office, and I myself had to cross check with them if the viewing is still happening or not, and it was NOT, and they did NOT update me on this. Wasted money on train and travel. -1

Chelton Brown was the 2nd agent I had approached with regards to renting my property. From the onset the communication and information shared was a better service and I felt comfortable in handing over my property. This is the first time I have experienced renting out a property and no question I asked was treated as being daft.
I would recommend this agent For anyone looking to rent out their property. They offer different levels and I opted for the fully managed and so far this has been the best option for myself.

If I could give less than 1% rating to this people who stays inside their Northampton office I can happily give that they are too rude about the direct walk-ins when you start to say something which they don't like it they immediately say no and they don't literally say nothing. Pls change staff otherwise change their behaviour towards customers......

I bought a property and the paperwork is not in order. The solicitors I used were recommended by them. Now, I am incurring financial losses because of them. I intend to take them and their solicitors through civil court claim. I do not put names here but they have stopped responded to emails and phone calls. I would suggest independent landlords and property buyers to be careful with them.

I chose Chelton Brown to manage my portfolio based on personal recommendation and my own research. I had a short-list of two agents in the town that I felt stood out as being serious about the lettings business. So many estate agents seem to see lettings as easy money, but are not dedicated to a service model as distinct from the large one-off commission on property sales.
Before committing I met with the Managing Director and key people that would support me, my properties, and of course my tenants.

my experience dealing with chelton brown has been nothing short of comfort and confident, starting with with their web site and prompt alert when there is a property available on the market. the call centre crew were amazing and patient to arrange a viewing to fit my availability. I’ve been searching for properties throughout Rightmove, I have also registered myself in many local Agencies. Chelton Brown was the one who was outstanding with they customer support. I was a first time buyer, Chris Wilson and George Marshal was showing me the property and both was really nice and having so much patience with all the questions I have asked . And I have to admit I was quiet inpatient and was calling them for an update all the time .

First of all, using Chris at Chelton Brown was the best decision we made with regards to our house sale!
At first i was a little sceptical as he was so full of confidence and it all seemed a little too good to be true however now we are at the end of the sale I can honestly say he has every right to be this confident as he came through on every single promise!
The entire sale took around 8 months as the agent the sellers were using for our onward purchase were the complete opposite to Chris (frankly incompetent) but together Chris and his sale progressor Georgia didn't let this ruin things, I was getting updates from these guys about the top chain that the sellers agent wasn't even getting for me.
Due to the time it was taking our buyer began to have second thoughts, I mean why wouldn't she, she was a first time buyer, paid full asking price and had every right to when things weren't moving, but Chris was able to keep it all together for us, now here's the bit I think I was most impressed with. At around 6 months in I was so worried about losing the buyer I called chris and said " we need to keep this together and I'm so desperate to see this through I'm prepared to take up to 5k less if she will stick with the sale" Chris took this onboard and didn't drop a penny! That to me shows he truly cared and didn't just take the easy option as others would have,
I could carry on writing and probably fill a book on how these guys deserve your business and how you can truly trust them. But in short, if they say something is getting done they mean it, communication and being kept updated are the biggest things in a house sale and I got everything I needed. They are not the biggest agent in town but they are the most caring I have ever encountered, thank you both very much again, you both went more extra miles then you should have had to and I will always appreciate your service.

Terrible letting agents. We was left with no gas or electric day we moved in and there agent came out to say there's nothing she could do as it was almost five and time for her to go home. Also good luck trying to get your deposit back as they are so finiky and insist on using only people they chose to do anything then charge you so beware this was just 2 of many issues with them

I was looking to move to Northampton for a new job and found my ideal apartment through Chelton Brown. Booked a viewing and then sent in my application with all my personal details. Firstly, they cancelled my viewing with about an hours notice (when I had to travel a distance for it) due to not having keys (what letting agent doesn't have keys?!) - rescheduled for later in the week. Then, they rescheduled again for the same reason. So, I then had to make a special journey for it the following week. If the apartment wasn't worth it I wouldn't have bothered, but it was so lovely I wanted to give them a chance.
Viewed the property and said I was interested immediately. Went to their office straight after to say I would like the apartment, the admin person talked me through the process and then the other person I had been dealing with handed her my application, saying 'it's a pretty perfect application'. Told me they'd be in touch the following day to sort out the paperwork.
She called me the following day, first confirming my employment and various other details. Then, at the end of the conversation, she said 'unfortunately the landlord will not accept a pet' (I had explicitly stated in my application right from the start that I had a well behaved house cat). Why wait for the end of the call to tell me that?
My mum, who had been assisting me through the whole process and had been giving second opinions on things for me called them back as I had to work to ask what the problem was. Apparently the landlord wouldn't accept a pet due to bad experiences previously, my mum then counter offered this with that we could offer a higher deposit, pay for an deep end of tenancy clean, provide a pet reference from my previous landlord, given the rest of my application was fine... so they then called the landlord again. Got back to me again and said that the reason now was that the building would not accept pets (which was a lie, as there are AirBnBs in the building which explicitly accept pets!). They then offered for us to speak to the lettings manager who also tried to offer up excuses of poor service for them being off work.
They were just making up excuses at this point: the whole experience was a shambles, extremely messy/unprofessional with no real process or protocols in place, and quite frankly, upsetting, as I was so keen to move into the apartment. Others may have had a different experience, but I received 5* service from one of their rival agencies a few weeks later.

My initial 5 star review went down to 2 over the 4.5 years I was renting a Chelton Brown property. My main concerns were similar to other people's, mainly related to money and disrespect.
1. Bicycles were stolen from us on two occasions (and on countless occasions from our neighbours) due to lack of security (wrecky door lock and ridiculously simple door code which did not get changed even after several thefts). This was addressed by CB by investing into a new dummy camera and placing a sign that the agency will not take any responsibility.
2. Feeling exploited by the agency. We found out that the exact same flat above us was advertised for £80 less than we had been paying for a long time. We requested to change flats, which was denied. They agreed to a £45 decrease after we complained.
3. Issues when moving out. Never throughout our tenancy did we have a problem raised by CB regarding the cleanliness of the flat. We were also told that we do not have to clean the carpet professionally. Despite of me having cleaned the flat for over 13 (!) hours, CB found issues with everything, after they went through the flat with a microscope. We got a lengthy report justifying the need for us to pay for professional cleaning, and there was definitely no mention of fair wear and tear, which you'd expect after 4.5 years spent somewhere. Some things raised in the report were simply ridiculous and unjustified.
4. In their communication, CB were often rude and disrespectful, e.g. during the two money-related issues mentioned above, they told us it was a (quote) 'gesture of goodwill' that they reduced costs after we listed our arguments.
The only reason I gave 2 and not 1 star is the odd kind employees, who went out of their way to help us over the weekends when the fire alarm was going off for days, CB wasn't open and obviously no emergency contact was available. This happened on at least 3 occasions whilst we were living there.

I’d like to share the details so anyone looking to sell their property can get an idea of the superb service that is available at Chelton Brown…
Vickie conducted our valuation, and from the onset we were really impressed; she was very well prepared and had all the area details and statistics etc specifically researched and printed out for us- - he came across as deeply knowledgeable, knew the market inside out.
The marketing price she proposed was accurate and totally logical based on a lot of data that she presented, moreover, she had a proper strategy for marketing.
The marketing materials, photos, videos and 360 tours were produced to an extremely high standard – which attracted quite a lot of enquiries.
James and Chris were doing the viewings and the negotiation, they were both very proactive, guided us through the process and gave detailed feedback after every viewing.
Their proactive approach meant we found a buyer within a few days of advertising.
The price agreed was exactly what we had hoped for and was totally fair as both us and the buyers were happy with – again this comes down to Vickie’s spot on accurate valuation!
The sales progression part is always quite complex and selling an apartment is a bit more complicated than selling a house as there is more paperwork and a lot of information is required from the block management company, which can cause delays… This is where we were lucky to have a company like Chelton Brown dealing with the process.
I cannot remember the number of times a member of the team went out of their way to get things sorted for us during this time Gemma, Lynne, Vickie.
Vickie even created a special check list for us, not only to assist us with the sale but also to make sure our purchase goes smoothly (even though the property we were buying was in another town, through another agent – which just goes to show that they genuinely care).
Honestly, if you are selling your home, do yourself a favour and go with Chelton Brown! They are absolutely brilliant.

I will firstly give this company their dues. Whenever there was a problem, they were prompt in fixing it. However, that is as far as my praise goes.
I will not identify myself, but feel the people have a right to know how we were treated.
Firstly, we had an issue with mold in the house. It was affecting us massively. Seemed in the end the only way to fix it was for us to move out for 2 weeks while they did this. At first we could not do this. so they issued us a section 21!
Finally we could, and went ahead and booked a caravan we could ill afford. We asked to at least be excused the rent for those two weeks, which they agreed to.
JUST before we were due to leave they found a contactor who could do the work while we were there. They then tried to weedle out of our arrangement. Wrecked my holiday too dealing with their constant winging while we were away.
Wind the clock back, when we moved in there was a fridge freezer and washing machine, on its last legs. We asked if it could be removed and trashed. They agreed. We replaced with our own resources. nothing more was said after that until we moved out.
Wind forward the clock, we were offered another place (not CB). We had to accept on the spot. So i tried to stagger a month between moving out to moving in to allow time to properly clean the house. When they cottoned on, they put pressure on us to just hand in the keys early, despite us not being happy with the state of the property.
when it came to our deposit, nothing but complaints. Yes, we mentioned the house needed attention, thats why we tried to give a months notice. give us more time to move our stuff and get the house properly cleaned.
But no, they moaned about rudeimentary mess tbh. And of course, where is our fridge freezer and washing machine?
Oh you mean those on their last legs? Suddenly they raised this. Throwing everything possible at us to avoid paying back our deposit.
Theives at best.
Sorry, needed to be said.
As for the frauline who inspects the property every THREE months! To say i found her rude is an understatement. Glad to be out.

Chelton brown honestly needs to look inward before its too late. Its either the culture that exists is just off or the workers are giving this company a bad name. Whichever way, i would have to agree with the overwhelming evidence on here that shows they have a really bad reputation. The fees are high and they would do everything humanly possible to ensure you do not get your deposit back.
Whats more- i was pushed out in the middle of covid 19 pandemic -no rules or regulations for the tenant was maintained by them and they seem to be the only agent i know who did this- everyone was shocked about the treatment. I kept getting calls from one monica badging me to move out.
The service at chelton brown is honestly appalling! Stayed physically in the room for a month and 2wks and the report shows i left it in tip top position and between the workers there- i have been getting emails that my balance of almost £700 will be used to clean the room- A Joke!!!
Approach chelton brown at your own peril! Run away from them!

Rented a flat with them. They were good with some of the home services however had some bitter experiences like fire alarm going off on Friday night continuing until Monday, no emergency contacts available to tackle the problem. Main entrance security door didn't work throughout 1.5 years of stay even after complaints. Another major bad experience whilst vacating the flat, they were very *greedy* and had to pay fair bit of money out of my deposit for cleaning (like water stains in sink and little dust on the lamp). I thought that was bit unprofessional. They increased my rent on contract renewals even though no facilities added to the flat, and as soon as I vacated the same was put on the market at £55 less per month.

I've moved out and after a week they sent the report which is perfect and still waiting on the deposit... but they don't care about you if u need the money or not. U can contact them, write to them and always an excuse.. It's bagging for your own money to be paid back. Unbelievable. I had a feeling about this agency prior renting and I didn't listen to my intuition and now I do realise is the worst agency out there. Even if u have a problem they don't bother checking. So this was my experience with them. It's up to you if you want to give it a go. -5 * avoid try something else.

I booked a viewing with this “agency” like two weeks ago and Dan was the agent who done the viewing. Everything was ok, until I started asking questions. My first question was if the property will have some paint before moving in, at that time his face start changing from a nice guy to someone who have no time for us, reason I asked for is because the property we viewed 2 bedroom bungalow in Duston inside kitchen was screaming for painting, carpets are as grandma had and the only storage this property have, doors are almost not existing, for all this Dan said: “property is renting as it is”. Ok I said and follow to this I dared to ask if the price can be dropped with £25, at this moment Dan said that will bring this to the landlord and will let me know.
Guess what, property still on the market and Dan still never come back to me.
Please judge yourself if this “agency” deserve your money and your trust.

Let us down hundred times .
Few examples out of hundred :
1.We have agreed we take a flat . Contract paper work payment etc.
next day they called us ' The landlord change his mind , don't want to let out his flat ' The woman on the phone added It's happened already once with him ... WE HAD TO GO TO A HOTEL UNTIL WE FOUND ANOTHER RENT ...
They are charging fees for everything , big amount of money .
- Administration fee 220
- Tenancy renew fee around 75
- Even for a reference of the tenancy they wanted to charge !
2. Once leaking pipe in the flat we lost around 10 litre water / minute . I've called them , they said they will send someone MONDAY ... It happened on FRIDAY ... I said what the heck is this ? we are the customers here and you always let us down .... The woman said ... the flat's owner is the customer not us ... I laughed at her ... and i fixed the pipe temporary.
3. They asked as when we moved in do we want the wall repainted as it was in patch painted we said yes . Took 4 phone calls to remind them and one month when they finally sent someone, who used different colour then the rest of the flat...
4. We told them we don't want to renew our contract we will move out ...
They were be like: 'Mission accepted - we gonna arrange as much viewing as we can'. Until now they tried to bring 3-4 visitors a week .
Last time they tried to bring visitors on Friday and Saturday as well ( Saturday in the morning 9 30 ) I told them Friday is okay but Saturday not ! Guess who woke me up in the morning ? Exactly ... The Chelton Brown with the visitors ... I told them they can't come in I asked them to not come ... and I closed the door.
I could continue the stories ... I have loads of .... but if the text is too long no one will read it .

So today the 28/11/18 i should be getting the keys to a 2 bedroom house in spratton, iv paid my deposit all the relevemt checks have been completed and the wifes been rushing around getting everything packed in boxes,removal companys all booked for today and best of all i have my own tennant moving into my flat to rent it of me as my 16 month old boy needs his own room hense the reason we are moving.
To then get a phone call from kate at chelton and brown to say shes really sorry to tell me that the land lord has pulled out because he has found someone who can pay £50 extra a month is absolute joke!!!
Iv had to pay the removal company we hired off for there troubles we have spent over 800 pound on new funiture not to mention the man that who was moving into my place who could now pottentialy be homeless because hes old landlord has found someone else.
My partner has been in tears and we are both very futrstrated, id AVOID this company at all cost,even when i was viewing this property i was told to hurry up becase he had another viewing in 20minutes!
I always had to phone them they never phoned me even tell me my credit check had passed and we have a moving in date.
There are much more proffesional and better companys in northampton do not waste your time with these clowns.....

Booked an appointment to see a flat but it was let a day before and they didnt bother notify us about it. Wasted a drive and time waiting for anyone to show up.

We have just rented our flat with Chelton Brown! The flat is in great condition and it was a really easy and smooth process. We had one small issue when moving in but it was handled professionally and quickly so that we could get settled into our new home as soon as possible, couldn't have asked for more helpful or friendly staff. Worst letting agents in Northampton! If there are problems, staff do not answer their phones (I have been asking to check on and fix an issue, which had not been sorted on time, so assume they recognised my number and kept ignoring my messages). Also trick and pressure you into paying the deposit as quick as possible. All sweet and welcoming before you hand them your deposit money and sign the contract, then the hell starts. Avoid if you can

Time wasters, poor communication and ridiculous fees. I was desperate to move into a flat but heard nothing regarding the progress of the application after I had agreed I would take the flat. Chased them for a whole 2 weeks only for them to tell me that the property was let to somebody else after continuously being told bogus stories.

During our rental of 20 months thie house had a leak in one of the bedrooms, which the cowboys they sent tried to seal the roof with a variety of innovative repairs.
During our rental the floors on upper floor all needed replacement as the floor boards were cracking which resulted in holes in the floors. The "tradesmen" had a very neat trick to store the old broken parts of the floor in the void between the floors, as the waste bin was far away outside.
At the start of our rental we were not given keys to tye garage (which was fully locked) and also nobody cared to help as they already took the money.
Nearing the end of our tenancy we were served a notice "to hand" by an employee who posted it through the letter box and ran for their life to avoid confrontation.
At the end of the tenancy we were even charged for the small bits of grass between patio slabs (which I later noticed were there at the start of the tenancy, by accident as they have listed the house for rent again, using photos from 2 years ago).
We will be reporting this to the trading standards and hope others will follow.
This company exclusively after your money and nothing else. They will try and shave you to the best of their ability.

Chelton Brown must think money grows on trees!!! They wanted to charge me £36.00 for telling a referencing company that YES!! I did rent a house from them. YES!! I did pay my rent and NO!! I did not damage the house.
it is absolutely disgusting for them to think they can rob money from people when they like!!!
I hope no one will use their horrible service in Northampton!!!

I'm so grateful to Katie Buswell for recently helping me secure a rental property, due to my personal circumstances she was very sympathetic but professional at the same time. Katie and other members of the team were in constant contact with me via phone, out of all the estate agents in town they were the only one who helped me and didn't fob me off. A lot of effort from the team and myself went into securing a rental property, but I understand Chelton Brown have rules and regulations which have to be abided by.

Make sure you are ready to argue for the deposit you have paid, they look for any little bit of dust to make an excuse to get cleaners in. They are rude and when they said we have left something in the flat we asked if we could come collect the remaining pieces they then said you are not insured, when we explained we were still insured on the property and could prove this. And when asked if they would meet us there to get a brush and a bin they started stuttering and then changed the subject.
They also give no notice where viewings are concerend and when we asked for 24hours notice, they just simply ignored it.

I would like to share my 7 years experience with Chelton Brown. I've been living on same address for 6-7 years and honestly i can say how this agency is operating. Property visits every 3 months - really? after living in same flat for so long, no privacy at all with them, it feels like living with parents under constant control. After every visit they used to leave a notes like , dirty dishes in the sink or that the flat is cluttered or crummies on the carpet etc. I will wash my dishes when i got time to do that!!! Seriously privacy breach and bs. Once they even carried out the property visit while my partner was sleeping in the property after work so he almost kicked her ass because he thought that some burglar got into the flat - just ridiculous. Since then we requested many times to be present by every future visit but obviously that had been ignored and they came whenever they wanted. Next ...every 6 months there is a 60£ (now 75£) renewal 'admin fee' for them to print out and post new contract it's just another rip off(agency is just 2 mins away). There is constant rent increase forcing you to take it or you can just leave!!! Careless money grabbers!! And they give you only 14 days to make the decision whether you want to stay or vacate the property. Same property issues appearing in the flat all the time , fixed but only temporarily . Of course when rent is being increased we are being bombarded with emails from them but when we report issues with flat they weren't so prompt to sort it out and we had to contact them few times for them to take some action. Most annoying thing is when agency is giving keys from property basically to anyone who request them without letting us know , electrician, repairs, visits etc - like we can trust everyone these days - we even requested that nobody come to the flat unless we are present. Constant issues with bins not being collected, we've been told to contact council, that's the most common answer on everything. What for they taking money then? Few months ago an electrician was sent to our flat to check all sockets, he must had been an expert because he messed up all sockets and damaged few of them, missing screws, flashing lights after his checks and on the top of that he started asking me questions about the nice stuff that i have at my home and how expensive is it, really?? i almost kicked him out, they give the keys to any moron without knowing whether that is someone reliable or genuine ALL WRONG. Leak from the roof, damp ceiling after every rain is okay according to them and condensation on windows in every room is our fault after all, even we purchased on our own expenses powerful Dehumidifier and flat is constantly ventilated. Before we took this flat were not aware about not allocated parking plus we did not know that residential car park cost 350£ a year per car , yes real bargain! Never offered any discount when fixing things took ages to do. Recently we received an email about rent increase again (last increase was this September, from 550£ to 585£) and now from feb 2017 again from 585£ to 650£ greedy agency and landlord!!!!!100£ more within 7 months !!! just ridiculous.I'm not even sure if that is legal! Obviously this agency care about money and nothing else, they don't appreciate good tenants . I bet that they don't even bother to explain to new landlord that rapid rent increase will force move away long term tenants. Try to avoid if you can.

MONEY GRABBERS. LIARS. I have unfortunately been bullied out of a property. Chelton Brown are the most useless letting agents on the planet. Their staff (both Daventry and Northampton) are liars and clearly only care about getting as much money as possible out of you. Making up fees as they go along. Overcharging and then denying. Issuing abondonment notices, but saying 'we thought you were in'. Not a clue. Will never use or recommend to anyone EVER again. And be aware that they clearly use cleaners that clean with gold dusters, as a quote to remove some dust from an empty property for over £200 is quite hilarious. (And that's a 1 bed annex) Pathetic.

Chelton Brown's process of applying for a potential property is time consuming and frustrating. I was asked to fill in a whole application and prove my ID etc and bring it in person to their offices. I then lost out on this property as the landlord chose a more suitable tenant for his needs. Any other agent I've dealt with take basic information on the phone and puts this to the landlord which saves everyone time. The successful tenant then goes ahead and fills in the full application.
Once I was in a CB property, I found their fees to be high and unfortunately the service does not reflect this. Communication is poor. I was never told my contract was a long term let after the first year by which point it was too late and I either had to move house again (impractical and expensive) or sign for a whole 12 months and pay £300 to leave my contract early within those 12 months. Difficult to get a reliable answer from anyone on the phone and trying to speak to a particular member of staff virtually impossible as they didn't call back. Some of the staff are verging on rude, particularly one lady I had the misfortune of having to deal with. £36 for a reference request is ridiculous and despite being told that many other agents charge the same, some further research tells me this is not the case at all. I was not surprised that I had issues getting back my full deposit but decided to 'agree to disagree' to cut my losses and be done with them.
If I was a landlord I wouldn't even consider CB as an agent... Their Saturday staff who showed potential new tenants around were clueless and I often ended up stepping in to give the right information! I would want a much higher quality service for the money paid. Steer clear if you can and save yourself a whole load of money and hassle.

There are a huge number of letting agents in Northampton and over the past week I have probably dealt with the majority of them either on the phone or in person. I have to say though, that Chelton Brown were a million miles ahead in terms of service and approachability. Whilst most of the other agents showed mild disinterest at best and downright unhelpfulness at worse, Chelton Brown were great from the off. Ellie is sunny and personable, thinks outside the box, puts herself out and goes out of her way to really understand your criteria as well as thinking ahead of properties coming onto their books which might be suitable. Noella, who painstakingly showed us a number of properties is smiling and cheerful and even gave my daughter, who is moving to Northampton and roughly the same age, some really helpful tips about life in Northampton. Sadly, the flat we eventually settled on wasn't on Chelton Brown's books but I would have no hesitation in going back to them again.

We planning to move the city and we found a property and sent a letter to the agency to arrange a viewing and we also introduced ourselves including our 2 years old little daughter as well. (it was a well sized house with reasonable price regarding it's place as it was in the middle off nowhere. It's just a perfect with kids)
Then we done the viewing accompanied with our little one. We loved the place. It has just a god sized everything for us. Not too big, not too small.
Then we went to the office to get the papers to do the booking. Our little girl was in our company all the time. She was a little bit tired so there is no way no one noticed her. We spoken at least 3 person in the office and asked about that property. Then we asked the paperwork and I let them know I will bring it back at the first working day.
Ten the first workday I went back to the office with all the papers done (this time alone) when the lady is just told me that sorry but the Landlord do not accept kids in his property... wow.
So...
They offered us another property which cost almost two times more and have no garden at all... ehm thanks.
I am so upset now. You technically wasted our time and money to do a viewing, work on a shitload of paperwork and then back again to the office just to get cancel it at the finishing stage with something discriminating like we would like to rent a family house with a kids... Is this really a deal in this business?

Recently looked to rent property in Northampton. Have interacted with all the letting agents around and this agent is by far the worst in terms of communication and quality of service. Shockingly bad.
Interactions with this company have been incredibly unenthusiastic from the very beginning. I felt actively disliked for even enquiring about their properties, which I find utterly baffling, it almost felt as if they didn't even want people to let their properties. The lady over the phone was unhelpful and didn't even seem to know about the properties advertised online. When asked for ideas of what properties they had that might be fitting with my needs, she basically told me to search the internet, which is well... amazingly useless.
Arranged a viewing (with great difficulty and against my better judgement), drove a half hour and got there 45 minutes early. I called up to check whether they could get there any earlier. Was then told that they could not but to wait for them, which is fair as I was early. However a different agent then called 10 minutes before the viewing to cancel stating that the property had been taken. This had not been mentioned in the previous phone call. The utter lack of consideration for my time was pretty insulting and awful. I've never been treated this way by a letting agent in my 8+ year renting.
I ended up actively avoiding interacting with this company as it was basically a waste of my time to even attempt to find out what their properties could offer. Its a pointless exercise and if you see a property with their name next to it, you may as well pretend that property doesn't exist. You will be wasting your time otherwise.

The staff explained the whole process clearly, answered questions and queries quickly and even when things were a little rocky (not their fault) they managed to keep the sale on track.

Don't get carried away with the properties they have - it is not worth the stress.
Be prepared to have to fight tooth and nail for your deposit (even if you get the place cleaned professionally)
Go to Belvoir or William H Brown instead they actually care about their customers.

- No instruction or guidance on heating system operation - figure out yourself - boiler marked do not use - will it explode or maybe not?
Front end customer service was very good, just seems like once you sign the papers they no longer care.

Terrible service. They really don't care about any problems you might have. I spent most of my time chasing them with issues. All the staff i spoke with just seemed like they didn't care about their jobs or the tenants they are providing a service too. Me and my girlfriend went through so much stress with Chelton Brown we were very happy to see the back of them. They took a stupid amount of money from our deposit for a cleaning company i couldn't find any evidence of existing. Funny how a member of staff has given it 5 stars to bump up the google rating. Worst shower of idiots on the planet!

I had a viewing appointment for a flat which I intended to rent. Agency guy who showed the flat told that the office was closed at that time already and that I was suppose to call them next day before lunch in order to confirm my interest. He said that details of all people interested in renting this flat are going to be forwarded to landlord and he would make a choice.
I called at 10am next morning to say that I would like to rent the flat. However, to my surprise I was told that it was already taken. I told that their colleague told me to call before lunch... Office lady said that they will contact the landlord and call me back. After few hours of waiting I called the office again. This time another agency employee answered and I was told that the flat was already taken earlier as the payment was made earlier this morning. She rudely highlighted that they would not have waited till lunch anyway.
So I wasn’t called back, no one apologised. I was told lies by two different agency employees, the one who said true was rude. Not to mention that the flat advert pictures weren’t of the actual flat and I was handed a paper with higher renting price then advertised online. Now I definitely know that this agency should be avoided.

The only way Chelton Brown could achieve a 5 star review is if they held someone at gun point, clearly this has taken place as they have had a couple of them (unless it was employees/the owners). There are several staff that are competent, polite & friendly but the one or two that are rude and have somewhere between little, and no manners, make this company almost unbearable to deal with. The incompetency of one member of staff almost left us without a home, this has continued throughout our tenancy with workmen being booked and then not showing up, or being sent to the wrong address or workmen being sent to do a job and making the situation even worse than before. I would definitely not recommend this lettings company.
