Always respond to emails quickly and are very helpful. Once I got locked out when their store was shut, but after emailing Daniel he was round at the store on his afternoon off within the hour to give me the spare key. They also left a card welcoming us when we first moved in. So whether it's the big or little things Daniel James tend to do it all very well.... Read more

Would not recommend: Had a viewing booked with Daniel James for a rental property. When the viewing was booked (in advance) I explicitly asked if the property was suitable for couples and was told yes. The viewing was confirmed via SMS, and all was good to go. A few days before I was called and asked if I could postpone the viewing by 15 minutes due to a 'double booking'. Not a problem these things happen, and so I agreed. After travelling to London from Northampton for the viewing, I was again called 1.5 hours before and asked to postpone the viewing by another 30 minutes, this time with no explanation. As I was already in the area and on a tight schedule I said no, and was told that it 'wasn't a problem'. 1 hour before the viewing, another phone call. This time it was an apology. The property isn't suitable for couples. I've only just found this out on the lease. I'm really sorry. I could understand if I'd been told that someone else has already put a deposit down for it, or if the landlord had rented it without informing the letting agent, but for this to be the reason the booking was cancelled has annoyed me massively. Not only have I had my time and money for travel expenses wasted, but this was something that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. It was the first question I asked upon enquiring about the property, and again confirmed on the phone after the first amendment to the viewing time. I wont name and shame the agent who was dealing with my viewing as she's new, however this shows a serious lack of management, training or just general laziness when it comes to handling properties and viewings. Like I said, this shouldn't have happened, and could have been easily avoided had the lease been checked upon my initial enquiry. I would be concerned with what else is missed if something this basic slipped through the gaps. Overall I wouldn't recommend using Danuel James, or if you do make sure you get them to double check everything before booking a viewing. Everything else about them seemed great (except for time management/organisation of property viewings), however a mistake this basic is pretty inexcusable in my book, particularly if it costs the client time and/or money!... EDIT: As previous reviewers have pointed out, if you see my glowing review (I've left it below for your perusal) from moving in with Daniel James as agents, once in the property, the problems started to mount! Check-in inventory done with us already moved in, absolutely disgusting lack of communication once they take your money. Outrageous billing at the end of our tenancy. "Wolves in sheep skin" is the best way to describe this embarrassment of an organisation. (The below was left at the very start of my tenancy... I regret doing this so quickly now!) Can’t recommend DanielJames enough! Probably the best experience i’ve Had with an agency. We had to move at the last minute and find a home to rent that is pet friendly. Within six days of the viewing we had a set of keys to the property we wanted the most. Daniel and Joanne were very helpful.... Read more

2 mice seen in the kitchen and damp walls in both bedrooms (which later turned into mould). This was reported on Sep 2018. Daniel discovered a faulty drain pipe and tiles which were the reason behind the damp walls (rain had been pouring towards the building, rather than away from). Endless attempts to solve this, the first visit wasn't arranged until 5 months later. By then the mould had spread badly and the inside walls were affected on both sides. The pest control came after 5 months for all the affected flats run by DJ estate agents, as we were not the only ones who had complained. Followed by ignored emails, calls and texts led to us (2 tenants) moving out in June 2019. The walls were never properly fixed, just painted over with white colour. We threatened with legal action, non-paid rent etc but we had enough after 9 months and a visit to the A&E because my flatmate got Pleurisy. Never been treated this unprofessionally by an estate agent before.... Read more

As a tenant of a property trusted in the hands of Daniel James Estate Agents, we experienced nothing but problems, setbacks and shady behaviour. This is surplus to the fact their communication could be described as casual at best; the fact a director of the business had an out of office reply on their email saying they would be back in January 2019 in response to an email in August 2019 just shows the benchmark of professionalism to which they adhere. Performing inventory checks 1 month after moving in set the tone for the what we were to endure. This was followed up by them providing a gas certification person keys to the premises to let themselves in - whilst we were living in the home made us feel beyond uncomfortable. It was just non-stop. When notifying we were not renewing the tenancy, it took 3 months to receive funds back, with rediculous amounts deducted for cleaning and rubbish removal... It's shady, deceitful and morally abhorrent. Landlords and tenants beware!... Read more

Borderline criminal - they have lied with agreements and tenancies. Failed to give good hand overs when leaving. Knowingly handed my personal details over to 3rd party when i signed my contract so i was text and emailed lots of internet offers for new tenants. This company is a dinosaur that will go extinct!... Bad experience, Daniel tried to cheat us on deposit. Take on process was okay, everything after not so great... Any communication or sorting anything about the property was very slow we were constantly ignored - most issues with the flat were never sorted. In the end of the tenancy contract Daniel James tried to scam us on our whole deposit - we won every penny by Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS), which took sometime and cost us some nerves. Be careful!... Read more

DJ were very helpful in the initial stages and up until completion. After we moved in, the level of service dropped dramatically. No reply to several emails, if I got a reply it would be 3-7 days after. I'm still waiting for a reply for an email I sent 6 weeks ago, which I've chased repeatedly. I appreciate that any house issues are between us and landlord, but I still believe the letting agent has a responsibility to assist when asked. Great service beforehand, don't expect any after you've moved in. **EDIT** In Daniel's response, he has knowingly lied. I sent him and his colleague an email on the 20th Aug, to which they replied a month later after I'd written this review and replied to an email they sent about something renewing our lease. Daniel knows this, and has decided to try and save face, rather being honest. Use this company with caution.... Read more

This is a very horrible place. I went there for a quote and i was deeply shocked in how these sharks operated. It's something out of 80s boiler room movies. So dodgy.. so scummy and so cheap.. avoid them at all costs.. I would rather sleep under a bridge then deal with them. This was my experience and i hope.. deeply.. that others had a different experience. I spoke to one of my friends about them and he told me that he took them to Tenancy Deposit Scheme and he won against these pirates.... Read more

Wanted to view a property very late, they accommodated that. We liked the property, made an offer the same day and it was all approved in under 12 hours. The referencing etc, was also very easy and it was flawless. Daniel James is an agency that I highly recommend!... Read more

They gladly accepted £600 from us and were were assured by a employee of Daniel White that our money would be returned if, for whatever reason we didn't secure the flat. Unfortunately this was a lie, and the employee left the company the following day. Not clear if he was fired or not. Our offer for the flat was refused even though we had enough money to pay upfront for the first three months. We were then told by Daniel James that he was keeping our deposit for administrative costs, this was apparently the price he charges for very poor communication throughout the whole process. In total this was around two and a half weeks. If i can give amy advice, go to a more reputable company.... Read more
