We had our house valued by Charles because we wanted to buy ourselves out of the Help to Buy scheme. It was valued at £415,000.
Our neighbour's house, which is exactly the same, has just gone on the market for £395,000. I'm not sure why our house was valued at £20,000 more than the neighbour's; it's the same house but 10ft to the left.
I mentioned at the time that it seemed like an overvaluation. We obviously have to pay 20% of the valuation to repay the Help to Buy, so we were disappointed and still think £415,000 is a high valuation for our property compared to others on our estate.
