We rented a flat with Dinglis Management Ltd (DML) in July 2014. Six weeks after the beginning of our tenancy we received a call from Andreas Dinglis (AD) to make us sign a new agreement. The reason he gave was that the management company had stopped managing the properties, done since that moment by DinglisProperties Limited (DPL). We were naïve enough to sign it. Six days after the visit to the office we start receiving emails from DML, communicating that the Dinglis marriage was getting divorced and there was a High Court Injuction granted against AD that prevents him collecting the rent or managing the properties. We received several letter from DML’s solicitors and no legal documents from AD, so after being advised by the Council’s Housing Advice we keep paying the rent to DML, who still held our deposit.
The following months are a complete nightmare, receiving new communications from AD, threats of eviction (Section 8 due to rent arrears), and more letters from DML asking us to ignore AD communications. We’re tied to the flat by contract, so we can’t leave it without losing our deposit.
In November, one AD’s employee tries to open the door of our house, with us inside. We open, and he threatens us to go to the police if we think that his behaviour is incorrect. That was the way of telling us that AD was effectively our new landlord. DML tells us some days later and confirms that we should go to AD’s office to sign a new agreement with him. The day we go to his office he tells us that he doesn’t want us as tenants, because we owe him several months. He had recognized in a letter that he couldn’t collect the rent or managing the properties until 7th November, when he won the process, but anyway, he tells us that we can keep living in the flat if we go to DML and demand the months we owe him to them (!!).
Our original contract was finishing (the second contract was invalid, due to the injuction) so we leave our house ASAP. At least we have recovered our deposit from DML without problems.
I think each person can draw his own conclusions from this review, I prefer not to give my opinion about this “company”. What I can say is they made me live one of the worst periods of my life, and we never stopped paying the rent.... Read more
