They’re horrible after end of tenancy. They ask hell lot of charges for cleaning. It looks like harassment in the name of cleaning. Their cleaners quote different amount before end of tenancy but after your tenancy will end this gets inflated to exorbitant amount. Please avoid them . You’ll get email from Louis after end of tenancy and would never come back with clear communications.

Absolutely awful company. By far the worst letting agency on the market. The owner must be clueless or downright greedy as they steal people's deposits. So many others say the same thing, and they are literally the reason letting agencies get a bad rep. We left our apartment in immaculate condition, better than when we received it, which we have photo and video evidence of, yet they still deduct money from the deposit, so there is literally no point in cleaning your apartment when you leave as they will still deduct money from your deposit. Louis was also terrible to deal with, taking ages to reply and not helping whatsoever. AVOID.

This is a terrible agency. Repairs take forever. had ancient furniture. By the end of the tenancy the flat was left in great condition, even better than the state we got it in, and they had the audacity to cut a huge sum from my deposit regarding stuff out of my control, like cleaning windows externally, knowing Glasgow is a rainy city, and purposely delaying the post move out inspection, resulting in the delay of releasing of the deposit(what’s left) knowing that the flat got rented after my move out.

If you are a tenant of a DJ Alexander property be warned - they will demand an unjustified deduction from your deposit and hope that you will just give in to their demand rather than go through a protracted arbitration process.
In my case the deduction they demanded contradicted the conclusions of their own end-of-tenancy review report, which they seemed to ignore. I went to arbitration and, as a result, received back two thirds of the disputed amount, confirming the unjustified demand of the agent/landlord.
Don't think that being a good, conscientious tenant will protect you. Make sure you take lots of photos both at the beginning and end of your tenancy. DJ Alexander have an End of Tenancy Manager, based in their Edinburgh office, who was completely useless in managing the process in my case (my tenancy was in Glasgow but I had to deal with this lady in Edinburgh who knew nothing about the flat in question and I knew I couldn't rely on anything she said or wrote).

My property was taken over by these greedy so and so’s less than 18 months ago and the rent has increased more in this period than it had in the previous FIFTEEN YEARS ..needless to say I will be moving out. Avoid this mob at all costs they will only take you to the absolute cleaners

DJ Alexander were incompetent and unprofessional from the start. Went to view the property and letting agent left three of us waiting outside for ten minutes, before someone called and said the landlord was inside, why not greet the viewers at the door? Viewed the property and decided to go ahead, asked the agent to proceed with an application, the agent said he had sent an email with my application, I later realised he hadn't, I called to resolve this and was told to wait, waited until the next day and asked for another application, so had to chase this up.. filled it out within 20 minutes and was told in the next hour I had been successful. Then thr agent called me telling me the house was on a pro rata rate, meaning I had to pay two months upfront and the deposit, no mention of this on their advertisement or at the viewing! Highly unprofessional. Called and spoke to an agent regarding the situation, who apologised and said it was a mistake, that the rent was due on the 1st of each month but move in date was the 9th, I asked if I could move in on the 1st, so I didn't have to pay two months upfront.. to which the agent replied no it takes a week to draft up a lease and get the property cleaned and we are short staffed. It's no wonder the way the business is run, they can't keep staff. The date is the 20th of September then can't draft a lease and clean a property by the 1st ! It's as if they don't want anyone to move in. So they expect you to pay a full month's rent on the 9th and pay the rent for November on the 1st, plus the deposit and miss out on 9 days rent paid. What an absolute incompetent letting agent. Landlords using this letting agent will be very let down, losing good tenants to their laziness and untrained staff

Fortunately, during a viewing, we met Caroline from the DJ Alexander team, who truly understood our situation and guided us through the entire process. She did an outstanding job from start to finish. On the day of check-in, Diane was there to assist, providing us with all the necessary details and support.

It’s disappointing that to write this review I have had to give them a star at all!
DJ Alexander have to be the worst letting agency in Scotland and their checkout team in particular, the most unprofessional and least competent by a country mile.
Mine has been a disgraceful and genuinely shocking end of tenancy experience. I am (was) a landlord of a single properly. It has just been vacated and has been left in an appalling state by the tenants. Absolutely filthy with an appallingly neglected, overgrown & rubbish strewn private garden area, and a whole spectrum of damage to the interior fabric of the flat, including through unapproved installations by the tenant (some of which they’ve just left in place presumably to try and disguise the damage to plasterwork and tiling if removed).
I can only assume that DJ Alexander’s property inspector didn’t actually attend the flat in person for the check out inspection and / or paid zero heed to the terms of the PRA and the schedule of condition in so doing. This team is quite genuinely dangerously incompetent, such is the level of complete oblivion with which they have approached their obligations at tenancy end.
If you are a landlord be aware that this letting agency does nothing to actually earn their fees - they are unconcerned with ensuring that a tenant abides by the PRA terms and as for upholding the value in, and purpose of, forking out for a record of condition at tenancy outset - forget it. I did., but DJ Alexander haven’t actually bothered to measure the checkout condition of my fiat against it. As can be said about every aspect of my relationship with this shower, every penny paid to them has been money for absolutely nothing.
Oh, and they’ll pass you all round the houses too when you phone, and refuse to give you access to your own keys too. Heaven forbid they should actually offer meaningful service.
I cannot stress this enough - avoid, avoid, avoid this letting agent at all costs. Unhelpful, unprofessional and incompetent, they are nothing but a deeply unpleasant stain on the Scottish property sector.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with DJ Alexander Estate Agents. On the second day after moving into the property, I raised several maintenance issues and complaints. Despite sending multiple emails and making numerous calls to their office, I received no response or resolution. It has now been almost two months, and there is still no sign of any action or communication from their side. This level of service is unacceptable, and I will certainly not be recommending DJ Alexander to any of my friends or family.

Cannot recommend with respect to end of tenancy issues. Just be prepared to set aside £250 for their own cleaning company to come in after you've left because that's what they will charge you regardless of how clean a condition you return the property in.

Avoid them at all costs!! When you first apply they’re very helpful and nice but once you move in they ghost you they won’t help you!! My toilet wasn’t flushing properly from September 2023 and they didn’t fix it until April 2024 I was traveling when they fixed it and when I came back they left the bathroom in a disgusting way and when I contacted them asking who did this they said no entered the flat and that it’s my problem even tho they sent me an email that a contractor will be entering my flat while I was traveling!!! The washing machine was really old and broke on me while my clothes are inside it and they wouldn’t do anything I had to run after them 24/7 just for them to get my clothes out and I was left about 3-4 week without a washer/ dryer!!! When i moved in I was told the flat will be professionally cleaned but it wasn’t specifically the kitchen it was absolutely disgusting and when I asked them to send a cleaning company to clean it they refused and said it was cleaned but their was old rotten food in kitchen cupboards!! And after I moved out they completely ghosted me regarding my deposit after sending me an email that the cleaning I did wasn’t up to their standards but after I told them I hired a cleaning company that THEY RECOMMENDED TO ME and I payed 260£ to get cleaned to get my full deposit back they said ok we will recommend that the landlord returns the full deposit and I was ghosted after that for 3 weeks I started the deposit release process but they still didn’t respond even tho the flat was taken and occupied by the new tenants I had to call them while I was out of the country and run after them 24/7 just to get my money back they made everything 10000x more difficult and stressful they will try to get every £ they can get from you!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE THE WORST LETTING AGENCY I EVER WORKED WITH!!!

The absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with. Avoid them at all costs! Moved into our flat that had clearly not been cleaned with mould everyone and the floors not even been hoovered. After we moved out due to the disgraceful way we were treated (we didn’t have a shower for 3 months and DJ Alexander did not fix it), we have now been billed a £400 cleaning fee despite cleaning the flat from top to bottom before we moved out. They are clearly deleting reviews as I have never heard anyone say anything good about them.

I am moving from one flat to another, both in Glasgow and managed by D J Alexander. I have been quite happy with them so far, although I am yet to undergo the handover of the old flat. I want to highlight in particular the service provided by one of the agents, Scott Luttrell, who has been exceptional, assisting with several things over the last few days. Today we finished the check-in at the new flat, and he made the process really smooth and pleasant. He's been very welcoming, kind, patient, and helpful!

Went to view a property to buy Estate agent showing us round mentioned damp that wasn’t on the home report casually and with no other information. Emailed the office and they couldn’t even answer basic questions about the property and mentioned other unreported issues. Really dodgy estate agent will avoid any properties listed by them in future. Feel bad for whoever bought that flat

The online system to book the viewing was quite straitforward, although sometimes is hard to find many options available. But since it is my first experience renting in Glasgow, I have to say it is very good so far.

We are tenants and living in Glasgow and so far we have a very dissapointing experience with D.J.Alexander
As a background story, our flat was managed by Fineholm and then it was passed into D.J.Alexander
The first and major issue we had reported to Fineholm ever since we moved in, is that our underfloor heating is not working properly. The thermostats are broken and can not adjust the temperature. We have had incidents where the heating would increase on its own, making the flat scalding hot. While we have extensively reported the following to Fineholm and D.J.Alexander should have had a clear picture of this, they claim they don't. We had inspections with D.J.Alexander where we are bringing this matter up and say they will resolve it, only to leave to us, the tenants to resolve the issue. They said to us that they do not know of the issue and our landlord is not aware which I don't know how many times I left incidents about the following. Their contractors would come to the flat saying this needs to be fixed and nobody is following up from there
Also, we have a water leakage from Thursday, going into the downstair flat. They insisted on having a plumber appointment very late at Thursday and kept us waiting the whole day and night only to promise us they will fix it. Based on the heating issue and overall poor responses from D.J.Alexander and our landlord, we said that D.J.Alexander should own this incident and do not let us, the tenants resolve the issue. On Friday 16.52 time, we received a message from a plumber service that is supposed to be their emergency service, saying their offices are open 9am till 5pm which is apparently very late for us to do anything. I called the plumber service highlighting that we have a water leakage and they said they will call us back. Contractor plumbing service or D.J.Alexander never called us back and they closed our incident without being resolved! Essentially, D.J.Alexander left us with a water leakage from Thursday evening to Monday morning at best.
I am giving this review to fellow tenants to not choose D.J.Alexander if they can, as I can not understand what added value companies like Fineholm or D.J.Alexanders are addding for the tenants other than creating incidents. They leave to us, the tenants to follow up with DJ.Alexander so they can contact landlords. It has been a very stressful experience and mind you we are paying a generous rent only to be treated this way

My experience with DJ Alexander was a very pleasant and professional one all down to the impeccable service we received from Paige who truly is an asset to the company, and assisted us in our search for a flat promptly.
Paige had a very polite, personable manner which put us at ease with all the stress that comes with flat hunting right from the start. We were made to feel that Paige was always there for us to ask any questions at all and she was incredibly responsive and kind in her communication. Paige truly went above and beyond and her level of service must be highlighted. Thank you so much to Paige, we are so grateful for your help in finding our gorgeous flat.
I must also mention Gill, our lovely Applications Advisor who was an absolute pleasure to deal with and her level of service and professionalism was simply exceptional. This is the worst letting agent I've ever dealt with in Glasgow after they took over from Fineholm (who I had a great experience with).
They have no intention of looking after their tenants, their only interest is in raising your rent and taking as much money from you as possible.
I was with them just under 2 years and in that time they increased my rent twice and left me without a working boiler for 10 months (including over winter) until I eventually ended my tenancy with them.
I had to continually chase them and contact them repeatedly about issues with the flat which they didn't follow up or sort out. I wouldn't recommend them in the slightest.

Stay Away : The Worst Agency in Scotland
I recently had a highly disappointing experience with D.J. Alexander Real Estate Agency during my three-month stay in one of their apartments. From the very beginning, I encountered multiple issues that left me feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.
When I moved into the apartment, I was shocked to find that the oven was filthy and the toilet floors were uncleaned. To make matters worse, there were used razors and soaps left in the bathroom. Throughout my tenancy, I had to personally clean up the mess left behind and ensure the apartment was in an acceptable condition. However, this effort seemed to be in vain. Upon moving out, I was denied the return of my deposit. The agency claimed that repairs were needed for doors and for cleaning, even though the doors were in the same condition as before and I had left the apartment spotless.
This experience left me feeling frustrated and disheartened by the lack of professionalism and integrity displayed by D.J. Alexander. I am deeply disappointed that I had to deal with such unprofessionalism and disregard for tenants' rights. I strongly advise anyone considering renting from this agency to think twice before making a commitment. My encounter with D.J. Alexander has been nothing short of disappointing, and I believe potential renters deserve better treatment and service than what I experienced.

The have zero interest in ensuring their landlords comply with current legislations.
They have no interest in the health and safety of their tenants.
They don't do their due diligence on properties they take on and their customer care is non existent.
The repairs and maintenance team provide a very poor service.
If you value your health don't let a property from them, go to a reputable agency

They will try everything they can to not repay your deposit including trying to make you use their cleaning company which is illegal. I would never consider renting one of their flats ever again and I would stay away as a landlord as well

We have only just moved into one of their properties. The blinds fell down, extractor doesn't work, there has been no water since Sunday and they're not sending someone until Friday! We can't clean, wash dishes, the bathroom got torn apart by a plumber who said they didnt put a thermostat in the pipes so there is only ever scalding hot water. Pipe burst, scalding water was spraying everywhere. Pipes still haven't been fixed. Were humans who are paying to live here, I'm outraged. I very strongly DO NOT recommended this company.

When Speris Gumley sold to them, after a long time of renting with them, all the problems started. Staff is unhelpful and doesn't seem to communicate with each other so that you're often talking to several people about the same issue that don't know what you've communicated with the other,

Honestly couldn't even find a place to start with how bad our experience with this agency has been. I don't know if it's because we are on the younger side (20 and 21) and look like we would be too scared to talk back or if this is just how they treat all their clients but DJ Alexander have, from the moment we first submitted our application to the moment we got our keys, been nothing but rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and downright accusatory in their approach towards us. They use predatory tactics such as nonsensical deadlines halfway through your workday for submitting documents that they only informed you the morning of, threats of annulling your application if you fail to deliver documents which we expressed we needed more time to acquire, etc. Emails to our guarantor were sent to my partner despite them having all necessary contact details, sometimes emails to my partner were sent to me and vice versa, or only one of us would receive information necessary for both of us to proceed with the application and would have to forward everything between ourselves. When I enquired when exactly we would be getting our keys as somebody was meant to contact us to discuss a date, I was simply told when my appointment was with a date and time already decided without my input. I had to find cover for work and did not appreciate this at all. At the appointment I felt the purpose was not to help me learn everything I needed to know about my new home, but rather to scare me about what would happen if I stepped out of line. Supposedly over 100 pictures were taken of the flat (this was emphasised to me MANY times as though to say "so don't even try to fool us about anything you change here") and I was told I would be sent a link to access this later, but no such link ever came, not to mention the whole issue we had with only being told we weren't allowed to paint AFTER getting the keys despite being initially told the landlord was lenient and it shouldn't be a problem, and then continuously trying to enquire about it throughout the application process and being told they had yet to hear from the landlord about it. All of it left a sour taste in our mouths and to anyone wanting to apply for a rental property with this agency i would say just save yourself the trouble. The only good experience we have had is that there was a leak coming from the toilet and that was very quickly sorted, but otherwise everything left us incredibly stressed in a time when we were already anxious about finding a place to live.

Terrible company, throughout our tenancy we have had multiple issues with the flat that have been reported but not assisted with, we moved into the place where there were countless dead flies and cat hairs assumedly from the previous tenants everywhere that WE had to clean up.
I'm writing this review as I have just moved out, and now they are attempting to extort us of a minimum of £60 for cleaners to clean a few soap marks and tissues that were used to clean the place FOR them aswell as some marks and hairs left from the PREVIOUS TENANT.
We called them to try and understand why a cleaner had to be sent out for such a minimal clean up job ASWELL as the fact that we didn't receive similar treatment when it came to moving into the property.
All we received in return is an unhelpful, rude woman that was in an essence revelling in the fact we had to pay this ridiculous bill.
And on top of all of this, it costed £735pcm to live in a rinky dinky flat in glasgow.
Would not recommend, they will extort you for any chance they can get and blame you.

At 1st, i was a bit suspicious of renting with DJ Alexanders with the negative comments I have seen.
Trying to get a viewing was difficult and i had a few appointments cancelled on the day. When i got the viewing the Property Manager Imran, explained to me why they were cancelled which is understandable. (If the LET has been agreed there is no point of continuing with the viewing.)
I applied for a few properties and some I got rejected which was no part of DJ Alexander's, it was this the landlord's decision.
After being accepted by a property, I have successfully moved in.When the key handover/ Check-in happened, Imran showed me how to use the heating systems and which right department to contact if there were any issues.

Try and phone and you wont even book me in when I'm available. So you can milk people for overpriced flats but it's not cost effective for you to take the time to show me it. Awful attitude.

I was with another agency ( Speirs Gumley)for over 6 years until about 3 months ago my old agent moved me to DJ Alexander. Any problem I had in my house for the six years I was with another agent the owner was responding the same day or the day after. I had problem with boiler for the last 2 months every time I call I have to wait on line for an hour to get someone to answer. I had to call for emergency mid of December at 11:30pm when the weather was freezing cold because the boiler stopped working
I travel to Australia during Christmas time and I called the agency several times and email them before I left to arrange someone to come to fix the boiler as soon as I come back which it was the 4th of January
When I come back nothing happened house was freezing cold no hot water and the agency replied that the owner didn’t response which is surprising
I called the same day I arrived many times and no one replied to me until the end of the day I called them and I was telling them that I’m not going to pay the rent for this month as the house wasn’t suitable to leave in
I had to call my friend to come to get the water working for me and because of the cold weather and the cold water I used I had to go for emergency and I had chest infection
2 days after they reply and arrange someone to come and fix it a week of my arrival
They do terrible service people are unprofessional to deal with situations and they put everything on the owner of the property which is not true
Avoid this agency and I wish my landlord read my review because I am sure he is a great person as I was at the same property since 2016

Stay away from this bogus "estate agents". After spending nearly £300 for a flight from London to come view a property which was booked with them. They cancelled the viewing with a simple text last minute. They didn't have the decency to call me and atlest explain or help me find a alternative.
But I'm glad it didn't work out they can stick their viewings and their apartments!!!

Please note: this review is completely accurate and true and instead of being exaggerated has instead been ‘dumbed down’ due to the lack of energy and effort I can put into listing all the failings of DJ Alexander.
This all started at the start of August, 2 weeks prior to existing tenants leaving and is ongoing.
I do not understand how this company can function as a business. They recently took over managing my rental property through the acquisition of Fineholm letting and I have had nothing but issues. Basically no communication from the company at all. They didn’t even advertise my property when existing tenants left. They were unable to tell my why they had missed this. They forgot to pay me my rental income. They forgot to email close out details when my tenants left . They have repeatedly told me someone would get back to me but no one does. Even the staff on the phone admit their system isn’t the best. If there were not financial implications in all this it would be comical.
I have repeatedly asked for them to return my keys.
Even the simplest things such as they told me it was impossible tenant left and took the bedding as they don’t supply any. Even though I informed them when I rented out the property initially through Fineholm I had included bedding. They still denied it was possible.
I am at my wits end with this company. All I get told is ‘I appreciate your frustration and I will get someone to call you back straight away’.
I have honestly never experienced anything like it in my life. And I am the landlord who owns the property that they make their money through. What on earth must it be to be a tenant in one of their properties!
It truly beggars belief!
Update….
More daily phone calls from me chasing things up. Every time explaining the whole situation again. Every time being told it will be taken to the highest level and is being investigated and treated with the upmost urgency. Every day I go through the whole process again.
I would wash my hands of them if they did not hold all the keys to my property and owe me money.
Do not sign up with this company if you expect any level of basic service or communication or professionalism from a letting agent.
I will continue to update as this goes on…
I may start even naming individuals within the company who have excelled in their incompetence.

I had an issue with a leak in my room and despite the work taking a bit longer than I would of hoped for, the maintenance co-ordinator Mark Graham was absolutely fantastic. He helped me resolve the issue as quick as humanly possible and was very responsive to my emails. he was very understanding and had great customer service skills. I had an issue with my boiler over winter which left me with no heating or hot water. This took over a week to resolve. I was then offered a meager compensation for the trouble. When I complained I did not gain any traction until I included Richard. Richard is a very good professional who helped and provided a solution. However, this has then been handed to other members of DJ Alexander team to put in place including Rhys and the accounts team. Over 2 months since the initial problem the promises still have not been fulfilled.
As a tenant I would avoid DJ Alexander at all costs - letting agents are meant to make the process of renting a property easier than going directly through a landlord and on this occasion DJ Alexander have failed at every point.
I believe DJ Alexander take a percentage of the rent between 10%-12%. For both myself and the landlord I fail to see where these costs are justified. The saving could be made at either side and provide a more efficient process than the one experienced when dealing with DJ Alexander.

I've been flat hunting for a while now and whenever I tried to make an enquiry with DJ Alexander there has been no response at all! I've applied to multiple flats via their enquiry form on their website and I have never received a reply or even an acknowledgement. For each service, I was very impressed with the proactive and responsive way in which the team and especially Catherine Bruce handled any queries I had. Buying or selling a property can be a long, arduous process (especially over lockdown) but Catherine made the process as simple as possible and communicated updates regularly to put me at ease. My partner and I were looking for a new flat and DJ Alexander could not be more helpful.
Many of the services were automated and online meaning that when we did need access to information it was readily available.
If we did have more questions, and there was a lot, our contact Laura Mc was extremely responsive and friendly, often picking up the phone within minutes of me sending an email and remaining professional and friendly throughout. This is so much better than the agents I've dealt with in the past who takes hours or even days to respond.
Next time we move, I'd definitely want to use D.J Alexander again!

As a tenant who had the unfortunate time of having to live in one of their properties all I can say is STAY AWAY FROM DJ ALEXANDER!!
After multiple failed maintenance requests due to the black mold, broken boiler which took them 2 week to send out an emergency engineer to inspect it, wind drought windows with poor rotting frames, throughout our stay they preform little to no request until rent was threatens until fixing.
In addition to this, we received an email from the same agent who moved us in threatening us with a false complaint about damages outside the property, after we asked for an inspection for the "damages" as we had caused none, the same agent told us that they will not perform the investigation but will keep the complaint on our file, without any evidence.
As you can imagine, when we raised this concern their agency didn't even react to it, I am still awaiting their response to how their agent threatening us with this false complaint.
Finally, when you move out you best believe you best not have had actually lived in their property because they charges us £16 from a cleaner to wipe "goodbye flat 2/2" of a chalk board on top of the condensation BETWEEN the window panes (If the condensation is in-between the window panes it means the windows aren't air tight), and £128 for what they called blue tac marks. This after them after inspecting the property 2 weeks after we vacant it allowing dust to form due to this property lack of maintenance. In addition this when requesting a full legible invoice of the costs the agents find it appropriate to pass you onto someone new, I have asked 3 agents up to now to produce this.
They're more than happy and smiley when they move you in cos they know you're getting swindled and in a few week time when you need maintenance they'll take their sweet time as informed by 2 of the 3rd party contractors during their "maintenance request inspections"
In the time I lived there we had over 8 different contractor come out to the property and over multiple reported issues, with a grand total of maintenance completion being 2, once again as we withheld rent.
If you're a student, live in, or planning to move to Glasgow. I would highly advise against renting from DJ Alexander in the future.

We have just finished renting with DJ Alexander and cannot recommend anyone goes with them as a letting agent. They are truly the most horrible, unpleasant, and most unprofessional letting agent I have ever had to deal with.
During the process of viewing the property, alongside getting our lease signed etc. they were extremely helpful and responsive but as soon as we moved in everything changed.
We disagreed with a number of items on the inventory and noted this on our inventory before sending it off only to receive no response. We chased this up 3 times over the next 2 weeks only to eventually receive a response apologising for things being missed but telling us that because our inventory was now submitted late (it wasn't when we originally sent it off) that it was too late to add the things we disagreed on. After a bit of back and forth DJ eventually conceded to send out a contractor to repair the damage to our property (a broken door entry phone) and clean the grease clogged vents which they noted on their inventory were 'cleaned to a professional standard". To get to this stage took over 2 months.
On check-in we noted there was no Carbon Monoxide alarm in the property, a failure of the legal requirement to have one in Scotland where you have a gas central heating system. Again, this took months to resolve.
6 months in we began having issues with our 23 year old gas hobs in the kitchen. They would randomly spark, and ignite without input from ourselves which we saw as a significant gas safety issue. DJ Alexander responded with a email from the landlord stating " I won't be repairing it. If they don't like it well then they can move out!" and DJ Alexander defending this stance from the landlord. We referred this issue to the Scottish Court First Tier Tribunal service who accepted our case and months later (in February) around 5 or so days before go before the Tribunal we received a very panicked email from DJ Alexander offering to replace the hobs which we accepted and they did meaning we could cancel this referral.
After this, we got the feeling that the landlord, and DJ Alexander were not fond of us as tenants. We received notice of a rental increase soon after this and then COVID-19 hit. During this time, they attempted to send contractors to our property to conduct PAT testing despite the government advice being that only gas safety checks should be carried out. They intimidated my partner on the phone by telling her, falsely, that we legally had to grant them access and that 'the regulations say you must' and then only backed down when I asked them to provide evidence of this guidance and referred them to the Scottish Government's webpage which showed otherwise.
Almost as soon as the ban on evictions was lifted in Scotland due to coronavirus we received our notice to leave (the day after reporting that the front door lock was no longer functioning). Citing the landlord intends to sell.
We are now in dispute with them over the check out inventory where they have apologised numerous times for 'mistakes' on their part but continue to chop and change what they say we are liable for.
Throughout our tenancy they also attempted to make changes to their 'repairs process' which flew directly in contradiction to our lease and only conceded after we pointed this out to them.
This consistent pattern of 'making mistakes' apologising for them, and then holding us liable / responsible for their lack of care/attention to detail is nothing short of unprofessional and I can truly say that I, nor will I recommend anyone, rents with DJ Alexander.
I would truly rather be homeless than rent with them again.
I intend to take our experience to our local MSP to ask them to campaign for better protection for those in the private rental market. DJ Alexander really do live up to their poor reputation of treating tenants unfairly and the reputation in general that private landlords have for being inhuman.

Tried reaching the company every day for two weeks. Had no response from emails and when calling you are given options:
1 for enquiries, viewings and applications
2 for landlords looking for services
There's never a response for 1 but always a response for 2 and will only refer your number and never get back.
Would not recommend this company!

I have been using DJ Alexander for around 2 years to rent out my property and paid around £2.5k in fees but had an absolutely shocking service from start to finish. They have not inspected the property regularly, the place has been wrecked by the tenants and they didn't even tell me when the tenants had given notice! The shower screen was broken off and in the livingroom, the place was filthy, damp in the bathroom, the front door frame has been damaged and the kitchen hob is now completely black. I have received one inspection report in 2 years and I've asked on multiple occasions where the rest are with no response. When I then advised I would be moving back into the property, they arranged for the check out to be done, but today I have just found them marketing my property on their website and Facebook. I called up and they even have viewings booked in for next week - when I am meant to be moving back in! Incompetent, would NEVER use again and would never recommend using. I am a first time landlord and I think they have taken advantage of the fact I am relatively inexperienced and just taken my money without giving a good service in return.

A sneaky, snakey company that will do all it can to make sure you don't get your deposit back! Poor customer service, was left without acceptable heat levels from the radiator due to a boiler issue that took 6 months to repair

Me and my partner were searching for a new flat and I think we all know how tedious the search for a place you can call home can be. We have had our fair share of interaction with other letting agencies in the past that has left us with a lot of reserve when searching for a flat, but I can safely say our experience with D.J Alexander was, simply put, amazing.
From their letting agents to their finance and lease departments (special mentions to Mr. David Sullivan who showed us the flats and to Mr. Lee Charlton who took care of all the paperwork), everyone was friendly, quick, accurate and very professional. They were ready to answer all our equiries, they didn't apply any extra letting fees (something a lot of letting agencies do to their potential tenants without informing the tenants in advance (that has happened to us twice!)) and finally the whole process was over in a matter of days.

Recently moved house into a property with D.J Alexander. Have to say , David Sullivan was excellent the property was a good size but in a state of disrepair. We told David we would like to take the property if it was redecorated - he liaised with the land lord to organise this, and even wrote it into our lease that we would not have to take the property if required work was not completed.
We are very happy with the property and David was great.

I have rented homes in the past with agencies but DJ Alexander is different to other agencies. The end to end process is very smooth and especially the digitial experience in contract signing and smooth handling by everyone of the staff is really amazing.
