Moving places for me overall was not great. The main issue was the lack of urgency when issues with the flat arose. For example, the lock on my door broke and I was unable to access any of my belonging or medications. After contacting moving places that evening, I was told to expect a call that evening to get access to my room. After having to chase up the issue the next day multiple times, they only arrived on the property the next evening, just to see if one of their estate agents could open the door, despite myself and multiple others trying. I explained multiple times the urgency of this issue as I couldn’t access any of my belongings but they didn’t seem to care. A locksmith was send the following morning which was good but late.
We had many changes in estate agents for our property, meaning we would have to call multiple times and explain issues to multiple different people.

They took the deposit and rent payment from my friend and 4 days before moving date they told they can't give the house. She almost became homeless. They didn't even give back the rent and said they can't give back the holding deposit.
It's daylight theft.
Other agencies doesn't do this. Only moving place. The agent name was aropa or something.
Even if you don't have a house, ask other agency or move to a different place and never go to moving place because they take money from you and you won't even get the house. They should have told they can't give the house first itself.
Edit: they said they'll give back the rent paid in 7 days and its been 12 days and still no response!!!

No proper updates or communications, we had to call them again and again for the updates before moving in.
The house we moved in had beg bugs, the house was not professionally cleaned and checked. They don’t care about the tenants. Atleast that’s what has happened to us. They toilets were dirty, dust, insects. Worst condition.
Please do not use this agency.

Emma was good throughout the process and stayed contactable in every process. We were moved flats into one with a higher cost due to the previous tenants deciding to return, which was an inconvenience and feels as if they should've been asked first, but other than that, it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend moving places.
Edit: Just moved out after spending my 2nd year of Uni in one of Moving places' properties and I am glad to report that it was a pleasant experience. Throughout the ending months of the tenancy, Dev was very helpful and saved us tons of money and hassle, keeping what would usually be a stressful part of a rental contract, nice and relaxed. Thanks again to moving places, Emma and Dev for your help.

Dev took over from our previous point of contact after one estate agent left the company, and as soon as he took over he was responsive, communicative, kind and understanding.
He managed to negotiate an early termination of the tenancy with the landlord due to our very early end-of-year date at the university and ensured our deposit was swiftly returned.
He always gave informative responses and made sure that me and my other two flatmates were up to date with any news.

Our short journey with Moving Places has been like one I have never experienced before. From the company finding it hard to fix the heating system when it is -5 outside, to ignoring emails for MONTHS and a failed attempt to scam us into taking more of our deposit money than needed. If at fault about mixing up the rent payment due dates, expect 6 calls per day even outside business hours and no consideration of person’s personal life or international transfers process. When moved out the company requested 700 pounds in cleaning fees, CARPET CLEANING fees, UNBLOCKING BATHROOM DRAIN fees, and REPAIRING A WINDOW HINGE fees - all of which were denied by the DPS. When the questions were asked about the amount the answers were rather vague and lacked evidence. In the 3 emails where the company of the DPS was requested there was a failed attempt to hide it from us as we had to find the signed papers from a year ago ourselves.
I highly recommend to choose another agency that treats students just like any other client, that does not try to scam or in other cases block people from their instagram account when asked about the deposit money.

During our time at Moving Places we all had great difficulty with the Landlord of the property we were living in (they're no-longer using Moving Places for their properties). Throughout the 2 years we struggled greatly with getting the landlord's approval for repairs and maintenance, and recently with getting our deposit returned.
Moving Places has been incredibly understanding and helpful, despite our intial rudeness and not understanding fully how agencies work. The team at Moving Places, particularly Alice, have given us consistent communication and support throughout our 2-year tenancy and after leaving the property. I recommend students using a letting agent to find accommodation, to understand that legally the agency needs the Landlord's permission to carry out works and such, and that due to this there may be delays in action. You are in good hands with Moving Places Hatfield

I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of communication with regards to properties. I have called, emailed, and left messages several times and have been ignored for almost a month. My partner has also contacted Moving Places, but has also been met with silence. It is very upsetting when you do not get a response back.

They have not trimmed the hedge or cut the grass this year!
I and the students who live there have complained to them but they're doing nothing!

5 star service. Fantastic company to deal with. I rented a property for my staff for 12 months. They dealt with all the paperwork very efficiently, fairly and even dealt with any Maintenence issues throughout the year very quickly.

My flat was handled by the housing agent Rosie. Over the 3 years period, she has been amazing and extremely helpful. I have recently moved into a new property managed by Moving Places. Prior to signing the tenancy agreement and move in date, I had a few queries about the property and was super impressed by the responsiveness of Rosie and the team. Any questions and problems I had about the tenancy and property were dealt with efficiently and professionally. In addition to this, since I have moved into the property Rosie and the Moving Places team have been able to quickly resolve any arising problems. Massive thumbs up from me, great customer service :)

Me and my partner signed contracts very early this year and gave deposits but the agent forgot to say the landlord hadn’t signed the contracts so for the whole year while all the other flats were being reserved we didn’t actually have a place to live, then the landlord obviously pulled out 4 weeks before move in! Must have forgot to mention that we didn’t actually have the flat. Rosie the agent then tried to justify her actions by saying it’s not her responsibility to have the landlord sign the contract? How isn’t it the agents duty to make sure the contract has been signed? And of course they had no issue demanding a deposit as soon as possible, and of course we’re still waiting for that deposit back.
So to recap we did everything right, we got in early with a deposit, we sent our details and then a month before move in we find out we have no where to live, but that we can’t blame moving places because somehow it’s not the responsibility of the agent to make sure the landlords signs all relevant paperwork, or simply tell us so we can have a backup?
Overall absolutely poor experience
I always see the company replying to bad reviews saying it wasn’t there fault and out of there hands (covering their behinds) so please tell me how it’s not your fault you didn’t tell us we didn’t have a contract in place and ergo no place to live, please tell me how it’s not your fault

Very slow to respond to emails, sometimes with no responses at all. I've found that issues get resolved eventually but only after emailing several times in a row or actually showing up at the office, which can be inconvenient. Perhaps it's only certain employees and it might not be reflective of Moving Places as a whole, but I have also experienced quite rude behaviour from a particular staff member at the office (although I'm not sure of his name). This included being outright blamed in a somewhat aggressive manner for not reporting a problem sooner (which I definitely did, but they forgot about it), as well as having a letter addressed to a previous tenant with rent debts flung back at me and being told that this is none of their problem anymore and to tell the debt collectors to "go fishing somewhere else". Not sure what I did to warrant such a response, but okay?
I can see there's a lot of good reviews so I'm not sure what's going on here.
Edit: They will rob you of your deposit for sure! We made sure to leave everything in great condition at the end of our tenancy, better than when we had moved in to be honest. Yet, they still managed to take a significant chunk of our deposit for ridiculous reasons. One being that their curtain "went missing", although I 100% guarantee that the curtains were in fact not missing because I personally folded them and left them on the bed before leaving the flat. Nobody else could have entered the flat and stolen those old curtains, unless it was a ghost? Unlikely.

If you are a student or even a family, I STRONGLY advice you not to use this estate agency, they are bottom barrel worst of the worst. If I could give them zero stars I would. Before we moved in, we were promised certain things in the house would be renovated and new items/furniture would be placed in the home. For example we were told the carpet would be stripped and replaced with a new one. However upon arrival to the property when moving in, we had realised that nothing had been changed and everything was pretty much the same.
We had moved into a half broken house and the landlord of the house (Paul) was the most obtuse individual I had ever come across. He was intrusive and just not a nice person in general. The problem with Paul began when he would ask us questions pertaining to whether we took drugs. In particular crack cocaine. This was not only insane but quite frankly very offensive. The first week we had moved into the property we had no hot water for about 5 days. There was a fault with the boiler which we later found out would affect us multiple times during our stay. At random times the boiler would make loud banging noises which we complained about to our landlord and estate agent however our landlord was adamant that we were the ones who had made the boiler faulty. On different occasions we had no hot water, no heating and leaks. water dripping from one room to another and even into the kitchen where the water would sit inside the kitchen lights. We emailed Moving places multiple times about this however they just didn’t seem to care.
They didn’t care that it was a health and safety hazard and they didn’t care that we were students. They were quick to take money from us and once they had our money didn’t really care about what happened in the property.
Anyways fast forward to the COVID period and most of us had moved out of the property as lectures were no longer taking place. We had spoken to our landlord and literally begged him to terminate our contract early or to cut the rent in half as we weren’t staying there. However, to no surprise he didn’t want to do neither. So we were stuck paying £450-£500 each, every month on a property we weren’t inside or using. Baring in mind this was the peak of the pandemic so most of us weren’t employed or most of our family members had been laid off. However, we still managed to pay the rent in full. Even though there was a total disregard that we were struggling to pay.
Almost a year later and till this day we have received not ONE penny of our deposit back.
Use this company at your own risk. It is really not worth all the headache and cash loss. If you’re a student you’re better off using Strats Estate Agents.

They don't reply to emails, except for new or prospective clients.
When I called them, the "one person who can help is busy". I was told they'd call me back.
I waited an hour and then I called them again, I got straight through. So don't wait for them to call you.
If you have a better option, go with the better option
If you have an issue with them, it's better to turn up in person. They WILL ignore your emails and phone calls, but not if you're at the front desk.
I've also have been waiting well over a month for my deposit. In the contract it will take up to a month but not more.
They rely heavily on students being too busy to call, and too busy to travel to their offices. They ignore emails, and don't call you back. I imagine if there weren't 3 of us pushing, they wouldn't be giving us our deposits back.

When starting with the university of Hertfordshire i had to find local student accommodation. Moving places was reccomended and there range of student accommodation properties were vast and matched my needs with other students studying similar degrees. Location was perfect and the prices were more than reasonable. I would reccomend to any other students looking for a property to live/study in the Hatfield area. Before moving into a one-bed apartment in Parkhouse court for our final year at University, we requested whether we could, move in a couple of days earlier if agreed with the previous tenant and purchase a parking permit and extra keys. Moving Places and our estate agent Dev sorted out all communication with the tenant and really went above and beyond to make our move go smoothly - having everything ready for the day of the move.
After checking our online inventory Dev came to review some electrical work and has scheduled an electrician without us having to chase up or ignore the issue. He has asked the landlord whether we could remove wall stickers from the walls (left by the previous tenant) whereby he would come personally to help us remove these and organise a painter to come if this leaves marks on the walls.
So far I am really impressed with Moving Places and have never experienced such amazing customer service, friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism from an estate agent. I can't express enough how grateful I am, thank you for all your help Dev - we really appreciate it!

As a student in Hertfordshire university, I have used moving places a number of times with no complaints. Not to say I’ve not had issues with the property but always found the staff at MP always willing to get things rectified with urgency.

Really pleased with this agent, got a good relationship with the member of staff who manages our property, and with the manager of this branch. All complaints and repairs are either actioned quickly or sound advice is given on what we can do. Our term ended in 09/19 in a shared house, but we liked the agent so much we got another property with them which we are very happy with. I would definately recommend this estate agent to friends and family.

I reccomend you ask for Rosie, she was very good with us, and willing to help us, she shorted most of the issues we had with the property and never bothered us with viewings or anything. She also helped us get almost all the deposit money back. Good overall experience I recommend this place if you looking for a place in Hatfield. However not everybody in there is friendly especially that Indian boss is kinda of a diva he thinks he owns Hatfield or something, if you avoid him the rest of the people working in there are decent and trying to do their job.

They were so helpful in renting out of my property and went out of their way to provide excellent service. As i am currently out of the country they were in contact out of office hours and organised cleaning and inventory of the property for me to a high standard. They were in regular contact as to viewings and filled the flat a day after the previous tenant left.

This is the worse letting agency I have ever had to deal with. The administration is awful. Communication is shocking. Knowledge of the market is non existent. The staff were unhelpful and unorganised. Once they have your money, they don't really care. They provide very little support and are hopeless at dealing with queries. Double check everything they say and promise to do. So unreliable. Steer clear!

Unprofessional people. When i go to work they just get into flat for viewing without even trying to contact me. I caught them twice when i came back early from work , i found my door open and a agent and 2 other men in my flat as soon agent saw me she said ‘ I was about to contact you’ I complaint about this to agency and them get confirmation before bringing people in my flat, but she again did same soo frustrating, they dnt care for anyone’s privacy or any rules.

I would like to say you guys are the best property Agent that i’ve been seeing all this while. I’ve just moving to Moving Places for just a month , and i am fully satisfied and do really appreciate with whatever they have provided to me so far. Before i rent the places in aviation avenue (Hatfield) , i look through everything in the house and including the room that i am going to stay . I raise my issues to them saying “ the carpet is isn’t look clean and its burning because of the previous tenant who lived here.” I got a straight reply from Beej & Dev, “How if we change for you a new carpet&paint the entire room so it will look new.”
Without thinking , I Definitely say YESS ! Prefect ! Great ! And 2weeks later i move in to the property, i got another issues which im staying with all british people and im a Asian.All of them are such a nice people but I couldn’t stand with the weather in the UK . So whenever i switch on the heaters, surely there will be someone turn it off . This is because they want to save the utility bills . So i dont mind . It isnt fair if im the only person using the heater and the rest doesnt need it. One day i bump into Beej and Dev in the weekend , they are politely asking me “hows everything”. I return a reply and say :”i’m fine and good “. But the only thing is im suffering with the cold. Beej straight away asking dev to get me a heater and it doesnt cost me a single penny . I was so happy, soo grateful meeting this kind of people in my life . I just smile widely and keep saying thank you. Couldny ask for more besides saying THANKS THANKS THANKS ! Two days after, i got a new heater delivered right to my door step and Dev is such a wonderful person .He fix everything for me . Omg! God bless . I would highly recommend due to their friendly, yet professional service. All issues are dealt with efficiently within a professional manner. You guys did a great Job !

If you’re a student stay away from these people for the sake of your own sanity and wellbeing. Stay in uni accommodation!
I say this because I have literally been evicted out of a flat by them. They came knocking on the door with no notice whatsoever, no phone call or email, and they demanded that I move out of the property. Just to be clear, I did not owe them any money at all. The next morning they came and CHANGED THE LOCK WHILE I WAS SLEEPING THEN SWITCHED OFF GAS AND ELECTRICITY, leaving me with no other choice but to pack up my things in the dark and move. I even ended up having to throw most of my food away since it would have been unsafe to eat.
They put me in another property that was horrendous as”compensation” but did not mention that I had to compromise and go without heating (the boiler in that property has been broken even before the previous tenants who were also students moved out) About 3 weeks later they then started ringing me saying that they wanted me to move out of this property. I had a lot of uni work to do so I was not interested in any more moving. They then decided that they weren’t going to fix the boiler (the previous tenants suffered throughout last winter and nobody bothered to have the boiler fixed/serviced as it should be every year) or anything else that needed fixing.
When I moved into that property Sam (moving places) told me that Faraz was responsible for giving me the keys. I’ve asked to have the heating fixed for more than a month, even asked to see the boiler servicing certificate but Faraz said that he didn’t know anything about it and that he was not the landlord.
I can not count how many times I’ve been reduced to tears and suffered emotional stress from being pressured to move out whilst trying to do my dissertation in a cold house (it’s now November 6th and the heating still hasn’t been fixed). They do not care about anything but but money so beware! They do this to students and get away with it because that’s all we are and nobody will do anything about it.

Absolutely shocking service STAY AWAY! Claim to be number one choice in Hatfield, if they’re number one I’d hate to see what estate agents are worse than them!
When we moved in the house was a mess and hadn’t been cleaned at all despite them saying they had professional cleaners in, eventually sent them again and they ran out the house after a few minutes of hoovering. Many issues throughout the year which took so much time and energy to chase up, normally ended with us giving up completely and dealing with it ourselves or ignoring (if it was minor enough).
Then half way through our tenancy we messaged our personal agent who replied saying she no longer worked there and that it wasn’t her problem? Surely they should have informed us of this as soon as this happened rather than us texting a number that was no longer linked to the business!
When it came to moving out it almost doesn’t seem worth all the effort. I’m 100% sure they told the new tenants they could move in two weeks before our contract ended without consulting us? I know this because we offered to move out early as we were students no longer living there and they seemed surprised and extremely eager to have us out as tenants had a moving in date earlier than our end date. Then comes the fight to get the deposit back... if you are going to stick with them get EVIDENCE of everything it’s so important! They will try and charge you for everything under the sun, even to the point you’ll argue the costs away with one person ring the next day to chase your money and they’ve found five more issues which are non existent to test you with. I can’t put into words how frustrating and seemingly uneducated they seem when dealing with issues and their communication skills between each other, let alone how rude they are to you as a customer!

This staff at this company are EVIL-! If you are a student stay away! Stay on campus if you can! Moving places deserves -ve stars if Google would allow it...They demanded my sister leave a flat 9 days after she moved in and when she refused they CHANGED LOCKS AND SWITCHED GAS AND ELECTRICITY OFF! Leaving her without food for a whole day, she had to throw away food from the fridge because it would have been unsafe. They swore at her and were very. She was devastated and In tears, she ended up packing her stuff and leaving in the dark, finished moving out at midnight. This is very illegal, and absolutely inhuman...Stay away if you can, advice your friends too, they take advantage of the young people who do not know the law and treat them like rubbish and hope the poor young person will just play along and move on to avoid the stress.....shall I also add that Sam who works there walked in on me NAKED because he walked right in, without knocking and unexpected, completely unprofessional and just very wrong!

Probably THE WORST estate agent in the UK. Poor management as they don’t want to deal with any problems of the property that you rent with them cause they have already got your money.
They charge tenants for no reason even the damages were made by the previous tenants; they will never care if it’s your fault or not even if you have evidence to argue with them.
I had been renting with them for 3 years, I cleaned the flat before moving in but they can still took my deposit for professional cleaning. And the most funniest thing was, the next tenants told me that Moving Places have never sent anyone to clean the flat. The company of cause could not provide the receipt of professional cleaning as a proof. They charged for the things and services that don’t exist.
Then they provided a receipt of the professional cleaning after I moved out a year, but the date on receipt was wrong and I even found that the cleaning company is FAKE!!
Moreover, they didn’t keep my deposit on the Deposit Protection Company, until the day I asked for getting my money back. THIS IS ILLEGAL!!!
I have been speaking to my lawyer to get some legal advice and will take action soon for their inappropriate behaviours.
DON’T BUY OR RENT PROPERTIES WITH THIS COMPANY. ABSOLUTELY SCAMMER.

An agency that is too “busy” to do its own job!!!!!
-Amber was the only one who is good enough to deal with. Since Sam used to get himself involved in everything even though it was amber who we agreed to do our tenancy with and i clearly requested many times that i do not want to deal with sam during my tenancy due to his unprofessional customer service skills.
-Sam has the worst communication skills in the world! He is always loud with a very irrespecutful way of communicating that it got him to hang up the line while me enquiring about my deposit return! Who on earth would do that to a customer? No matter what the situation is anyway!!!
-I was left for 3 days in cold winter with out heating! For him claiming that he is always “busy”. And when he sorts anything out for you he makes you feel that he is doing you a “favor” rather than actually doing his job.
-Emergency maintenance people are never there it would take them forever to arrange anyone for you!
-Also they should be aware that one a tenant is there to take or leave the flat, they should never be left waiting for hours to do so with their belongings left out in the street while they do the financial checks that they should have done before the arrival!! Very unprofessional!
-Overall experience was tiring and i never felt safe during my tenancy period nor since the agreement started.
-Hope that helps future tenants to be aware of, and moving places team themselves if they wish to improve really :/

What a proactive service from Sam Hussain of Moving Places! I called him asking for his help to give me an estimated rent for my Hatfield property in mid-January. While I have been remortgaging it, he has called me asking if I wanted to rent it yet because he had potential tenants looking for a property in my area. I met him for the first time on Saturday 10th February 2018 even though he doesn’t usually work on weekends. He took some photos, put them on Rightmove. Monday 12th Feb he let me know that potential tenants would come to view it on Tuesday 13th Feb. On Wednesday evening, he called me again and said: “ALL DONE! They signed and put deposit already”. He let my property within five days.
If you have a property in Hatfield and surrounding areas and want to sell or let, I hugely recommend you to give him a call, and you will be surprised how fast he can do that for you.

When I first met Kat I was dubious, as she guarantee that she had people on her books wanting to buy a 1 bed flat, as many agents said they had people and offered the world but do not deliver, Kat actually did. From my experience, this is an agency that SHOULD NOT be trusted. During my time renting from them, many issue were occur with them. First and foremost the biggest issue is that they can excess YOUR ROOM whenever they want WITHOUT YOUR PREMISSION OR CONSENT. When your not in, they will unlock your room and explore. There had been rumors saying they went into room while the tenenat were absent to take their valuables like laptops ans etc due to having some disagreement with the tenants. Therefore, ive been taking my valuables with me everywhere I go, EVEN JUST TO ALDI AND ASDA. As for the prices for rent, at first they say it was £500 then they somehow force it and making it £800, this is absolutely obsured. Furthermore, when I wanted to change my room door lock, they said it was £50 at first, then increase to £100 and now £150. The increase is done within a few days. Lastly, they attitude towards the tenants is extremely rude. Although the first meeting and inpression was nice and friendly, but after your their tenant? Nice and friendly dissapear.
This is my experience, im writing this to help you. Whether you believe or not its up to u. From what I know is, they’ve been BUYING 5 stars reviews. Therefore, the decision is for you to decide which is fake and which is real.

Some years ago I bought a house in Hatfield which I rented out to Students. When the time came to sell the property a friend who lived in the area advised me to use the services of Moving Places – a local Estate Agent.
I visited their office and met Beej who introduced me to his assistant Katerina who would oversee the sale. I was impressed by their professional yet friendly manner and signed up with them without hesitation.
As I do not live in the area myself it was left to Kat to meet, greet and show prospective buyers round the property on my behalf. This she did several times – keeping me abreast of developments as and when they occurred.
On one occasion Kat contacted me with an offer from a would-be buyer which I thought was reasonable. When I told Kat that I was prepared to accept this offer she advised me not to do so as she was confident that she could achieve a higher bid given time. This she did and finally closed a deal which was satisfactory to all parties.
Kat worked tirelessly and efficiently from start to finish and the success of the sale was entirely down to her. Many thanks Kat.

I have been dealing with Kat at moving places over the past year while selling multiple properties in Hatfield. From the first day I met Kat she has been professional and honest. Kat always told me the way it was and not what I wanted to hear. Genuinely the worst estate agents I have ever had the misfortune of encountering, if you are looking for student accommodation look elsewhere! They changed out contracts, left us without heating over winter and a broken fridge/freezer for 2 months. I only wish I could give a 0 star review
I think it's fairly telling that every time someone has a complaint against you, it must be their fault... you sound a little bit like Trump going round shouting 'FAKE NEWS' at everyone who disagrees with them.

If I could give this agent zero stars, I would.
Terrible company. The people who have reviewed are affiliated with the company or have obviously been asked to make them look better than they are.
DO NOT USE THEM. They exploit students and they made my second year of university particularly stressful.
They only care about the money. Our terraced property was not even cleaned before we moved in! Our property was also missing vital things such as a fire blanket... slightly illegal don't you think?
If you have any problems don't count on them for anything as they will NOT help you.
We have battled with them to get our deposits back, we were a group of five girls - good tenants. We had to even pay for a cleaning fee, taken off our deposits which was apparently £450 for a small detached house.
I have only just received my deposit back and I am now in final year.
I had thought about taking things further but honestly I'm so glad I never have to deal with these people again.

I needed a place for my nephew who was starting at the nearby University. Unfortunately, his accommodation was unavailable at last minute and we scrambled around to several local lettings agents. We stumbled upon Moving Places and cannot recommend it enough.
All the other agencies gave us generic advice whereas Beach Patel took time to listen and then provide a series of properties immediately. We signed a contract within 4 days. Thank you Beach.
