Dreadful company, think twice before renting from the Flat Agency. The amount of trees cut down for the paperwork at the start was substantial, as was the £2600 deposit, well over two months rent! The flat was very nice though. At the end of the tenancy the flat was cleaned to a good standard. The flat agency claimed there were many reasons for deposit deductions. The deposit was eventually turned to the free adjudication service. The flat agency did not fight the case and the full £2600 deposit was returned TWO MONTHS after the end of the tenancy. Fortunate I could fight the case, yet, others would have to give into this tyrant of a company. The only return customers to the flat agency must be adjudication service and I hope landlord's know how poorly they're being represented!... Read more

I have not dealt with this company, I am looking for accomodation in Portsmouth and as part of my research I look at the company reviews. I find it hilarious and at the same time sad to read the replies from the company to its negative reviews. It would appear that this company is being run by Donald Trump as the replies to negative feedback leads to insults and accusations of ‘false reviews’. I particularly like the post by Gary Penney who apparently is a director, giving himself a five star rating and stating that ‘all the negative reviews are false and unfounded’ Hilarious also how the company tells people to take down negative reviews in order to positively, but falsely promote themselves. Therefore, based on the reviews, but most importantly, based on the rude replies to the less favourable reviews, I don’t think I will be using this company as it appears to be less than professional.... Awful customer service, accepted a £570 holding fee deposit for a two bedroom apartment which was already off the market and didn’t communicate with the landlords. Phoned up to be spoken to by Gary the ‘manager’ who was extremely rude to me (the customer) basically shouting down the phone. To then have to hand over to another colleague, when all I said was I wanted my money back and wanted to go to a different agency. Great managerial skills. Lovely temperament! Just to add I definitely understand the situation, and in what way have I lied, If you want take criticism from a customer what’s the point of having a review. There are plenty of other flats I can go for I just chose not to go through your agency. If you can re-read the first sentence ‘awful customer service’ and I’m talking about a co owner of a business. Maybe you need to take some training from Sara or Harley because they have no trouble talking to customers correctly. Just to prove the audacity and anger you showed, you had to pass the phone on to another colleague because of how angry you became. Quite frankly I think you should leave these situations to the people front of house or just let them deal with it because I wouldn’t wish anyone to be spoken to over the phone or in person the way you did to me.... Terrible from a landlords point of view, really really aweful and I suggest avoiding if you value your investment as TFA will not help you protect it. They do not inspect the property and that negligence cost us in excess of £3,000 in repairs. They then re-marketed the property using the old pictures before the repairs has been completed. Once the repairs had been done we understandably asked for a higher deposit but rather than ask the new prospectives if that was ok they told us no!? We decided from then on that placing adverts online isn't difficult, online credit check service are also simple and cheaper and a contract from WH Smith is perfectly adequate. So if you're a landlord with just one place please don't trust The Flat Agency with your hard earned investment. To be clear this is about The Flat Agency Portsmouth.... Read more

This is my first experience of The Flat Agency and I have found them to be professional and friendly. I’ve dealt with a few letting agents and they were the only ones who gave me a folder of information and I wasn’t in there ages signing the required paperwork on the day I moved, which I’ve experienced previously with others. We are used to review when we are not satisfied with a service provided. However I believe that it is also important to give feedback when everything goes well. The flat Agency has been managing my properties in Fratton for the last 6 years. All this time I have been abroad. Andy, Gary and the team have always done a good job. Not only with the day to day management and solving of problems but also with the turnover of tenants. Communcation has always been good, easy and smooth. I would certainly recommend them.... I would highly recommend The Flat Agency for both rentals and sales. The team are easy to deal with and very professional. I’ve yet to find a problem they can’t handle quickly and efficiently with the minimum of fuss- boiler break downs, bathroom leak, broken window, knackered oven, you name it, they’ll sort it. Recently got their help selling my property, which again was handled brilliantly. Very happy customer, if you’re looking for an agent whether you’re a tenant, landlord or owner give them a call!... I have a small portfolio of tenanted flats and I have used the Flat Agency exclusively since they commenced business many years ago. They manage flats for me, have sold flats for me and find tenants for me. They provide a friendly and efficient service which is competitively priced and they do go the extra mile (not just saying it, they do!). I would not go elsewhere and highly recommend them.... Absolutely disgraceful company. Having rented my apartment through them they have not done the job I contracted them to do. The directors and staff are rude and when I ended my contract with them they intentionally left the apartment unlocked telling me that it was my responsibility to get it locked even though I was six thousand miles away. And I would challenge the director who has given his company five stars and alleges all the negative comments to be untrue underneath to say my comments are untrue. ... Read more
