Unfortunately would not recommend. Bought a shared ownership property & have had no end of stress. As soon as I advised I wasn’t using their in house mortgage advisor, they wanted nothing to do with me - everytime I called for information or questions re the house - they blamed the seller (in some cases slagged her off), or just fobbed me off and never contacted me back. I ended up doing everything with the housing association myself and it took 8 months because of their lack of communication.

HORRIBLE experience. Cancelling our application for a property, with no warnings to avoid it falling through. Giving the property to another applicant a month after we had paid our holding deposit. Now leaving us little time to find a new property to move into.

Never met such an unprofessional one sided agent, rented a property which was dirty, handed it back after a years tenancy cleaner than it was when we moved in, now there holding £1060 and yes you’ve guessed it the cleaning etc comes to £1060 what a coincidence, court proceedings in progress, stay clear of renting, ok if your a landlord an extra months rent for them!!! I rented a small apartment studio back in August 2022. The viewing was organised by Jack Drewitt. Right before we stepped in, Jack apologised for the filthy state of the place left by the previous tenant. I agreed to ignore that and decided to take the apartment thinking it would, obviously, be cleaned up. I was of wrong. Once moved in, I found human hair on the bathroom mirror, grease, spiderwebs. Instead of unpacking, I had to scrub the place down before it became liveable. I took photographs and passed it over to Jack as evidence. It was hard to deny my point, however the agent had no manners to apologise for anything. My emails were getting ignored not only by him, but also another agent called Lauren Sankey. I decided not to sign certain documents before receiving appropriate response - even if it was just an apology. Eventually, Jack emailed me saying ‘what would like me to do? Call the cleaners again?’. That was two weeks after my move in. And again, no apologies, no solution to the issue, and no manners or professionalism. What’s even more outrageous, the landlord and the agency tried to charge me almost £300 for cleaning the place after my move out. Even though I left it much cleaner than what I found on the first day of tenancy. There’s no single penny this agency will ever get from me.

I recently rented my property through Bridgfords and they have been exceptional from the start. I was dubious to start as Aleysha told me my property was worth £300 more than the other agents I had round quoted but she was confident, so I chose her. It was on Rightmove the same day she took photos! I then got a call from Sophia the next day to say they were fully booked with viewings! Kirsty then talked me through the applications and together we chose my tenants. Evan and Leeha have now moved my tenants in. I cannot believe how easy and seamless they’ve done it when other agents made it so complicated and hard work. I’d highly recommend to use Bridgfords to let your property you won’t be disappointed.

Finding a place on your own is quite stressful especially I am not a resident here in the UK but with the help of Jack, he did all the efforts to email and answer all my queries! He went above and beyond to assist me from beginning of my viewing of the flat and to the point where I need to complete all requirements before moving in. When we needed to find new tenants for our property in York we went back to Bridgfords because we'd always been very happy with the service that they had provided in the past. Our initial contact was with Pia, who gave us excellent information and advice on the whole process of reletting our property. Emily and Lauren then took over and were great. They provided a really professional service, always keeping us fully informed of progress and offering lots of really helpful advice. Once our property was ready, Bridgfords found us our new tenants in just a few days. We paid to change the tenancy agreement to reflect my husband to be on the agreement which they never did and lied saying it had been done.
They blamed us for a radiator falling off the wall a week after it had been poorly fitted.
They sent us a tenancy check out before serving us notice and finally when we served counter notice they didn’t contact us at all about our move out.
We had to drop the keys off at the office to where they didn’t say a word and had no idea we were even moving.
Avoid at all costs!!!!

Our family were coming from Hong Kong, arriving York in mid-September. We stayed in an Airbnb apartment and started our search for rental properties in York since late September. Emily Harris and John Newton of Bridgfords helped our family all the way to secure our detached house in a nice area in York. We moved in in mid-October. I was shocked with amazement that we can achieve such tall order in a very short time, given our specific situation. They were both responsive to our request and enquiry as we were new to the market. The exhibited patience but more importantly professionalism. We can contact either one of them and both of them understand our case thoroughly so that we get quick response, even one of them was engaged on the phone. My first experience in renting a property in the UK have been a very positive one, largely in part to the help of Emily and Jack.

Ms Amber Parker was serving me the handover of the keys and the essential documents for me and my son to sign in our new property. She has been so helpful to walk us through the whole process. She showed me around the place for the alarm detectors and confirmed me it has passed he test.
She had been so patient with us as we were late for 45 minutes, partly due to my son suddenly have call to stool and partly to traffic! She's been there to wait for us to get her task completed. If not for that we will be nowhere to stay as our Airbnb lease expired on that day.

Plague and avoid spring to mind... terrible experience using these lot which resulted in moving out much earlier than planned. It got so bad we ended up reporting to the council... they then lied to the council about the rent discounts we received - reported no heating in October and was never fixed when we left in February... a £40 allowance to buy electric heaters (which cost a fortune in bills) was all we received! Also no washing machine for six weeks (£60 discount) and bedroom mold which was never sorted.... while I don't feel the landlord helped... the rudeness of the staff and lack of communication was a joke! For example... when we first moved in I reported the fridge light not working... got a 9am phone call from a woman saying "I'm in my 60s and even I know how to change a bulb", it's not the point, it wasn't working when we moved in! No need to be rude!!
Look elsewhere is my advise.. plenty of decent agencies in York... this is not one.

I could not be happier with the service that we received from Bridgfords York. Relocating 200 miles is not easy at the best of times, but during lockdown it's even more stressful! Thankfully the team at Bridgfords made the whole process easy. From Charly who listened so carefully to what we needed and alerted us to suitable properties as they became available, to Lauren who dealt with all the details of our let, they were superb. Special mention to Lauren at this point who was always on the end of the phone handling with any query that I threw at her with patience and kindness, guiding me through a process that was unfamiliar to me as we have never rented before. She was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I am grateful for her help in securing our new home for us. The logistics of being 200 miles away for the majority of the process was also dealt with very efficiently through a number of digital measures which were easy to navigate.

Selling a property in York following the death of my mother. Bridgfords were a very slick sell to my sister but the reality was far different. House was hugely overvalued and as a result the 'great deal' fixed fee we agreed to was higher in the end than the normal percentage fee would have been on the selling price eventually achieved. This may seem a bit minor but the difference in the valuation and selling price was nearly 28%. The agent dealing with the sale and who did the initial valuation just disappeared and we got no explanation from the branch. The branch manager then visited and revalued the house admitting it was way overpriced. This was always going to be a project house for someone but my sister and I are not property experts so we took him at his word. The house was taken off sale without our approval due to their delay in arranging an EPC. In addition invasive surveys were made without our approval - holes in the walls, ceilings and floors!
We did sell in the end and complained to Bridgfords about the process and costs but they refuse to accept any responsibility and as my sister and I want this done rather than dragging on we decided to move on. We didn't pay the bill at first as we were in dispute but having had the 'brush off' denial response I have now agreed to pay in full as we want the matter closed - ironically I have now called three times and have been unable to pay them the money..... They are at best incompetent

Appaling service from head to toe. Avoid at all costs. Super-expensive, rude behaviour from a few employees, not to mention we almost had to beg to get back our deposit. It took more than two months, and they kept lots of money to cover just some light cleaning, after we left the property almost immaculate. We had no choice but to pay the amount, as we were really needing the sum back. Also, they accused us of being noisy tenants , fact is we were spending 80% of the day out working long hours . Just staying there to eat,sleep and shower. They believed to a neighbour that was literally nuts.Quite disappointed with their service. If i ever go back living in York i will not rent or buy from this agency for sure.

Honestly, I can't praise this establishment highly enough. In may 2019, I enquired about a couple of properties in York and was met by Edward Fisher. Unfortunately, those initial viewings weren't for me, but rather than get impatient or try to persuade me to buy a property that wasn't right for me, Ed went away and kept hunting for places he felt would be ideal for me. It's been a long 9 months but in that time, Ed always answered the phone and showed me houses with a smile and a breadth of knowledge that went above and beyond what I expected, it never felt like 'oh, it's this guy again, time to go through the motions'. Myself and my daughter visited your office on Saturday afternoon. We were greeted in a very pleasant manner and asked to wait for a lettings colleague. Haley greeted us with a smile and made us feel right at home. As we were new to renting we had a lot of questions all of which Haley diligently answered. We had visited various offices that day and our experience with Haley was second to none, even though there was another couple waiting whom she acknowledged and apologised for the wait she never rushed us and we felt she genuinely cared about what we had to say. The team at Bridgfords really pulled it out of the bag for my partner and I; we had looked at a few properties for let in the area by other agents, only to be told that there was already a dozen applications from other people.
Bridgfords put us on an early mailing list and gave us the opportunity for an early viewing. As a result we have snapped up the perfect place and in something of a miracle, they turned around our application within a week and we had the keys in our hand on the following Saturday.

Absolutely appalling treatment towards tenants.both BRIDGSFORD AND COUNTRYWIDE ESTATE AGENCIES. they ripped me off by £105 at the end of tenancy and weren't helpful during the tenancy either. KRISTIAN MCCLORY , GRANT POTTER AND VICTORIA NORTH are a nightmare to deal with and they'll take every opportunity to steal your money. ive been renting in London for 15 years and i've never dealt with such corrupt and unprofessional agents. they make up questionable looking invoices and generally lie about everything. im a reasonable person but what they did was disgusting and everyone should know.

I did look into the dodgy, missing-the-reg. Number invoice, (as you know because your “contractor” called you afterwards i’m sure of it), But unfortunately i didn’t get any information on the invoice or the work that was allegedly done. Instead i got told by the “contractor” that he cannot carry On with the conversation because i was asking too many questions. How is this a professional way of dealing with a customer?? The reason we didn’t take it to court is that no one goes to court for £100 and that’s why you only stole that much, and you damn well know it. You treat hard working tenants in a disgusting way and there is no excuse for that.

After searching online and not making much progress, we went round estate agents in person to see if we had better luck! When we stepped through the door we were welcomed by Charlie she was welcoming, and wasn't fazed by the fact we needed a rented property that would accept a dog. (A lot of other estate agents looked horrfid by this fact!) They actually had a property available, and we were booked in there and then for a viewing.
At our viewing we were met by Kristian he again was welcoming, and very informative. We loved the property and he took us through the process from references, deposits, fees, moving in date was all sorted effortlessly. The whole process was so easy and done for us.
Moving in day came, and again as it had been through this whole process it was easy and all the paperwork was explained and taken through in an easy and painless way. We were moved in before we knew it!
Couldn't recommend them enough, our move was as stress free as a move can be. Would definitely recommend them to people, and would use them again for future moves.

Awful service from Bridgfords. Do not recommend using this service. Relayed information to separate tenants and their parents over phone calls about other tenants. Called a liar numerous times over the phone over information we did not know about. Tenants had to find out from other tenants information that was crucial for the moving in process instead of contacting the person required. Failed to inform us of what we needed to do and then when the landlord needed our documents etc (which we thought was dealt with), they panicked and blamed us for not doing what was required when it was their job to do so and had not even mentioned anything of the sorts. Spoke to us like children as we are students and tried to blame us and make us look like a liability. Was told the landlord would rather stop our process and re-market the house as we had to wait an extra day to sign a document however, this was not the case when we spoke to him and this would not make sense as the re-marketing of the house would take a lot longer than one extra day. Once we signed the final documents and got the keys, Bridgfords did not want anything to do with us and told us to speak to our landlord over issues we had with them. We were told prior to even signing the first documents that an inventory of issues would be filed and completed before move in day however, upon moving in no issues were dealt with and the landlord had not even been made aware of them. Tenants keys were locked in the house by Bridgfords so when tenants drove 3 hours to the house they were unable to get in.

Extremely slow to get anything done that doesn't involve you paying them. It seems like their agents have to consult with 3 different departments for every request. Reported a broken hob the day we moved in, 3 years later we moved out with nothing done about it, despite them sending an electrician around to confirm and reporting it on every inspection. Still waiting on money owed (overpaid rent and deposit) for no clear reason.
Staff are nice enough, so an extra star, as they are just doing their jobs, but someone needs to be cracking the whip a bit more I feel.

Responsive, amenable, well connected with a great tenant find service that makes it much more likely to find the right people. Photos taken of the property were first class as was the marketing, inventory and general interaction on maintenance issues during the tenancy. Only downside is the "head office" factor where occasionally people from 'countrywide' the parent company step in at unwanted moments in uncoordinated ways on matters like signing forms, imposing conditions or being generally uninformed but the process is open to dialogue so each time this has happened we have always found a solution.

Absolutely dreadful. Took all of my deposit unfairly - over £1000 GBP. Included trying to charge me over £200 for a scratched kitchen drawer. I tried to negotiated, got the cost down, they introduced an invented cost of a damaged carpet. This was a lie and I can prove it through the inventory check we did when we moved out. I had to pay in the end as they were threatening me with court action while living abroad.
Worst estate agent I have ever used (I've used approximately 12. 3 of which were in York).
Their complaints policy is a joke too.

Bridgfords have been most helpful with our move and flexible when myself and my housemates couldn't move in on the same date. Their fix flo website for managed properties makes reporting minor fixes and odd jobs really easy and they've been great at communicating some of our requests to our landlords.
There were only odd occasions where they were slightly lacking - like their general inaction when one of the keys we were given didn't fit the door so we had to leave the door unlocked all day (fortunately we're in a secure building so everything was fine).
So far so good and we've been in or property for about 2 months and will probably renew our contract come next November!

We were going to give our previous property management company the opportunity to find us a new flat in York, despite many disappointments with their service. We had found a couple of properties on their website, but when we went in to find out more, we were greeted with "How can I help?" from the man in the front and received a terse "Gone: come back on the first" when we asked. He didn't look up from his computer screen during the time that we were there.
We then went to Brigfords with a couple of their posted properties. We were greeting by Kristian, who looked up and offered us a seat. We asked about the properties that we had found and he apologized when he said that they were gone. However, he then pulled out a notepad and asked us what we were looking for in a flat. He took detailed notes as we described our ideal flat, and then he asked if we would be available on the first of the month. My wife was available on that day and we agreed to meet.
He called my wife on the first and then took the day to show us the properties that met our criteria. I was able to join them after work to have a look at a flat (he "saved the best for last") which we fell in love with. Completing the deal and the corresponding reference check and paperwork was effortless; they guided us through the paperwork and agreements in detail. They even arranged for us to meet the flat owner. Once we moved in, there were a couple of minor issues with the flat, but these were handled quickly and efficiently by Bridgfords.
Throughout, we found that Bridgfords, especially Kristian and Jennifer were amazing: professional, courteous, friendly, patient, and pro-active. What's more, they don't have the "we're doing you a favour" attitude that some letting agents (especially the one that we had dealt with previously) have. We were allowed instead to focus on our excitement of moving into a great flat and our confidence that they were interested in doing things right.
We don't plan to move again soon, but if we need another flat, we will definitely deal with Bridgfords in York again.

Outstanding service especially from Kristian, I needed to find another place to live in a very short time frame and Bridgfords were an enormous help in getting everything sorted as soon as possible for me to move in a matter of weeks, and also always checking in and asking if there is anything I need and always being helpful with referencing and documentation and keeping me updated about the property.

We had an ambitious plan to market, sell, buy and move house within 4 months. We looked online at all EAs in York, and quickly realised that Bridgfords had a lot more properties like ours for sale than any other. We visited Bridgfords in York, and David Ridgeway there gave us a huge amount of confidence that the ambition was realistic and achievable, mainly due to the high demand for the type of property we were selling. David rapidly got the information together, used his top photographer, and very shortly the property was on the market. David told us the odds of it selling at the price we wanted, and I am very happy to say that he was absolutely right - one week after going live online Bridgefords held an open day and the property sold two days later to a very high quality buyer.
In the meantime we were asked if we would consider using Bridgfords for mortgage advice. I have always been wary of being ushered in to such agreements, so made sure that we shopped around and did our homework. We did go with Bridgfords, and Clare Tumber was fantastic. Again, a delightful situation where everything Clare said came to be. Our mortgage for our forward move was approved first time without any hassle.
Allie Cook at Bridgfords took care of communications with our buyer, and was always extremely polite, friendly and genuine. She was also an extremely good communicator. I always felt in safe hands knowing that Allie was the contact for our buyer.
All in all, our ambitious plan happened exactly how we imagined it. It is not possible for there to be a better service than Bridgfords as it was perfect throughout. Everything they said came true, their advice was very well balanced, and they were always always courteous. It was not a stressful experience. Highly recommended.
It was important to us that this move was handled professionally and with as little stress as possible, and myself, my partner and little boy are all very happily moved into our great new home, mainly due to Bridgford's fantastic staff. Where's the option for 6 out of 5? :)

Been trying to contact bridgfords letting for over 24 hrs ( including leaving messages on the automated answering service but no one bothers to call back or reply to rightmove email enquiries) finally got through by calling direct lettings number I found on Internet, the property I was interested in had old photos re published and this has happened before with another house we were interested in. The photos were about 8 years old and totally differently to the house we viewed. I find that lazy and deceptive.
Enough said ( especially when you have took time out to drive out to a property to view disapounting) )

Bridgfords York has been the worst experience for us. So many problems after renting that started in September 2014. Whenever there was some issues to be addressed in the property regarding repair and maintenance, we needed to call them many times and despite that they haven't addressed the concern. Most of the time, we needed to go to their office to get our problems listened. The pain is continuing even after vacating the property as they are not releasing our deposit. After the checkout, they sent an email to confirm the deductions and said the money will reach my account in 3-5 days, but nothing has happened even after 20 days despite calling them many times. Now, they ask us to write emails to them to release the deposit. I don't know what they were doing so far. Never seen such unprofessional and inefficient behaviour. I hope I will get my deposit back or I will need to settle this via court.

We can't fault the service that we have received from Bridgfords so far, in comparison to two other local estate agents that we have been in touch with. Having dealt with Ellaina, we have found her to be extremely approachable and nothing seems like too much trouble and she has always been happy to answer any of our questions. Following this we have now requested a valuation of our property and we look forward to dealing with her. Even though we are still undecided on our future plans, should we look to sell our home we have no doubt that we would be more than happy to use Ellaina/Bridgfords.

We have recently vacated one of Bridgfords rental properties in York.
We lived there very happily for the past 3 years and only moved when the property was put up for sale.
I would like to commend the rental staff in the York office especially Vicki North.
We have been extremely well managed and look after by Vicki who dealt with our initial enquiry of the property back in 2010 right through the whole of our tenancy.
Nothing was too much trouble for her and she always attended to any problems or concerns we had.
Whenever Vicki was not available other members the staff were always available to help. Sally been particularly helpful.
We would have liked to rent through Vicki again if they had a similar property.
I would not hesitate to recommend Vicki and the York staff again to anybody.

Everyone in the team at Bridgfords York was really helpful, both on the selling side and the lettings side. We had ad a very good experience over several years letting our York property through Bridgfords. They could not have been more caring in looking after our interests and making sure that the tenant was happy.
When it came to selling the property, everything was handled smoothly, from first steps in marketing to the final sale. . Communications were good at all points in the procedure, so that both sides knew exactly what was happening and what was required.

Throughout my tenancy I felt Bridgfords of York consistently fell below minimum standards I expect from a letting agency. In my opinion their communication was poor/inconsistent and were slow to respond to problems.
After an astonishing 80 days after vacating a rented property, I have still to receive my deposit back, despite agreeing to proposed deductions. I have had no response in over four weeks to my many, many attempts get my deposit back, and have had no choice but to start a formal dispute, at extra resource costs to both parties. I think it is highly unacceptable and irresponsible of bridgfords to hold money to the point where their tenants have to resort to this measure.
I would not use again, and would not recommend this company to anyone I know.
