they've made an absolute mockery of me and my family. i went for a viewing once and they couldn't even call to cancel, and went the second time after promising me that i would be the first to view the property and they were 20 minutes late and didn't even show me the right property they offered, without even telling me again that the flat i wanted was gone. they've wasted me time twice and didn't even have the decency to explain.... THE WORST EXPERIENCE, STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!
We are not satisfied about the current situation of both the property itself and fob/key issues. Reminded that it has already been 7 days of our tenancy and we are both still not able to move in, as principal and our previous experiences, everything should be ready for moving in on or before the day of tenancy start, we are doubtful to if anything was ready in the first place at all. We still only have one working house key and only one fob, when it is explicitly advertised that it is a 2 bedroom property. Out of these issues, we have both contacted personnel that should be responsible, yet the branch manager has verbally addressed us saying that we can just copy the keys ourselves, "it costs two quid.", which is unheard of from both our experiences. Copying keys ourselves touches on major legal issues which we do not want to be involved in, plus it should not be our job in the first place at all since we are the customers it should never be our responsibility. Also cutting keys are never only 'two quid' as mentioned by the branch manager, it is evident that we have been brushed off when we requested help. We were given a lot of keys and have been told to try them all out as some work some don't, which turns out only one house key works out of the whole stack, and we have only given one fob. Wasn't it the landlord or agency's responsibility to make sure every key is ready instead of us? Like we have addressed, everything should be ready on or before our tenancy started, not having to fix it ourselves when we are the ones who are using this company's service.
Then comes the cleanliness and the state of the property, we are deeply frustrated to say the least. We have been brushed off once again by the branch manager and told us that the property has been "professionally cleaned" and was "very expensive". We are still questioning if it was cleaned at all in the first place and if money was spent at all on cleaning since we have both been to the flat and the flat is not suitable for us to move in due to the nonexistent cleanliness. We have taken photo evidence of the state we have found the flat in on the day of our tenancy starts, again everything should be ready prior to moving in but clearly not.
We SHOULD NOT be dealing with these issues as everything should have been prepared for new tenants. Remind you the flat is still not in a sustainable living condition for us to move in when it should've been so. We also feel the lack of respect alongside nonexistent professionalism from the team, as most of the major issues that shouldn't have been ours are brushed off to the maintenance when we are requesting the bare minimum of service, we feel it is exploitative of the team since they assume us to be naive foreigners.... Would leave 0 stars if I could. There have been many horrendous issues with Bridgfords. The property me and my housemate are renting from Bridgfords was advertised as a 2 bedroom flat.
However, they only gave us one working key and one fob to enter the building. They said they would 'speak to the landlord' about the fob. It is currently day 3 since the tenancy started and we still have not been given a fob. On the 29th of May, me and my housemate went back the agency and the branch manager told us to duplicate the key. When I asked if we could be compensated (since it is not our job to be doing this, all keys should have been prepared for us the day we moved in), she responded with 'it costs 2 quid'. It is not about the price but a matter of principle and professionalism. It is not me and my housemate's job to duplicate the key and it is unfair for us to pay for it. Also, it is about to be day 4 tomorrow and we still only have one fob.
Additionally, when we saw the house, it was extremely dirty. There were cobwebs everywhere, it was dusty, there was rotting food under the oven, in one of the rooms the previous tenant even left their mouth retainers in one of the cupboards. There was mould on some of the windows, there was a mouldy cup left behind in the bathroom, the freezer was full of black mould on the silicone bit. The bins had rubbish from the previous tenant left in them and was FULL OF MOULD. The branch manager insisted it was professionally cleaned but I am not sure as to what exactly they were cleaning.
It is extremely unacceptable for me and my housemate to be expected to just share a fob and a key and move into an extremely dirty house that was 'professionally cleaned'.
