Went here for a free open day to see the lambs with my family and had a really enjoyable time. There was a great big park, fields to roam in and walk around the outside of the home, a pond at the bottom, fresh eggs for sale, a cafe , a shop, outdoor activities for everyone. It was really fun. A really lovely place to visit, incredibly friendly staff, and an amazing adventure playground. Basically, as soon as we left our nine year old spent every minute badgering us to go back - and we did. The stately home is beautiful from the outside (we didn't go in), and the grounds are so tranquil and serene.
We paid for entry once and that gave us a season pass, so our second visit was free. The children spent a long time in the playground, but we also took the lovely walk around the Upper Loch, found giant faces in the woods, surprise alpacas waiting to be taken for a walk, and bees in trees. Also, the ice cream was delightful.... Read more

An excellent place to take the kids to play in the adventure playground or wander through the woods. For adults,(apart from supervision of children on the AP, there's the museum of sorts, a Victorian Kitchen and there is a beautiful lake you can take a walk round. Could be cycled round . I highly recommend Bowhill House, a great day out, I take my kids a few times over the Summer has holidays.... Read more

I live near Bowhill and have been going there since I was in primary school.
There are some lovely woodland walks for those who fancy a nice quiet wander around the lake. For the kids, there's an adventure playground, and also an indoor soft play area. There are various activities organised at different times of the year too, these are worth looking out for.
All in all, a good family day out.... Read more

This cost us less than we expected based on the website prices. I assume this is because the advertised prices include access to the house which was closed when we visited in February. Unlimited access to grounds and play park was just over £20 for 2 adults and 3 children. We are able to return as often as we like until September.
Car parking is free and there were lots of spaces available.
Once inside we followed one of the shorter walks around the two lochs (leaflets on the walks are available from the gift shop). There was plenty of wildlife and things to explore on the way around which kept the kids interested.
Finally, the play area is excellent and there seems to be something for all ages. It's just a short walk from the entrance and car park which is where all the walks start from. There is a cafe a cafe available but we didn't use it so I can't comment on that.
In summary, we had a great day with three kids aged 10 - 14 and we will definitely be returning again to use the play park and explore some of the other walks.... Read more

We visited Bowhill gardens and outdoor play area with our grandchildren. We managed to find a free table at the play area where we enjoyed our picnic and the children had a good time playing. We then decided to take the 2 mile walk to Newark Castle. It was a very hot day and we eventually completed the walk which turned out to be 3 miles long. After a cup of tea at the cafe and a long cold drink for the 9 and 11 year old grandchildren we recovered! A good but slightly exhausting day.... Read more
