I found this branch to be unprofessional. I put an offer in on a house and they kept pushing me for more money saying that the other buyer offer they received wasn’t verified. They then booked me for a second viewing and didn’t bother calling me back to say they had sold it to the other buyer. They also forced me to go into the branch to do financial verification when I told them it would be a waste of my time as I could not offer any higher (resulting in me having to take my newborn with me which was just really inconsiderate.... AVOID! Under no circumstances use Connells Filton to move. • The Residential Consultancy, an independent home survey company commented that Connells as a company have a good reputation, just not the Filton branch – reportedly being very disorganised. • The Solicitors recommended by Connells – Talbots Law, a Solicitors in North Yorkshire, miss spelt the word “Flat”. This is highly concerning given their fee of £2200. • Payment of £425 made 28/02/22 and confirmation requested. After hassling Talbots, confirmation received 07/03/22 – over a week later. • 26/02/22 called the Filton Branch requesting an update (due to all emails being completely ignored). When I called, I was told that someone would call me back “…in a few minutes…”. One hour later, nothing. When I called a second time, I was told that you would get back to me in “…approximately 25 minutes”. After I called a third time, I was told you would be “…about another half hour, perhaps less”. This call never materialised. • I emailed to request a viewing of the property I am buying on 26/04/22: “Hi Geoff, Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible to book another viewing on Saturday with Hugh? Kind regards....” As is typical with Connells, this was ignored – I received no calls or emails back, and still have not. • To give context to the utter incompetence and lack of communication I have received from Connells Filton branch I submitted my offer in writing 27/01/22. The move took 6.5 months. That was with no chain whatsoever, first time buyer, and no issues with surveys. • At one stage in the process, I was visiting the branch in person, every week. This was entirely because emails and calls were either unanswered, or answered with a two week response time. • Communication from Geoff (ironically the Branch Manager) was so poor that I arranged to view my property a third time. I didn’t want to view the property, or check anything – I just wanted to speak to someone at Connells – surely this lack of communication isn’t normal? • The seller of the property pulled out listing “…my estate agents…” as the reason. The seller commented how he tried to call the branch: “…over forty times this morning” with no response. • Connells broke an agreement in writing – that my property would be cleared on sale. This didn’t happen. In summary, my move with Connells, which had no onward chain, where all requested documents were sent the same day by myself, took over 6.5 months.... Read more

I used this branch of Connells to let a flat and would never use them again and further more wouldn’t recommend anyone looking to find a place to rent to use them.My lovely tenants tried for over a week to call them to get their deposit refunded and no one ever answered the phone I also tried with out any success.I had to ring a branch of Connells in Kent to get help .Poor service and not much help after a complaint through Resolver to their head office.AVOID -1/10 We’ll today the 11th February 2022 some 3 months after my tenants vacated my property they still haven’t got their deposit back ,I am absolutely discussed with CONNELLS ESTATE AGENTS AND IN PARTICULAR THE FILTON BRISTOL BRANCH WHO ARE THE OUTFIT THAT WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTRACT AND LETTING OF MY FLAT .I phoned and spoke with the manger a mr Jeff Burrows but he said he couldn’t help even though he’s the manager (that should tell you everything you need to know about this dreadful outfit of so called letting agents.Three months ago I was in contact with the head office and dealt with Manager Emma Bricusse,manger Joanne Wong,and the regional manger MARK BURGESS .Who assured me the matter of the deposit would be sorted,well three months later and I am still being contacted by dissatisfied tenants because this bunch of cowboys haven’t returned their deposit.Bering that it mind my advice based on my personal experience is tenants and landlords AVOID AVOID AVOID THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY.THEY ARE IN MY OPINION RANK AMATEURS.... Absolutely terrible experience, by far the worst customer service I have ever come across in any sector. It is a wonder this business is still able to function as a lettings agency. The property we let through Connells is in a wonderful location and the landlord has kept the property to a nice standard, but unfortunately Connells is doing the landlord and the property a disservice with their poor communication, zero sense of urgency, and simple lack of any customer facing skill set. A leaky tap was reported at the property in Janueary prior to us even moving into the property. It is now March and the problem is still not resolved. Also, a faulty fire alarm/carbon monoxide detector was reported a month ago and I was ensured this would be dealt with as a matter of urgency since it jeopardizes our safety and puts us at risk. Not to mention I’m sure this would compromise the properties insurance, but here we are a month down the road and nothing, not even a follow up. Many other matters were meant to be dealt with that I won’t mention in detail as they don’t particularly bother me, but these were maintenance issues that were meant to be fixed or resolved prior to us moving in and nothing has been completed. Lawn Care, Cleaning, etc... again a major disservice to the landlord and an inconvenience to us the tenants. Please note, I have missed work on multiple occasions to be at the property while various these works or quotes were meant to take place and no one showed up. Actually one time a contractor did show up but the brief she received was not complete and the scope of what was to be done was outside of her companies capacity... so a waste of not only her time, but of ours as well. Still don’t have a full second set of keys as was requested... so unfortunately only one of us has the privilege of entering through the back door of the property. I guess that is better than the first two weeks where we had to survive with just one set though. Connells truly needs to take a lesson in customer service. I personally will never do business with them again, and will be sure t steer others away from making the same mistake we did in letting a property through them. Seems from the reviews that they might put in a little more effort when it comes to property sales, but personally I’m not going to risk it. Poor customer service - been in the process of moving to a new rental property and the letting agent has been dire in terms of making sure we are happy and giving us the correct info. Telling us that they won’t be there to pick up keys for the house after hiring a van and we were half way across the country was ridiculous, even after agreeing the time and day earlier that week. They reluctantly agreed to sacrifice their short Saturday to stay late for us... 1 star performance. Having random contractors ringing up about work needed done to the house with out any contact from Connells - we thought it was a scam but nope it was just Connells not informing us. I complained and get a right cheeky email back as well - I had to challenge there processes and questioned there contract obligations before getting the info I needed...1 star performance. Ridiculously drawn out process which gave me no guarantee whatsoever. We chased Connells on our rented property which we put a £300 holding fee for on the day of viewing. We got everything they needed ASAP and they showed us no respect and total disregard despite the fact we were paying them so much money. We didn't get the contract until 5pm on a Friday when moving in on the Sunday. Up until that point they would not give a definite answer of what was going on and no guarantee that we would be moving in on the agreed date. We chased up daily for a month which did not speed the process up at all. Would not recommend whatsoever.... Read more

PART 2 OF MY COMPLAINT - NEVER USE CONNELLS "Upon arriving at the property on Saturday 3rd of December we noticed multiple issues; there was clear evidence that someone had tried to force entry to the front of the property with a crowbar, damaging the front door and ripping the letterbox off. We found that none of the windows were locked (especially concerning is the French windows on the first floor as there is a wall that can easily be scaled to gain access). We were not provided with keys for the windows and French doors, meaning that the property doesn't feel safe. It is now the 30th of December and we have still not received any keys. Additionally we discovered that the back door had previously been broken into and replaced with a very thin panel of wood; broken glass and sawdust had been left in the kitchen/garden from when repairs were conducted. On the 6th of December we received email correspondence from Shreen stating that we were allowed to move into the property despite electrical work not being conducted. When the electrician came on the 9th he had not been properly informed of the work he needed to do and had not been provided relevant job numbers. Subsequently he was only allowed to change the circuit board and connect the washing machine (which we had been unable to use). When I spoke to the electrician on the 16th he confirmed that he had told Connells about the additional electrical works that needed to be done, but that he had not been contacted since with a job number and so could not come to finish the work. Transformers needed to be fitted so that the only shower room in the property can be used safely; and since this has still not been done we are currently having to shower with a torch propped against the wall. An inventory was conducted on the 12th of December, a week after we moved in. We were informed by the third party conducting the inventory that this is highly unusual and that he would have to be as impartial as possible with the damage to the property. He insinuated that some of the marks on the property could not be commented on because we had been living there a few days; it is completely unacceptable to allow us move into a damaged and filthy property, only to then try and make us potentially liable for this because Connells has failed to organise an inventory in better time. We have since been asked to sign multiple new tenancy agreements, all of which we have refused to sign because they are dated the 3rd of December – when we paid the fees. None of us were willing to sign the tenancy as the essential electrical works were not conducted until the 9th (most of it still hasn’t been after a month of living here). Shreen has informed me that we were liable from the date we paid the fees and so they will not be giving us a grace-period regarding rent. We feel that the correspondence between us and Connells has been inadequately slow and minimal. When these maintenance issues were brought up at the very start of the tenancy, we were told that they couldn’t be handled at the same time as the electrical works – this is highly incompetent as many of the security issues raised were just as, if not more, important than the electrical work. We have paid a lot of money in agency fees, and we feel that a better level of service is required. It is your responsibility to make sure that the properties you let are safe for prospective tenants and we do not feel that this has been met in our situation. Whenever we raise the issue of not feeling safe in the property as many of the windows are not locked and the French doors are easily accessible, our requests are only answered with emails asking us to sign up to contents insurance with Connells, as opposed to actual solutions to the issues we are having. I feel it is important to address just how much disruption and stress Connells have caused us; although these issues may only affect the staff during office hours, I can assure you that this has been something that has impacted all of us continuously since we moved into Beatrix Place. I would highly recommend NEVER USING CONNELLS ESTATE AGENTS EVER IN YOUR LIFE!!! Seriously unless you plan on getting absolute shafted throughout your whole tenancy, do not even consider dealing with these low life scum. The branch in Filton moved us into an unfinished property, doing the bare minimum they could to make it actually safe for us to live in. They refused to let us move in for the first 5 days because the electrics were unsafe and then STILL TRIED TO CHARGE US RENT. We had multiple people turning up to the property, accusing us of squatting because connells had apparently done some dodgy side deal and poached it from the market - even the landlord was apparently unaware we were living in the property at the start (SHADY AF). Despite reporting multiple issues with the property throughout the start of the tenancy, no action was taken and after 4 months into a 12 month contract, despite raising multiple complaints, we were handed an eviction notice saying the landlord was selling the house based on some dodgy get out clause. We later found out that the property had been FOR SALE since before we had moved in, so connells had basically failed to disclose that VITAL PEICE OF INFORMATION to us. So basically connells go laughing to the bank with their agency fees. Special shouts to Shreen Simmonds & Jessica Zammit-Haber for making our lives a living hell. BELOW IS MY COMPLAINT LETTER To Whom It May Concern, We are writing to complain about the manner in which our tenancy has been managed. We initially signed a contract dated the 30th November 2016 soon after paying the holding deposit, and received correspondence that we were not allowed to move into the property because an electrical fault had been detected that meant the property was not safe to live in (please see attached correspondence). The move was pushed back to the 1st and then further delayed until the 3rd of December when we came into the office to pay the fees in full. This caused massive disruption to our lives; everyone had booked time off work to move, transport had been organised to move our belongings, and our previous tenancies were due to run out on the 8th which caused us a great amount of stress. The property had been taken on by Connells in plenty of time for these checks to have been conducted before we were told we could move in. We were then told that we could only move our belongings into the property as it was not electrically safe, and we all signed to confirm that we agreed to this on the 3rd of December after paying the remaining fees in full. Shreen Simmonds informed us that the electrical work would be conducted early the following week; however an electrician did not visit the property until the 9th of December. We were only handed a single set of keys between 4 tenants, after just signing a contract stating we were not allowed to make copies of any of the keys ourselves, as this is managed by Connells. We were instructed by Shreen a few days later that we would have to cut the keys ourselves. Additionally we were not provided with any information packs about the property i.e. containing certificates for gas safety, Energy performance certificate, 5 year annual electrical certificate, Gas test, boiler and cooker test cert., Smoke alarm certificate annual test, manuals for thermostat etc. PART 1/2... This branch is possibly the worst i have come across, they ring us up chasing a market lead, which they let us down when getting a probate valuation for my father-in-laws estate with a view to sell. 5 months later my mother-in-law died, so after being chased by them, we made an appointment for a viewing & this time no phone call or text or anything just didn't turn up! 100 mile round trip for nothing!!( this was their Manager we were meeting Patty) They not worth wasting your time with, live is just to short!!... I have had countless problems with the letting team. They don't listen or return calls and still almost 7 months into the let we have had no update reference the inspection of our property despite countless requests. The manager spoke to me like a gang member on the phone and told me to 'do what I like' when I told him I would report him. Total shambles now on our 8th appointed person, seems like everyone moves on, gets bored or sacked and then you get another incompetent unqualified or simply 'not bothered' person dealing with your propert.
