Avoid. Believe it or not, I am a Landlord complaining about Druce's treatment of our tenants ! Throughout the years we have encountered nothing but problems with Druce. They have very high turnover, have resorted to using recruiting companies to replace all the employees that are leaving. We have had countless Property Managers ( if you can call them that ). On occasion we complained to Neil McGimpsey the UK MD and Neal Verman who is the Chief Legal Compliance officer. and Rob Swann , Area Director, (Chelsea Office). I can only say that complaining to them is like to complaining to a brick wall. They could care less.
On this occasion our former tenants vacated the property and left it in good condition. On Thursday the 6th of September at 8.30 Druce was instructed by us to issue a 100% refund immediately. On the 24th of September our tenant wrote me an urgent note stating that they had still not received their deposit. We have issued a complaint to the Property Ombudsman regarding other financial impropieties which are currently being investigated. we immediately wrote to the Property Ombudsman, the MD of Druce, office of Fair Trading Standards and a few more. That got their attention as they IMMEDIATELY informed me that it was a Sort Code Issue and they would make the payment today. ( Odd that it took them 17 days to resolve a sort code issue???? Hmmmm....I'm sure they were telling me the truth.)
So if you are a tenant, be very careful who you give your deposit to. I would suggest someone other than Druce. Of course it's your choice.... Read more

Stay well away.
They will tell you that they have set the highest standards and that customer service is vital to them. Remember, WORDS ARE CHEAP. It is actions not words that count.
Here is what my departing tenant had to say about their high standards "I went round myself after the professional clean and again on the last day this monday to check all was in place and nothing was forgotten. Incidentally we have had to get the professional cleaners (the ones recommended by Druce) to come back this week as despite paying over £400 they didn't even wipe down surfaces, hoover or sweep the floors..." Druce's inept management will of course reflect poorly on the Landlord in the eyes of the tenant.
Rob Swann , is the manager of this office and may I say that I find his ethics to be questionable.
THE FACTS :
On May 20th, an employee , Emil Dimitrov called me and told me that Druce was going to start withholding base rate tax for all Overseas Landlords.
I told him that Druce had been doing this since 2012, so why was he calling me? "Öh! Its just a courtesy call "he said. Suspicious, ( you have to be when dealing with Druce), I asked Emil to follow up in writing. His email said that they were going to start charging Overseas Landlords a WITHHOLDING FEE of £600.00 per annum. THIS WAS NOT MENTIONED IN HIS CALL.
When asked "why", he had failed to mention the fee, he didn't respond. I call this being"DRUCED".
To DRUCE a person: .."to totally ignore awkward questions posed by your customers". This skill has been perfected at all levels of the organisation. From the Managing Director to the property manager.
I told him very clearly that Druce was to continue to honour our Agreement and was not to charge me any withholding fee. Further, my contract clearly and INARGUABLY states that no increase in fees can be instituted without a 90 day notification period.
He responded that it was necessary to charge for this service as it took 1/2 hour every quarter to fill in the form! (That works out to £300.00 per hour!!)
Again, I sent him an email and told him not to charge me.
HE NEVER RESPONDED. "DRUCED " again!
When they don't know what to do they just don't respond.
In June I received my statement.
THEY HAD CHARGED ME AND THEY HAD CHARGED ME RETROACTIVELY......AND.......THEY HAD RETROACTIVELY CHARGED ME TO THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR....AND....INSTEAD OF £300 per hour.....they charged me a WHOPPING £720.00 per hour. Evidently form filling is now on a par with Brain Surgery!
This action is in violation of the Code of Practice for Residential Estate Agents:
"11d By law you must not deduct any cost or charges from ANY clients money you hold, unless your client has given you written authority to do so."
I called for his boss Maria Fernandes who never replied. "DRUCED" again!
Maria's boss, Rob Swann, sent me a ridiculous and very poorly written email. It was like a child trying to sound grown-up. He said it was a miscommunication and a confusion but that he would have his people reverse the charge. No apology for the wilful and underhanded actions of Ms. Fernandes and Mr. Dimitrov. No acknowledgement that Druce had violated the law. BUT he had the ---- to offer to sell my house if ever I decided to do so! Seriously.
I replied to "Rob" and said there was NO miscommunication or confusion and that I expected an apology from both individuals. NO RESPONSE...."DRUCED" again!
I waited a week or so and then reached out to his boss, Chief Compliance Officer, Neal Verman, who also has a credibility issue from his past as HR Manager at Chesterton's .
Neal responded that he knew these people and he considered them to be courteous and professional. He said that the £100.00 (i)had been credited and offered NO APOLOGY or explanation as to why they had acted in complete violation of the Code of Practice. He avoided the awkward question. DRUCED again!
(i)NEWS BULLETIN Mr. Chief Compliance Officer, it was £360.00 that was overcharged. He evidently had not done his homework.
I challenged his statement........"DRUCED" again.... Read more
