I’ve never been treated with such disrespect in 25 years renting across the world. 7 years in the same house. Paying each month. Maintaining the house. They wanted to increase 26% the rent. We said it was too much to have a conversation. They send us notice to leave while repairs were on hold for over a year…
They came to talk to us to “mediate” between us and landlords but they did nothing to protect us and our little ones but only do what landlords requested even though it was unmoral (like delaying our deposit and refuse to pay the bill for a pest control issue due to the foundations of the house).
Luckily the Deposit protection exists for a reason. And they had to return our deposit.
Last… they claimed us stuff that they own builder did…
Again… I’ve never felt as insulted in my life…

My neighbour who is tenant through JNP, has still not had his fence repaired after almost 4 months and we’re both unable to use our garden without privacy. After several emails and waiting for long periods of time for a response I’m at my breaking point. Terrible from JNP and the landlord for not getting this resolved as it’s two days work at most. Unacceptable and no excuse.

One of the worst agents to deal with as a tenant. My deposit and over paid rent is stuck with them for week now and they still not able to clear it. Have to chase them every time with False promises. Cheap agencies are not always the best , so do avoid if possible.

We have been renting a property from Hydegate Estates for a few years and in this time, we have always found Hydegate to be very professional and always quickly respond to any of our questions or issues we have reported. Any issues have always been dealt with very quickly and efficiently. For example, we recently asked a question find out if it would be possible for us to have some chickens in our garden. Our wish was resolved in a day! We now have some chickens!

I think I have now found my family home however sadly not through Hydegate :( I would’ve loved to have found my family home through Mitchell Desborough as he was brilliant with my viewing and offer even though it was refused in favour of another family. One of my first viewings was with Mitchell and he really set the bar high for communication and integrity. He called when he said he would, he returned calls within minutes when I had more questions, he replied to emails when he said he would. I actually felt like I wasn’t a number, definitely a client. Naively I thought all estate agents were like this.....they aren’t.
They really aren’t.
If I had time on my side then I would 100% wait for a property to become available with Hydegate so I could work with them.

My husband and I rented through Hydegate, with the help of Michael we were found a great property. I was really impressed with the service and attentiveness from Hydegate throughout our tenancy. Having rented multiple times before it wasn’t something I had experienced to this standard. The minor issues we had were dealt with really quickly by Sara and nothing seemed too much trouble. As landlords we have been using Hydegate Estates to find tenants for us for over 15 years. Right from the off we were impressed with the efficiency, knowledge and professionalism of the Hydegates team throughout the whole process. From our perspective this has meant that we have had suitable tenants for our properties and, from the tenants perspective, they can feel confident that all the necessary legal requirements/safety checks and certificates are in place. This continues throughout the tenancy when we know we can rely on Sally Simmons (admin) for support and to "check in" with us that all necessary checks are up to date and paperwork in place. Thanks Sally, it's comforting to have you there as a safety net!
Although, due to us bring in close proximity, we manage the properties ourselves, we have always felt able to call on Hydegates for advice if we have any concerns and to advise us of any changes in regulation within the industry we need to be aware of. We would have no problem with asking them to manage the properties in the future should circumstances require it.
More recently we have had dealings with Hydegates during Covid 19 lockdown & easing, when 2 properties needed to be re-let. As soon as was possible, and in keeping with Covid restrictions, they marketed and found new tenants, with Michael Barrett (Lettings Manager) & Mitchell Desborough (Lettings) being our main points of contact in viewings, documentation and check-in. Again, despite these difficult times, this was achieved to their usual high standard. Thank you.

I met Eddie at the property. Michael gave me a good description of him. He was young, eager and helpful. He obviously cared about doing a good job which he did in spades!

I did a online enquire through the right move website regarding a house which is up and let by Hydegate, I have heard nothing back at all and I know they got the enquirey as I had email confirmation.
My fiancé called up about the same property to be told it had already gone however is still active on right move, he was informed that Hydegate had another property coming up shortly and they would send the details over, my fiancé made it clear we are looking for a 3 bedroom, by the afternoon we hadn’t heard nothing so had to chase to get the information, when it was sent over the house which is becoming available is only a 2 bed, my fiancé replied back via email and we have heard nothing on return. Extremely unprofessional service and we certainly won’t be looking to rent via this estate agent going forward! It seems like they just want your money!

I made an enquiry about a rental property. Initially the staff were very friendly and helpful but that only lasted until I informed them that I wouldn't be able to take up the lease due to the timescale the landlady wanted.
Since then their eagerness to help has completely vanished (despite being registered on their prospective tenancy list) which only leads to the perception that they aren’t really genuine when it comes to finding the right property for renters. Perhaps for them it is just about the money.
Thankfully we aren’t short of letting agents in Amersham - though decent ones are hard to come by. Sadly, despite their claims to the contrary, Hydegate are not one of them.

Throughout our extensive use (latest August 2018) of the family run Hydegate Estates, we have found them to be an extremely professional, friendly and efficient agent providing a personalised service with integrity and customer satisfaction being paramount. Nothing is too much trouble. We have experienced at least two occasions when Marie Barrett has spent Bank Holidays trying to have a boiler fault fixed to restore heating. Being a family owned company there is continuity of personnel and unlike other companies - focus is not diverted to property sales. Furthermore there is not a costly array of Manager and Directors. Having used at least five other letting agents in several UK locations we fine their commitment to both Landlords and Tenants certainly superior to that of others. Well done Marie, Paul, Michael and their team. Contact them and see what they can do for you. You will be impressed.

We had an issue with our oven and they managed to send an engineer out the very next day to fix issue. Also managed to get 95% of my deposit back when I left the property which I was very impressed with.
Would recommend to any one!

Seriously disappointed with their services. I am not sure what sort of "game" they were playing on a property I have been trying to rent, however I didn't much like it. Needless to say, I didn't get the property which I was keen and would have gone over the odds to rent. So, if the owners read this, then they weren't serving your best interests either. Renters beware!!

We rented a property from Hydegate for a year and a half and in the 14 years I've been renting, they are without a doubt, by far the best estate agent I've ever dealt with. They treat you with so much respect, nothing is too much trouble for them to fix, they bent over backwards to help me when I was locked out the house and arriving home late and they do it all with a smile. I've never experienced any of this from any other estate agents I've been with in London in all the years I've been renting. They could really teach other estate agents a thing or two about customer service! Hydegate also returned the full deposit back to us with no problems. I really can't recommend them enough and I'd be with them forever if we hadn't just bought our first house. Thank you Hydegate, it's been such a pleasure x

Hydegate are simply the best !!! As a professional landlord with over 40 years experience of dealing with property letting & management agencies, I have learned to distinguish between the good, the bad, the professional and the downright incompetent companies. The majority of my residential properties are based in Bristol, a property hotspot for the lettings Market. However, the Bristol Agencies are mediocre at best. With the advent of the Internet and since using Hydegate Estates for some years, it is clear that distance/location is irrelevant. Now we would never even consider using another Agency!!! The quality of service provided by Hydegate Estates to both Landlord and Tenant is simply superb. Their professionalism and attention to detail regarding current Housing legislation is first class. The staff are well trained, professional and friendly. Whether you are a landlord or a tenant who wish to be helped to navigate your way through the "minefield" that current Housing Law has become, Hydegate will ensure that your best interests are protected at all times and provide you with a truly first class service. Whilst offering a superlative Agency service, Hydegate's fees are highly competitive. I will not be surprised to see more and more Landlords based both near and far from this Buckinghamshire based Company, use them in preference to any other Agency. Of course, it's no wonder that Hydegate are at the top of their game, given that the Company is itself owned and professionally managed by Marie and Paul Barrett, both highly qualified and each with over 30 years experience, ensuring that their team's performance puts all other Property Letting & Management Agencies in the shade!!! Well done Hydegate Estates!!!

I would highly recommend Hydegate Estates. They are not only professionals and delivering high quality services but they do treat you the best they can. They very helpful and always there for the customers.
I am a tenant myself, I have been their tenant for ages and they helped me moving, swapping properties and even helped me with things that was not their duty.
It is very hard to find, decent, honest and so customer orientated services these days.
I would highly recommend using them. Their team is fantastic, friendly and also very helpful.

I have just rented a property through Hydegates and was impressed by Ben who showed us around 2 properties. I had seen many others and was either put off by the properties shown or the agents. He was diligent, professional and thorough. I later dealt with Marie who helped us to navigate the tricky referencing process (I am self employed and my husband in a new job so we were a slightly unusual case) however they made sure the process all went smoothly and we have just moved into our new home and are very happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend as they treated us as individuals not as 'just another applicant'.
