Purchased a house with M&M and I can hardly say I’m impressed with the attention to detail. Received my invoice and paid immediately in full on the day of purchase, apparently the cashier had claimed it was £35 short.. no apologies for sending the wrong invoice over and no new receipt of invoice for this alleged fee when I had paid the additional- a very minor display of incompetence compared to what happened next. I moved into my house and my solicitor Shannon had advised me I had 5 working days to notify her of anything not working that would be over £400 to repair, and reminded me to check the heating system, I did and it didn’t work. The property also contained a cellar, for which I did not receive the keys for. When I had notified Shannon of both of my issues I was told “there was no heating mentioned on the home report, therefore I would have to accept it due to it being sold as seen” and “I have asked the seller, she doesn’t have the keys” when I asked for a resolution I was then advised “I have checked the deeds and you do not own or have access to the cellar that is built in to the property” considering this was built in to the house I felt it would be relevant to ask who owned the cellar. The response then started to change to “if I would like access to the cellar I could force entry via a locksmiths and she could put it to the seller to see if they would pay if it was over £400” I’m just washing my hands with the situation now and putting it down to a bad decision to go to Mcdougal and McQueen for the house purchase, hopefully I’ll be able to one day access the cellar within my purchased home . I do not recommend this firm for property purchase.... Read more

Andrea was incredibly helpful with the selling and marketing, keeping me well informed every step of the way, which was a huge relief, especially since I was also planning my wedding at the time. Unfortunately our experience with McDougall McQueen was extremely poor. We purchased a property from them and they ignored our solicitor for weeks. Eventually, 2 days before we were due to settle, someone finally got back to our solicitor and we were told that the original paralegal who had been dealing with the case was on holiday and none of the relevant reports or paperwork had been completed. There were multiple issues of lack of communication resulting in them being unaware of a change in purchase price and also when we eventually got keys the property was still furnished even though our solicitor had stated to them that we wanted the furniture removed however like multiple other things they didn’t pass this information on to their client. If this is what they’re like when buying a property from them I couldn’t recommend using them to purchase.... Read more

We've been wasting our time since September, sending them emails, downloading to the lifequay all necessary documents, passports etc in connection with the purchase of our new house. Now eventually we have to proceed with booking deposit, but unfortunately we couldn't get thought the person who is dealing with new build properties since 21 of October. No emails, reply's or whatever. Isn't a good time now to start looking for another solicitors company one week before Christmas. This is our very disappointing customer service experience.... My wife and I are genuinely grateful for the wonderful service by the team in Bruntsfield and in the back office for the support, attention and responsiveness of our recent sale and purchase. Having worked with a good local agent before, we decided to choose Mary and her team due to the personal nature of service and follow up marketing that they give. Having been a property developer in the past, it was good to have someone with a third party point of view. The VistaBee video and photography obviously helped (!) but the advice on the sale and follow up meant we got a great offer and found our dream home. Cannot rate this firm highly enough. They handled a transfer of title for me last year (2016) and the service was personal but unbelievably efficient, at a very reasonable price (they even brought documents out to me for signing when I had the flu, at no extra cost!). I would definitely use them again and have been recomending to friends and family.... Read more
