I can’t speak highly enough of Peterkin & Kidd. Their estate agency team just helped me sell my house and Carolyn and Karin were fantastic. So friendly, professional and communicative and a pleasure to work with. On the conveyancing side, David took care of the legals for me in his usual seamless fashion. He’s very commercial, spot on with his advice and has represented me lots of times over the years (whether buying or selling) - so I always go back to him. When my elder brother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I needed to urgently set up a Power of Attorney for him and also to assist him with his Will. I live near Oxford but a friend recommended Peterkin and Kidd - and Lynn Melville has been outstandingly helpful, supportive, kind and efficient. Meetings were arranged at very short notice and the whole process was completed far more quickly than I could ever have expected. Worthy of a six star rating but I will have to settle for Five. Extremely poor communication, from a very rude and abrasive admin working in Linlithgow I believe. We phoned to put an offer on a bungalow in Livingston, to be told you can't, you need to do it through solicitor. I took advice phoned them back and said I've been told I can put verbal offer, woman huffed and said it's not how we do it, so you want me to put the offer to the vendor??? I said yes please, she huffed again! Our solicitor then phoned 10mins later to put formal offer in, to be told vendors on holiday so need to get hold of them! Next day the bungalow in Dovecote Place had UNDER OFFER ... We had NOT even been told, when my Solicitor phoned told it's under offer to someone else, the rude woman refused to give any other details, failed to follow legal rules about informing of other offers, and didnt return my call after!! Our first viewing we didn't even get a follow up call to see if we like it, their clearly taking a lot of money from people who've lost relatives as this was also part of an estate following a death. I've emailed to make a formal complaint, I'd be surprised if the vendor was even told of our offer, this company do nothing to earn the extortionate fees they charge, I'd never recommend them to anyone!!!... If you want a professional service dealt with in a timely manner and attention to detail avoid this firm of solicitors. Not only were we incorrectly advised regarding the title deeds for mý parents property by two of their solicitors. We continually had to chase up and pull them up for the lack of attention to detail. I would avoid using this company if you possibly can. Dealing with my dads estate which is stressful enough and among other issues, being told one thing by one of the solicitors and then denying what they had said to me when they spoke to my brother! Also told me they had only had documents for a few days when my brother had handed them in weeks previously. Very unprofessional... Read more
