Would have given zero stars if I could. If you are a tenant stay away from them! Was renting a studio let by Tony Alan in a converted house. The property was let without gas safety certificate, no CO alarm until I got my own and later I found out the property was converted without planning permission. Communication is awful- not returning calls or emails, rude beyond belief not to mention liars. When moving in there were no water meters at the property and agent advised that in this case landlord will be paying water, however when I moved out 9 months later I was harassed by Thames water to pay ridiculous bill based on what agent told them! No answer from Tony Alan on the matter of course. I could go on forever with examples of unbelievable incompetence. STAY AWAY!... Read more

I would advise any tenants to avoid renting any property managed by Tony Alan. They are very dishonest and in particular an employee called Ibad. Ibad changed the contract at the last second and also avoids answering emails and in general is very rude. Notice almost all the good reviews are landlords and all the bad reviews are tenants. My flatmates and i out over a month ago. Our rent and deposits have not been returned. It took them about 2 weeks to even begin to return our calls/emails and "start the process" of getting it returned. Everyis a new excuse about why it is taking so long and they continue to get annoyed with us for calling every day, as if this shouldnt have been dealt with immediately. Disappointing experience. Booked a viewing for 11 am. They cancelled it but didn't let me know causing me to travel for a 2 hour round trip. When I rang them they said they tried to ring me 30 minutes before, but unsurprisingly I was on the Tube then in order not to be late. They didn't try to follow up so just left me waiting outside. Small thing compared to lots of the other bad reviews on here but still frustrating.... Read more

Last year I lived in a house with Hannah (her review is below) and I just wanted to reiterate the points she made as I can't think of anything else that would come close to expressing what Tony Alan put us through. Also - as far as I can remember, Nawfal is the name of someone who used to, or may still, work at the company, so I would reccomend you disregard his review and any other positive ones... From the very beginning the agency started to lie to us and we experienced numerous lapses in communication; for example, the set of keys that were given to Hannah at the beginning of the tenancy were completely wrong and did not fit in any locks in the property. I went in person to the agency and explained the problem, handed them the faulty keys; at the time they apologised and said they couldn't find the right set and would let us know when they did. They never did find these keys, while I am sure it is a legal duty to provide a working set of keys for each tenant, and lied outright about me having ever returned the faulty ones and asking for a new set which seemed bizarre. This left Hannah paying out of pocket to cut her own set of keys after about 6 weeks of tenancy had elapsed. This was at a time when we had builders in and out of our house about 6 days a week, 8 hours a day, leaving debris behind them in the evenings and making a total racket all day. This first phase of building works lasted about two months. More and more building works were needed on the house, literally too many to list in a Google review, and it was evident that the cheapest people were being hired to do the shoddiest jobs. For an example: BOTH bathrooms in the property had to be replaced nearly straight after us moving in and it becoming evident neither worked properly. BOTH bathrooms then had to be re-fitted as it turned out new problems had arised in each. There were so many times (too many to list) during our 12 month tenancy that AT LEAST one toilet or bathroom was out of use, which is evidently illegal seeing as it was a 5 person house, 5 person contract and according to that there must always be access to at least 2 working toilets/bathrooms. In fact so many incidents happened during our tenancy that I am sure breached the law in numerous ways, too many to list and frankly quite upsetting to list too. The system is not set up to work in the favour of tenants, especially if you are young/student tenants. There were so many incidents where I and my fellow housemates felt incredibly spoken down to. Many times, the ONLY times Tony Alan took action about house problems was when we asked a parent to speak to them instead, and in these cases I think they felt threatened. While I have listed some events that took place in our house last year, these depended too on the state of our house, and the communication between agency and landlord (of which it seemed there was practically none, except of course that they agreed on paying the bare minimum for repairs). At the end of the day, the agency themself are really not worth going through at all, are incredibly poorly managed and display zero compassion.... Read more

To be avoided! They basically don't do anything besides taking money from you, and with an attitude. They have dubious methods and contracts and didn't move a finger when we faced a problem (caused by them or by the fact that the flat was rubbish). In regards to communications, it was a hassle to get hold of them. The point of contact is always 'busy' and emails are answered rarely, poorly or inaccurately: they always tried to turn it against us, fool us or avoid to answer questions in purpose. Absolutely terrible service, I would give them 0 stars if I could. My one advice would not be to use these estate agents. I was with them for a year and they put myself and my housemates in numerous unliveable situations. Here are some terrible things that happened in the 12 months: - Expected us to live in a property without an HMO licence and without everyone's name on the contract. - Our house was a building site for at least 3 months and we were still expected to pay full rent. - The work was so bad at times that the local authorities told us we shouldn't have been living there, but we were not told this by the estate agents. - Our heating was broken for weeks in the coldest period of the year and it was never fixed properly. - I was given a key for the wrong property when we first moved in and they wouldn't sort it out for over a month. - At one point we didn't have a floor in the hallway so were not able to leave the house. I could go on but I think that will do! All of this would have been fine if the estate agents would respond to us / be in contact in properly. But they continually ignored us and when they spoke to us they were always very rude. Every time something needed to be done it was a battle to get them to admit there was a problem, to take some responsibility and do their job. And at the end they had the nerve to charge us for cleaning even though we'd cleaned the house to a high standard (though after much dispute we got this money back). They tried to blame us for most things, as to try and not do their job properly. They also repeatedly lie to you. Even if you find a nice house with them, save yourself a lot of effort and find another one which isn't with Tony Alan. It is honestly not worth your time.... Read more

Their agent Shah was the person responsible in looking after me, and I must say what a man, true professional to the art. He not only took care of me, but ensured any problems or fears I feared may arise would be dealt with swiftly and accordingly. All in all a good estate agency to be involved in. Highly recommend.... I was a tenant of a flat managed by Tony Alan and it wasn't a good experience. Mainly, the flat was in poor condition and after a few emails it was clear that they actually didn't care. They don't do check-in and it's clear that this particular flat hasn't been inspected in years. Secondly, I thought that they were very slow to reply to queries and I had to chase them for a month and a half to receive a copy of my contract. When I received the contract, many things where irrelevant (i.e. check in or inventory since they don't carry them, but also things about suppliers and rules that didn't apply to this property) and they were, again, slow to reply via emails when I questioned some of these points. They apparently have an online system to follow up with things, but of course I was never granted an access. After few months through the tenancy, they kept emailing a tenant that had left. Towards the end, they booked appointments that never happened. They also scheduled visits but forgot the access keys Etc. Etc. However, they did refund the deposit without being too annoying.... I read the reviews and was a bit weary to use them but we needed a place fast and the one we found was suitable for us and they were helpful with us and the move in was surprisingly smooth, did not have any problems as other reviews mentioned. They had the place cleaned before needed to move inn and the keys were handed off to us by their clerk. Very bad experience with this agency that seems to only pay attention to you when you come to sign the contract and pay them the administration fee. They didn't follow up with most of the things and were extremely slow to respond to any single query. The property they rented me was not up to standards and was never checked by the agency. They tried to add further charges to my contract when I visited their offices to sign the contract. Room was dirty upon check-in. The flat was not in the cleanest condition either.
