Joshua Ward represented us in our recent house purchase and we couldn't recommend him highly enough. He was very thorough in reviewing the documents provided, chasing those that were not provided, and explaining everything to us. He was always quick to move the process on and to communicate with us.... Read more

UPDATE: In response to the feedback from WS, we will have to agree to disagree on some things. For example, you didn’t give me a reason why the case was dropped. You just dropped it after I complained about the communication issues. Secondly there were a small number of emails from yourselves, but as I said it was the questions that never got answered that concerned me. This isn’t just my opinion, I have since gone over all this with someone who works in this field and although they can’t represent me in Scotland,, they agreed that I have not received the support that one would expect. The fact that you mention in your response that the motion to adjourn went unopposed by me, highlights the fact that I didn’t even know I could oppose it or if there would have been any benefit to that. How can you say the person who was there on the day in court would have given me the best possible support if I wasn’t even advised about that? There is no way on earth that I would have been able to put my best defence forward at trial with someone I just met and who really didn’t know much about my case at all. So I’m not going to get into this any further on here. This isn’t the place, but in response to your comment about being given sufficient time to find someone else, the trial is next month and I have been turned down by anyone I’ve asked. I will therefore be representing myself and like I stated previously I will be taking this further in due course. Not happy at all. I have recently used Walker and Sharpe for a case in Dumfries. I am very unhappy with the service received for a number of reasons. The communication (or lack of) right from the start was poor. No answers to messages left at the office. Promises of being called back that never happened. Questions in emails not answered. For me, I’m dealing with a really important and potentially life changing trial, but feeling like I had not been able to build up my strongest defence. When I mentioned this I was told not to worry as the solicitor has a lot of experience. That may well be the case, but I felt totally unprepared and suffered badly with anxiety, because I knew the case was winnable, but didn’t feel I had been listened to at all. To make matters worse, I spoke to the solicitor 3 days before the trial and was assured that things would be okay on the day. As it turns out the solicitor didn’t turn up on the day as he was on annual leave. He didn’t mention that 3 days earlier. Apparently his colleague was going to take the case, but she was held up on another, so I ended up with someone from another firm who I didn’t know, and really didn’t know anything about my case or my defence. The moment I met him, he seemed more concerned with getting me to plead guilty, despite the fact that the main policeman in the case has been struck off for gross misconduct and is potentially looking at a prison sentence. He really didn’t seem interested in listening to me and I felt sick to the stomach and helpless. Fortunately the issue with the policeman me at that the prosecution adjourned the case which meant that I didn’t have to stand trial with someone who I felt wasn’t up to speed on the case. Following this farce, I wrote to my solicitor and complained that I had several concerns about communication issues and the fact he did not show up at court. His response was to simply defend himself which ironically consisted of a long email that seemed way more detailed than any of the other communications I had received. He then told me he was withdrawing from the case and this has left me in a very difficult position with the fact that the trial will be coming up soon and I’ve already been turned down by legal aid solicitors who don’t have the time at the moment. I have been told by some people that the solicitor I have used is a good one, but unfortunately that’s not been my experience. Maybe he would have defended me well on the day, but not if he doesn’t show up! I will now be making a complaint to the Scottish Legal Board. Very unhappy about this.... Read more

Having used Walker and Sharpe on a number of occasions, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others. Many years ago I was represented by David Finnie (now retired), to whom I will be eternally grateful as he all but saved my life by keeping me out of prison! More recently I have used Carolyn Priestly, who I wouldn’t hesitate to put my faith in if I ever had to go back into a courtroom! All team members that I have encountered (both solicitors and office staff) have always been friendly, non-judgemental, professional, thorough and responsive. It’s good to know that you can put your trust in the person fighting for you!... Read more

Walker & Sharpe recently acted on my behalf in relation to the purchase of a property in Dumfries & Golloway. At all times during the entire process, I found them to be friendly, helpful, thorough and reliable. I was really impressed by the quality of their services, and how easily I was able to get in touch with them when I needed to. Neil Webster looked after the conveyancing from start to finish, and it was a pleasure to work with him on the property purchase. His wealth of knowledge and experience ensured everything went smoothly and according to plan. I would be only too happy to recommend Neil and the rest of the team at Walker & Sharpe.... Read more
