I recently viewed a property I was very interested in and made it clear I wanted to put in an offer and in a chain-free position. Despite this, the agent sold to a buyer involved in a chain. When I asked whether it would have been better for their vendor to receive multiple offers, I was told “of course we will take two sales over one.”
When that sale later fell through and the property came back to market, I was contacted to view again. Unfortunately, the exact same situation occurred again. I was apprehensive to move forward given the previous time and again, whilst in discussion with the agent, not given a fair opportunity to put in an offer, while the agent managed to reconnect the chain. I understand that the market is difficult, but prioritising an internal double-deal over the vendor’s best interests feels deeply underhand. If I were the seller, I would be furious to learn this was happening.
On a separate note, I was taken aback by the line of questioning I received during the viewing. Being quizzed about my age and affordability, along with comments like I “only look about 15”, came across as unprofessional and demeaning. It left me feeling uncomfortable and put me off wanting to view further properties with this agent.

These people dont have your interests at heart. I've been in very limited contact for just short of 3 months. I have called and emailed about 2 separate properties and they fail to reply and fail to actually commit. This has been a very stressful situation that they share zero empathy in. This business is NOT fit for purpose.
Charles has not even met expectations in this situation and I've not been able to discuss this with anyone else.

This is a modern day racket! Shockingly obvious attempt to undervalue our property for personal gain. The valuation provided with all kinds of scare tactics was 40% less than we ultimately sold for. Please do not fall for it!!

I tried to contact this estate agent three times last week via e-mail with a view to viewing a property in Benson. It took them FIVE days to respond, and with no apology for their delay.
So not the best customer service on the planet.
