After having tried a number of independent and national estate agents we felt totally disillusioned by the promises made on the initial appointment that led to a complete lack of communication and any kind of productive relationship. That completely changed with Dan and the team at Gatekeeper. I have purchased and sold properties in Bristol, Taunton and Swindon and without doubt Gatekeeper are amazing. Superb communication and care and attention from beginning to end. The weekly email and phone calls after the sale was something new to me and made what everyone says is a stressful time, pretty much stress free, thanks Sam. First of all this is a general review of what we experienced with Gatekeeper agency I'm not making referrals to any agents as most of them are nice and friendly but they are not there to make you better they are there to make money from you. 1.Comunication with tenants it can be improved by providing them a phone number which is free to use and contact the estate agent 2.We didn't felt supported with agents smiling and temporarily emphasizing with us without taking real actions to show their support 3.There has been and end of tenancy fee taken from our deposit early than at the end of tenancy, without anyone notifying. We had to ask and find about it and the explanation was 'anyway that fee is taken from the deposit at the end of tenancy'. 4. We had 3 inspections over an year and a half without any issues at all but at the end of the contract we had money deducted from our deposit for silly reasons like grass has grown into the flowers, CO2 sensors not working or dirty oven. 5.All the reasons for deduction we have not been present when the inspection has been done, so we cannot verify anything as the agency didn't provide any photos with how the garden has been 'repaired' or how the oven is looking after being cleaned and where the new CO2 sensors has been installed and replaced. Not to mention that nothing was new in that house and they were expecting to be like new. 6.What I think is that they are applying this issues to many as possible tenants trying to deduct money from their deposit. 7. In the end doesn't matter how hard you are looking for the house or place you are renting from Gatekeeper there allways be issues raised at end of tenancy to deduct some money. This is all about really for them or Gatekeeper ''money''. In the end I would like to mention that this is a honest review about what we experienced with this agency, I don't know if there are others better there.... Read more

It has been six months since my last dealing with Elliot Oliver but I still feel very angered by the way we were dealt with by this company to be fair and honest if we did have a problem during our time then it was dealt with professionally and quickly, it was not until we had given our notice that the attitude toward us changed. My wife was several months pregnant and the agent turned up to conduct a viewing that was not confirmed whilst my wife was in the bath. On letting themselves in and discovering this you would think that they would make there apologies and leave but not so instead whilst my heavily pregnant wife was trying to dress herself they stood outside the bedroom and asked if it was ok to have a look inside. We also had some major issues on our departure, despite having the house professionally cleaned and the oven professionally cleand we choose not to use the recommended agents of Elliot Oliver as we had found better pricing from professional outfits elsewhere. On the checkout date I attended the property myself only to be told to leave and come back in a couple of hours once the inventory process had been completed. On my return extremely minor points were raised all of which could have been resolved during the checkout If I had been present during the process, a bit of dust here and a cobweb there was pointed out and a bill of over £100 was proposed as we hadn't used the preferred supplier, ther were various other small issues as a dent in the wall from a door handle which had been filled and painted blinds in rooms not removed that were left in situ for the next tenant but both were not to an apparent sufficient standard. The whole process resulted in a series of emails and battles for common sense to prevail, whilst still having over £250 deducted from us a lot less than the original £900 demanded left a very bitter taste, please be your own judge but a very unpleasant experience for us.... Contacted by Rebecca after I had told Chancellors 4 times in the past not to ever contact me again. These people are like a dog with a bone. As soon as they got my details they will *not* stop emailing and phoning me about letting my property through them. Their internal systems are a disaster. Plenty of good estate agents out there. Would avoid Chancellors at all costs.... Read more
