When my wife and I wanted to let out our house on a managed basis in 2013 we were highly recommended to Alan Lowery and Elite by friends. We have not been disappointed. The whole process has been and continues to be a positive and efficient experience. The preliminary discussions were easy and straightforward. Good tenants were found for our house even though our time scale was somewhat tight. The ongoing management is proceeding well. We have confidence and trust in the company which makes a lot of difference. In short we would say, to use a familiar phrase, 'it does exactly what it says on the tin'.
Absolutely furious this morning, waking up to a phone call from my partner at 9am saying Janet has given away our viewing slot at 10:30am because he couldn’t answer the phone at 8am, because he was at work!! He works overnights and doesn’t finish till 9am. Will not recommend and will definitely not view another house with them, they are meant to be helping us which should mean catering to the times we are available, today we are available from 9am that’s why I booked the viewing at 10:30am not 8am! So unprofessional.

I’d never rented a house out before so trusted Reeds Rains draw up a suitable contract in my best interests, as I was immigrating.
Turns out the tenant they advised me to accept was a personal friend of one of the branches employees and they signed the tenant up to a 12 month no break contact, which basically meant he could pay no rent whatsoever and there was noting I could do about it until the end of his lease. I have since talked to other agencies and they couldn’t believe they offered a tenant this contract. I was sending Reeds Rains 7-10 emails a week asking what was going on and was lucky if I received 1 reply.
Eventually I had to give up my dream life in Canada as someone living in my UK house rent free was costing me a fortune.
I’ve now used another agency to find me a tenant with no issues, but have never received a single penny of the outstanding rent.
Thanks for the reply Susan. I’ve tried using the ‘contact us’ option on the Reeds Rains website, left all my details, contact info etc and I’ve not received any response.
Further to your reply, I was told the tenant which I was advised to accept by your staff, with the exact words ‘he’s a personal friend on mine so I can vouch for him’ had received a credit check and actually had a guarantor (co-signer) in place. When he decided to stop paying the rent I asked for a copy of these checks to be told - ah we didn’t complete the checks, and he didn’t even pass the credit check !! And because he’d been signed up to a no break lease (which your staff advised was a good idea ) I was told there was nothing I could do until the end of his lease. Meaning he could just go for months paying no rent !
I’ve since found out this was false, and I could of started proceedings as soon as he was 2 months behind, but strangely your staff didn’t mention this.
I can send you every email which I sent and that I received from Reeds Rains to back this all up.
I was totally let down by Reeds Rains and if I had the time and resources I would definitely be taking this further

Our experience with Bridgford has been the worse in ten years of renting properties in the UK.
As soon as we took off the property from the rental market, Bridgford has been extremely slow in administration (e.g. confirming that our references and documentations were alright and confirming acceptance of the offer of rent). Afterwards, despite the property was managed by Bridgford we dealt directly with the landlord who was fortunately very helpful throughout.
At the end of a two years tenancy, we left the house and had it cleaned professionally. Few minor issues were pointed out in the check-out report (few light bulbs to be changed, oven and hob to be cleaned, 'some' dust remaining on 'one' shelf in one bathroom...). We said we'd send our cleaner and the communication started being very scattered. Three months afterwards we received a letter detailing the deductions to be made on our deposit including a full new end of tenancy cleaning (£180), plus £60 of agency fees. We have now raised the issue of an unjust solution, and made a proposition to pay one third of the cleaning fees, but we haven't receive any answer yet...
And after three months we haven't received our deposit back yet!
I have dealt with many of the Reeds Rains branches in the North East over the past years and can honestly say the Durham branch upkeep those high standards set, impeccably. Lucy and the team go out of their way to provide a top service that I could not recommend highly enough. If you're buying, selling or investing in this area this is the place to go!
Absolutely useless rent properties out in bad state of repair all they bothered about is getting there money then they dont want to know repairs 3 months in not done! Dont want to know. Honestly absolute Joke stay clear of REED RAINS so months in mice everywhere, loose taps, doors dont shut worst estate agents. We found Your Move - Houghton-le-Spring to be a very professional and efficient estate agency. From first contact, the valuation, photography, brochure preparation, first viewing and receipt of an offer for full asking price took less than 3 weeks. Sales Manager Rachel Smiles was especially helpful in giving advice on content of the sales brochure and her friendly staff in arranging the 2 viewings by first interested party. We would highly recommend this agency to value and sell your property quickly at its true market value.

The ladies at Hegartys branch in Houghton le Spring sold our property for us in 4 weeks! We moved 6 weeks after our STC agreement. This was a really quick process and the girls advocated really hard for us throughout the whole process. Their support and dedication to our family made difficult processes, a lot easier. I recommend you consider them if you are planning to sell/ let your property.
Don’t bother to let you know if something has happened with rent payments and leave it for a further 6 months before landing that you owe money not just a little money ALOT then expect you to pull it out like it’s nothing then serve you with a eviction because your now In dire straights through not having the money to have over like that!!! Considering I’ve been a few tenant for almost 8 years reported a problem on EVERY 6 MONTH HOUSE CHECK and not just little things either major problems that have now impacted on my health and been treat like a animal sorry animals get treat better to be honest !!! Disgusting service haven’t a clue or interest in tenants safety I’ve waited 8 years now for a carbon monoxide detector and STILL WAITING !!! Avoid this company because all they are interested in is taking your money and when there’s a problem that only involves MONEY THEYLL THEN ACT FAST ON !!! your loyalty to them means absolutely nothing !!!!
