My husband and I are using Sowerbys for our purchase and we have to say we are most impressed with Fleur who is exceedingly proactive, professional and a lovely helpful person, who I am looking forward to inviting round for a thank you cup of tea and cake when we complete! Thank you also to anyone else we have spoken to in the office who are all excellent.
Just a tip to people viewing rental properties through Sowerby's: Don't.
I viewed a property on a Saturday morning, and called them to apply for tenancy an hour later. I was told I'd have to wait to be called by one of their team on Monday. Monday rolls around and I miss the call (a voicemail was left asking if I wanted to proceed with an application) in the morning so call them back in the afternoon. The person I spoke to was confused as to whether the property was already let or it was myself that was going to be letting the property. She said she would call me back right away after finding out more information from a colleague. She didn't. The next morning I receive a call telling me that the property was already let over the weekend due to the landlord also having the property managed under another letting agent.
The moral of this story is don't bother with Sowerby's, the reason I did not get a chance to live in the property I wanted was that they do not work over the weekend and other letting agents do.
We are amazed at the speed our property has been marketed and sold in such a short time. The service that your staff have given us has been excellent particularly Mr Charlie Giacomelli and Joe Thomas have conducted the selling in a very competent and reassuring way. We would have no hesitation in using your services again.
The personnel who worked there were lovely, very friendly and professional. I wouldn’t use them again however for 2 reasons:
1) the 5 month contract is very excessive given that other agents offer much shorter contracts.
2) they really were not successful at getting viewings through the door.
Couldn't fault the service. Needed my property leased out quickly and they managed to without any issues. Excellent staff, very professional and you can't beat their rates. Highly recommend!
Such a disaster from the very beginning! The agency was very happy to take money from me, but is not providing a professional service at all. Some of these things would be considered beyond basic as a lettings agency. Locked out of the property for 4 days at the beginning of my tenancy for which they blamed the existing tenant - but the issue was actually that they didn't know what keys they should have for the property. They seem to have very little concern for tenant safety - they gave me a front door key knowing there was a risk I could get locked out, as they claimed there was no backdoor key (there was). They had not arranged for the property to be cleaned - they seem to have some issue where they don't know how the property is to be managed, but have not made one attempt to contact the landlord and find out how they ought to proceed, which is a bit odd. It is also resulting in no speedy progress with getting issues sorted out. Surely it is common sense to speak to the landlord rather than insisting the property is a house share when it is being let to individual tenants. Not a shared contract. These are not my only experiences with them, and it's under 2 weeks in. I couldn't recommend this agency to anyone, as my own experiences have been nothing but back to back trouble, unnecessary worry and stress, but the worst part is how very little they seem to care. Really disappointing.
Excellent service and friendly team. Particular thanks to Eleanor who worked tirelessly on our behave negotiating through a complicated chain successfully. We recommend them without hesitation.
Once they had signed us up they didn’t communicate well. They made a mistake when receiving an offer from the buyer by not giving us the correct information, which lead to us having to leave items to the value of £1500.
Not good, would not use again
