I contacted Douglas Allen for a desktop valuation quote and spoke to a chap called David. I have to say he was very good and really helpful. He patiently took the time to answer all your questions with honesty and even offered additional advice to improve the selling price of my property. He knows his stuff and have given me detailed, honest advice with my best interests at heart and I have now walked away from this conversation with him with a definitive strategy.
Very helpful and friendly estate agents. Have mainly dealt with Adam, always made to feel that nothing is too much trouble. Kept updated constantly, and always feel staff are doing everything they can to ensure a sale. Would recommend (and have) to others.
Excellent lettings service provided by the whole team. Would highly recommend letting your property via this office in romford as they were very helpful in finding the perfect tenants for my property! Pleasure to deal with Oz who was very friendly, efficient and professional throughout the whole process.
Yes people there were friendly, but that's about it. First off, paid a 'reasonable fee' of £300 and spent 30 minutes writing down every personal detail for a background check. Then paid another £125 for contract drafting. Took them almost 3 weeks to draft the contract. Finally they will frequently close early or have no one in the office during opening hour. I would rather take the risk using Gumtree next time than use BE again
A big Thank you to Charlotte and Matthew. This was our second time to purchase whit Charlotte. The service and professional advices we received where outstanding. She manage the whole process and kept us informed throughout the purchase. Communication whit Charlotte is very easy. The deal was completed in less than 25 days.Great work..I would highly recommend Charlotte, Matthew and Bairstaw Eves Elm park. Thank you team
Many thanks to Matthew , Lee and Charlotte for all the help with the sale of our house . Overall we thought the team were " on the ball " and always kept us well informed . Cheers guys !
Great experience in both buying and selling. Very happy with this branch and especially Guy Vaughan.
Have recently brought in the Sandwell area with this company and I can say the service I received was appalling and I would definitely not recommend to anyone buying or selling, although I will say they are all about the sale so if your selling I suppose this may be good for you but customer service goes out the window. Bobby who I dealt with on many occasions was so rude to the point he told myself that I should be ashamed of myself and to go and look in the mirror to which I replied no your meant to be the professional here all because our solicitors made a human error. Overall the service I received was disgraceful and the amount of pressure I was put under was totally unacceptable. A colleague from the company even went as far as verbally abusing my solicitor via email. So no I would not and will never ever recommend this company and this issue has been taken further.
Great service from the start of the process. Helped me find a few businesses to look at. Not purchased a business due to changes in circumstances but very helpful and knowledgeable staff. If you need advice on buying a business, speak to these guys.
Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000.
Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer.
Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show.
Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.
