I've just purchased a home via Alwyne Estates. Freddie has been really great throughtout the whole process - from viewing the place, making an offer, getting the solicitors to do their part and organise for the old furniture to be removed from the flat before I received the keys. The communication has been pleasant and relaxed (really appriciate not being chased on the phone 24/7), he was honest and helpful from the very start and made the whole process a smoother.

Rightly or wrongly Estate Agents have a reputation that is not usually held in the highest regard. Having done business with various estate agents over the years, and especially with one more recently, they have been a range of unpleasant to horrific experiences.
That was until I had the absolute pleasure of dealing Freddie Grubb at Alwyne Estates. I cannot begin to describe how professional, pleasant and relaxed, yet efficient and accommodating Freddie was. No hard sell, lies or embellishments, he was honest and helpful from the very start and made the whole process a smoother one with a great outcome. I lived in a property let out by Alwyne for a year and it was a surprisingly great experience, especially compared to our previous managing agents.
Every time something went wrong or we needed something fixed or dealt with Alwyne were quick to respond and send plumbers or follow up with an issue.
Freddie, Jack, Chris and Emily dealt with everything super professionally - they also know the area very well and are honest and transparent about what to expect.

I have no idea where some of the good reviews come from (probably their own freinds!), but I called inquiring about a property, and from the guy who picks up the phone, to the manager, they were all rude, unprofessional and short - like they could not be bothered, they seem to have no interest in helping the customers. Worst agancy I've ever spoken to!
I was booked for viewing for 1 property. No 1 they showed me a wrong property ???? 2. When finally they managed to find out which out is already rented and which one is not, I made an offer and waited 1 week for their respond. Haven’t heard nothing from them and waited only to see the property been let to someone else without responding to my offer a week later.
Unprofessional and time wasters! Avoid at all costs!! If you want a hassle free life, do not rent from them!!!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID,
I went to view a property in N4 which the estate agent “jack” had ZERO knowledge on the property, it seemed as if they sent a school boy on work experience for my viewing.
The property it self was not finished, but I was told it was ready to move in immediately. There where hanging wires from many sockets, and there was a tone of rubbish still left outside due to the renovation of the property
I later called the office and spoke to a LADY, which also had zero information on the property, i ended up calling over 4 times, and the LADY on the phone was being extremely rude, so i asked to speak to the Manager “CHRIS” he told me that all my questions where answered, which obviously wasn’t true. The manger was also not helpful, they treated me as if i am on benefits, but i am confident i earn more than there combined salary.

Our flat was put on the market Oct 2020 with Alwyne Estates . Freddie Grubb managed the process from start to end. We accepted an offer soon after it went on the market and the process began a few weeks after. The sale took longer than we anticipated as the 1st buyer pulled out 6 months after and nearing the completion. With Freddie’s advice we decided to put it back on the market . Within days we got an offer . Freddie was informative and pro-active through out the process. Always communicating with the buyer and solicitor and keeping both the buyer and us the sellers updated . Myself and my partner rented a flat through Alwyne Estates last year. The experience, which normally results in headaches and all manner of peril, was made super-smooth by the Alwyne Team. I had the good fortune of meeting Malcolm L. who is really a prince among men when it comes to offering a personal service, with care, compassion and udnerstanding. Malcolm understands what tenants need and is always there to help( he's answered my calls and emails at all times, even in weekends - that is saying something).
Would definitely recommend Alwyne Estates. Even though we are now in the process of changing flats - we are looking forwards to a continued collaboration with Malcolm and the whole Alwyne Team.

Have been with Alwyne for many years simply because they provide an excellent service year after year. They work in an extremely professional manner and are always courteous on every occasion. Freddie, Malcolm and the rest of the staff are a great team and they really do put a lot of effort into their work in order to provide the very service. I have tried other high street agents in the same area but the service is no where close to Alwyne! I wouldn't change them for any agent.

We viewed a property with Alwyn Estates and after a large email conversation directly from Chris’ Alwyn Estates official email account, we were informed that his email was “hacked” and that the deposit we had transferred had gone to fraudsters. Alwyn Estates refused to reimburse us even though their official email was hacked, and they later told Islington Gazette that one of their staff had “inadvertently shared his login details” - sounds very safe right?! The email we received after this from their director was sarcastic, unhelpful, rude. Even the police were shocked at the response and refusal to take responsibility. They flat out lied to the paper, saying that we had replied to an email that was not the official email account. This is a flat out lie and I have email screenshots to prove it. Avoid them at all costs.

After more than 3 years as a tenant I can only say I've never dealt with a better agent. On the coldest day of the last winter I woke up to find the boiler packed in, I rang them at 9.00am & they not only did they get a plumber in the same day, but located and fitted a new pump with the minimum of fuss as well. I can't recommend them highly enough, and they are a nice bunch to deal with too.

After arriving in London from New York it became apparent that renting a condo in Islington is a very different experience from doing so on the UES. The amount of leg work is about the same but the agents here in London are far less regulated, some almost seem like they are constantly lying and never telling you the truth which becomes real frustrating when all you want to do is find a place to live and finish your move off. After a few nightmares with appointments being cancelled before I even viewed the place, and a growing feeling of ‘I’m never gonna find somewhere’ I bumped into a nice Irish realtor at Alwyne Estates on St Paul’s Road by the tube. He showed me 3 places, the last of which just so happened to be the exact condo I was looking for overlooking Highbury Fields. The process from there onwards ran really smoothly up to grabbing the keys. Luckily as well Alwyne Estates are managing the flat as 2 months after moving in James arranged for a boiler replacement after I had a few problems in the flat with the heating and the oven packing up. If you are looking for a flat to let pop in and see James, I am sure he will find you a great place!

When I began my property search I registered with multiple agents in the Islington area I was most impressed by the customer service which I received from Alwyne so I decided to put my faith in them to find me a suitable property.
During the search process I found them extremely knowledgeable about the local market. I was impressed with their efficiency in sending over relevant properties and arranging viewings at a times which were suitable for me.
I found them to be honest throughout the process and unlike previous experiences with estate agents there were no hidden costs which I would find out about at the end.
Alwyne are the managing agents of the property which I am in and I have had a very enjoyable tenancy so far.
They are contactable and approachable and provide regular updates whilst they are waiting for the landlord to agree to get the work done.
I would highly recommend anyone looking to rent a property in the area to get in touch with these guys.

Estate agents are a group of people I have to deal with quite frequently, lately I have started to use Alwyne Estates who have proven to be superb. They respond quickly and effectively and provide a very personable transparent service. The last flat I let through them simply wouldn’t have happened without the resourceful, determined approach adopted by Steve James. They are a pleasure to deal with on every level and don’t make up silly excuses which just insult your intelligence.

They only bother speaking to you if there's money involved. Any requests for maintenance or even to have a copy of your contract are completely ignored. Absolutely terrible estate agents, they couldn't be much worse at their job. They try to show off how friendly and personal their service is, but as soon as the deposit is down they cut you off. Really lazy and unprofessional company. Stay away.
