We have recently sold or rather exchanged contracts on my deceased brother-in-law's house in East Oxford. It was not an easy sale because of the state of the property and the complications of probate, family interests etc, but the two Richards were very understanding, patient and professional throughout the process. They undertook many viewings and went 'above and beyond' to ensure there were no problems with the vacant property, and to keep us all informed, as we were not local to Oxford.

Having worked in property for 40 years, and bought and sold some 40 houses, (and even once worked in Estate Agency!), I hope I am fairly well qualified to pick the best Agent for the job.
The two Richards at C and E are hugely knowledgable, seriously professional, and yet not remotely pretentious! They were so much more effective than well meaning but inexperienced competitors. Their advice on the sale of my house in Magdalen Rd proved to be spot on, and the cautions they voiced correct! Communication was always clear, with options and suggestions when possible. In the end their experience carried my sale through and in this years unpredictable soft market, those skills were paramount.
This is only the 4th review of any kind I have ever written, but in my view they deserve my effort.

Richard and his team did an amazing job. We had a very positive and successful estate agent experience with the personal touch. Essentially they gave us a better price and a better service than the larger estate agents around Oxford (which we have used before ).
After first contact, our house was put on the market in under a week - even though the Easter bank holidays got in the way.
The marketing was concentrated so that we had solid offers in a fortnight which minimised the disruption to our lives. As a result of their work we had solid offers in under two weeks and our house sold in under four weeks.
Their support didn’t stop there, they kept the solicitors, us, and the sellers on track, and updated all along the way. At every point, we felt we could approach them at any time. Their support has continued even after the completion with answering random queries and helping us locate a sentimental item that had got mislaid in the move. We are so pleased with Richard and the team as, we sold our house very quickly and for a very good price

Their work provided great value for money. With their help, we were able to sell our home promptly, with relative ease and at a price we were very happy with.
They provided us with hassle-free, no-obligation valuations of our family home in Donnington on two separate occassions - the first in the winter of 2019 (when we were merely musing on the possibility of selling) and then again in the summer of 2021 when we had decided that we did indeed want to sell. On both occassions we never felt pressured into making a decision or following-up on their valuation.
In all of our interactions, both Richard Chamberlain & Richard Evans were a pleasure to work with. Their manner was always friendly, personable and supportive and they were never pushy, which put us well at ease. They displayed great local knowledge and offered sound advice whenever we needed it. They were very professional at all times whilst remaining totally approachable. Of all the different parties we dealt with during the sale of our home, we felt Chamberlain Evans stood out from the pack. They provided excellent service and we had the sense that they were genuinely on our side and cared about our intentions.
The web description, brochure and report that they prepared were all first-class and our house received great exposure and attracted a lot of interest from the first day. They managed all house viewings throughout and these were arranged at convenient times to suit us. I believe we had agreed a sale in less than 2 weeks!
The whole process of our moving house lasted around 6 months due to complications concerning our home purchase overseas and so was out of their control, however, Chamberlain Evans continued to offer advice and support throughout this period, as well as managing all communications with our buyer during this period to keep them informed and on board with the purchase.
We highly recommend contacting Chamberlain Evans, whether you are serious about selling your house - or merely musing about the possibilities!

If you have a property to sell or are looking to buy in Oxford, I cannot recommend working with Chamberlain-Evans enough. You can save yourself an extraordinary amount of pain by avoiding some of the bigger agencies that will have you suffer gobsmacking levels of negligence and incompetence, and instead simply working with Richard C and Richard E. They sold our Rose Hill property for us, at all times with our best interests at heart, offering additional services ad hoc, responsive to enquiries, giving sound and considerate advice even in matters only tangentially related to the sale, dealing courteously and professionally with recalcitrant tenants, communicating frustrations caused by matters outside anyone's control matter-of-factly, plainspeaking and honest about our prospects.

I placed my house on the market with Chamberlain Evans, after having evaluations with another 4 to 5 agents based in Oxford, some of which I felt were just in it to get your money. CE gave the best fee overall and I feel the best personal and professional service and obtained a very good selling price too, given the market. I also felt communications was excellent throughout and when it came to negotiations felt Richard was very good by giving advice too. If I were to sell again I would use CE again. Their years of experience and extensive knowledge of the local market were always in evidence, and their very reasonable fee was an added attraction. Nothing but praise for the help and advice given by Chamberlain Evans to us - as first time sellers - resulting in a good sale at a good price. Chamberlain Evans offered the best rate and were by far the most consistently professional, personable, responsive and honest. For personal reasons I ended up deciding not to sell, but I also viewed numerous properties with practically all the estate agents in Oxford - and I can highly recommend Chamberlain Evans as my top choice. In an industry typically characterised by endless, pushy patter from young men (and women) with little experience looking for a quick sale, Richard Evans was refreshingly knowledgeable, experienced, down-to-earth, trustworthy, helpful and genuine. A couple sets of friends who have sold/purchased their properties with them also echo my positive experiences and verdict. If I were looking to sell or buy again, I would definitely approach Chamberlain Evans first.

I would not hesitate to recommend Chamberlain Evans who exceeded our expectations by selling our house in 10 days and for a price which exceeded our expectations. Richard Evans and Richard Chamberlain are very knowledgeable of the local market, always available no matter what time of day, they proactively kept me informed throughout the process and most of all the advice they provided was so valuable. Although, they were only engaged to sell our house, they went over and above by also advising us during the process of purchasing our new house when it hit some complications which was listed with another agent.

We sold our house very quickly with the help of Chamberlain Evans in 2015 and for a price which exceeded our expectations. They were superb in every way - excellent value for money, years and years of experience (which made a huge difference), always kept us informed, showed every interested person around the house to help further the sale and even correctly predicted the type of person who would buy our house. We had 6 different estate agents around to value the house and tell us the service they could offer. Chamberlain Evans were streets ahead of the rest, the best value and the 30+ years of experience that Richard Chamberlain and Richard Evans have between them really showed. Offered an expert, friendly, and very professional service. House buying always gets fraught. You need someone on your side who knows when to stick and when to twist. Chamberlain Evans do this! They are calm, diligent, and conscientious. And if we're talking bottom line, I can honestly say that that the level of the personal service they offered saved us a lot of money.

These agents are not like the other agents where they just want your money. These ones treat you professionally and personally. Setting the right price and getting the best price and I should know as I have used them 3 times and would use them again. I even recommended them to a friend and they were over the moon as they even got the asking price! They always go the extra mile and will not just listen but also give advice. Yes they do treat the buyer the same as the seller which is very important because if the buyer is happy then the seller is even happier. It's not often I will write a review but Chamberlain Evans deserve top recommendation.
