This should be your #1 rent plug if you’re living/intend to live in Sunderland. I was able to secure my accommodation hassle from and from abroad without any problems. At the start of my process of securing my accommodation, Gill whom was the property manager then was very welcoming, approachable and always kept me in the loop. The team is very friendly and always listens or directs you to the pertinent member of staff to attain help or resolution. Nikki Smith who then became the property manager after I moved in and settled down was so helpful to me throughout my journey in my flat. I had an issue, reported it to her, she promised to do her best to help in resolving and she kept her word. Hackett Property has a truly great team and should be #1 agent to contact for accommodations in Sunderland whether you’re a foreigner or local.

I viewed a property with Hackett Property today, initially a slight mishap but Brendan went out of his way to sort it out and the viewing was brilliant. That kind of attitude can only bode well for vendors looking to sell their homes/investments. If I move forward with the purchase then I’ll be certainly considering using Hackett to manage it.

Please don’t waste your time contacting them. Group of my friends lost around 300 pounds and one of my friend lost 100 pounds as holding deposit. The worst part is even if you pay and do all referencing arranging documents still they WON’T give you accommodation. Personally I have viewed 5 rooms with them. Every time they make excuses after wasting our time and effort. And they never respond back. After ringing them many times they would say ‘Unfortunately it’s not available’. And for my last viewing I have send all my guarantor details and they never responded. After ringing them many times they said ‘I have to pay advance rent of 12 months, or else I won’t get the accommodation’. I mean what the heck!!! So please do not waste your time..

The Staff are seriously incompetent at their job, unanounced flat visits and viewings. They take advantage of students and never look after the properties so id advise landlords to stay away. Oh and they left me and my partner with a broken toilet for 3 days when we first moved in and they really did not care for our well being during those 3 days. Honestly this agency is the devil in disguise. Horrible soul-less organisation

The attitude shows why they have negative reviews. when providing her with information the raised and rude tone was impossible to speak with her. personally I would if I could provide a negativity star I would.
I understand, its stressful but when i am helping and going around in circles with someone with an abrupt nature I will terminate the phone call. I do not appreciate when speaking with someone to be spoken to like a infant and spoken over.

I was forced to give them a one star review but would give them an absolute ZERO. The staff here may be polite but don't let them deceive you as they are very unprofessional, laid back and honestly just not worth your time. They tend to string you along with false hopes of properties to rent only to disappoint. During the hiring season a large group of my peers had migrated to sunderland to start a new life, the experience was greatly affected by Hackett property and it's employees. I would strongly recommend against them by using literally any other agency in the city

The worst landlords I’ve ever had. When it came to emails or texts about enquiries or issues I had I was often ignored. The only way I got my deposit back was by ringing them and reminding them I was owed it. If I hadn’t had done that I don’t believe I would have relieved it. The staff I dealt with were very rude and miserable. Late to flat viewings and gave me ridiculous excuses to the state of some of the properties I viewed before settling in one. Two flats I viewed were covered in mold and I was told it would be painted over. As if that would magically fix it. The only reasons I stayed with Hackett is because they were the only agency in Sunderland that had single person flats. In hindsight I wish I got shared accommodation. When it came to moving in, the agency took far too long to send my the documents to sign. When I texted them asking for it to be sent, they replied with snotty and rude messages. Please just go somewhere else.

We are after a 2 bed flat for rent and after viewing the property, we told them that we will take it. They say they will put our application forward to the landlord. After this, we contacted them atleast 5-7 times and every time we hear the same reply “still waiting for landlord’s response”, and we eventually gave up on this property and started contacting other housing agents. We never heard from them again. Not even a “hey! The property is gone, sorry!”.
So, overall it is a terrible customer experience.

Just want to stress out there, how these people from this office deseaved us into paying more and a year's worth of council tax for a mouldy ready to fall down property and making us think that the contract was terminated. I'm discussed for what these people would do to gain more and more money and also taking adevantage of foreigners since they don't know the rules here and are afraid. Stay away from these people, there are plenty of agencies around Sunderland that will treat with you honesty and value for money! 1 star looks a lot but there is no option for 0, unfortunately.

Rented from Hackett for 2 years, can’t fault the service from Hackett but the WiFi was really slow and this caused a lot of problems for me, even though Hacketts did ask the landlord to get a quicker speed they wouldn’t agree which was annoying. Everything thing else was great. Nice staff always friendly.

Do not get your new property with this company. My flatmate and ourselves have dealt with Hackett Properties for almost 6 months. We have endured 4 months worth of building work in our flat without notice, 5 days with a blocked sink, 20 days without a working shower (we had to attend a local gym to shower while Hackett did not deal with the issue despite being aware) and we are currently 5 days without working Internet (We have emailed twice and called about this, but they have ignored our emails)
Terrible company that I would avoid at all costs. Please do not sign with this company.

Unorganized. Unprofetional behaviour. Do not care about customers. Hiding the truth about the state of the properties they provide. False inventories. Unfortunatelly they have cornered the market, managing the largest percentage of the sudent flats, so you do not really have a choice but to deal with them.

They’re are cheats! If your a student they will rob you of your money. If you don’t keep track of your rent payments they will charge you more than you owe. They lied about how much rent was until I signed for the place then it went up.
When I moved into my property it was infested with mice. We had to complain several times before they even did anything about it. And it’s still a problem. They are not helpful at all. Worst place ever would not recommend anybody to take a place with Hackett!

Hacketts were recommended to me by a contractor, I was looking for an agent to find tenants and fully manage my property for me! I wanted a local agent that is experienced in letting to students.
I had Brendan come round to see the house and for him to tell me about hacketts and for me to tell him what I’m looking for! Brendan is a nice guy and very knowledgeable!
Within a couple of days the house was advertised on various platforms And was fully let!
I would recommend any landlord looking to let their property out to use hacketts because they are active and communicate well!

If I could give zero stars...I would. Poor booking management, mixed responses from the main office and very poor customer service. I understand mistakes may happen, but as a company take responsibility, and do not blame your customers for poorly communicated (or lack of) information.

Horrible experience with these people, a number of my friends and I lived in properties managed by these people, we are international students and I can say they have no regard for international students as I have asked enough people to confirm this. I had neither hot water nor Wi-fi for almost 3 months and they did not care enough to do anything about it.I did a Skype viewing before I moved in and I can say I was catfished. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The staff are very rude, advice to international students that plan on living here in future, make sure to walk into the office and speak up because they believe we might be ignorant or timid , it would intimidate them as they are only confident over the phone.

Whenever we used to go to them with any issues regarding maintenance they never showed up until we followed up several times.. Also when we vacated the place, we got almost only approx 20% of our deposit amount and they said it was for cleaning!!!

Absolutely fantastic service, quick and easy as well as very professional office staff. I have met 4 members of the staff and the customer service I received was outstanding especially from Nicole, she went well out of her way to assist me and was extremely helpful, I can see this lovely young lady going very far in the industry, a true credit to the company!

Great experience with this company. Rented from them as a student, really helpful staff, friendly faces in the office who were great at getting repairs done and full of helpful information. Would certainly recommend Hackett Property, a head above the rest.

We had an excellent experience here and were delighted as we have the same surname! We got a personal service and even when we lost our keys late one evening they got replacements to us within 30 mins and changed the locks the next day. I can t remember the name of the lady who dealt with us but she was v helpful. Sorry to hear others had a bad experience - ask for Hannah (or a name like that) if calling - we can only praise the service.

We booked to view a student flat and had an appointment arranged and fully booked. We stood outside for half an hour and when nobody came we rang and they said it was because they hadn’t managed to contact the tenants. They didn’t bother to tell us this. We rearraranged the appointment for today and even after ringing half an hour before to check it was still happening nobody showed up. This company is extremely unreliable. Don’t waste your time with them.

100% do not recommend this company to rent from! Absolutely no communication from them when they say they will, for example telling me that they would ring me same day just to find out if I can get my mail from a previous landlord 3 days later I had to ring them! Sent emails and no reply from them whatsoever. Paid an admin fee at the beginning of renting from this company and they literally did nothing! It also seems they condone bad practices from their landlords, would never use this company again.

Would not recommend this agency, very hard to deal with, house was in an awful state on move in date, had not been touched for 7 months (when we first viewed the house and put the deposit down we were told it would be to the correct standard).
Very late with deposit repayment (1 month since deposit return request and still no word)
Trying to charge to "damages" requested through the year, no follow up on damages they have organised a repair for.
Not a caring company, would not recommend.
Tried to call at 9:02am and the phone lines were still closed, very unprofessional as the opening time is 9am

Great company to rent from would definitely recommend, have rented from Hackett for two and half years and just moved out. Office girls always friendly and helpful. I even had some problems with my heating and they provided heaters until the parts arrived – it wasn’t even cold! Cant recommend them enough and would definitely use again.
