I came to Martin@co for a property everyone I have dealt with have been polite and helpful Jack helped me with my paperwork and I felt very warm welcomed by Martin @co so thank you Jack. The lady staff are also very polite and friendly and was very helpful when I got stuck with paperwork they stopped at nothing to help me. Lovely caring company I have recommended them to some of my friends also.

Firstly I agree with the reviews previously made by other customers.
I actually feel for the owner who actually trusted Martin and co . I reported number of issues to the agent and nothing was done about.
For over 6 months the velux windows were leaking .
The door lock was temperamental , we were advised to put wd40 on it , luckily it’s a wet safe building so we used to leave it unlocked.
This is an apartment in valley mills in elland.
Do not rent from these cowboys and landlords they don’t care about your property.

We were very unhappy with our experiences of this outfit. We believe they totally mismanaged our property, loads of examples for instance writing to us to suggest we extend our tenants contract even though they were not paying their rent. We believe we were lied to on other occasions. Avoid this outfit.They even asked me to call them to check I had the right business!! Sort of proves my point really! I have their correspondence to us to prove it. Just give them a wide berth.

Pretend to be nice before you sign the contract and pay the money. Assure you they have corrected everything needed in the property but as soon as they got your money they don’t care about you anymore. Lee always advices you to use your money to correct everything and cancelled most of the things that needed fixing. Overall company is run by a clown. Expect an auto reply to this.
Sorry my mistake. They start calling and Harassing you and how did you call me if I was hiding???

Selling a property when you live 200 miles away was never going to be simple, especially in a pandemic, but Martin & co Huddersfield were exceptional. They Pretend to be nice before you sign the contract and pay the money, but as soon as they got your money they don’t care about you anymore, took months to repair and took your deposit for no reason. The only way to get your deposit is to dispute with the Dps or TPS I can’t remember and you probably will have to take legal action
But to be fair I like one of their staffs called William or will, always friendly and helpful but he couldn’t help much as he is responsible for something else I believe but others are really not helpful at all
Better Avoid them if you can and there are a lot of properties that you can choose

I’ve been with Martin and Co for about 1 and half years now and it’s been amazing.
When I first wanted to move into the property it was kind of a rocky start because I had about a two day gap between my previous contract and the new one so I asked them if there is a possibility I could stay in one of their properties and they said yes and it would cost me around £50 for the whole thing which seemed like a good deal. After a week they said ohh it will be £80 then a few days after they said I’ll have to pay a deposit and total £200+ and if I ask different people everyone kept telling me a different thing and it was really frustrating. I appreciate that my request was probably a little unusual but if they had just said from the start no we don’t offer that service it would’ve been better so I could make different arrangements.
However, after I actually moved into the property it has been a really good experience. The staff are very friendly, if I ever have an issue they’re really quick to get it sorted or if I have any questions or concerns they are always there to help. Really great guys. If they weren’t so good I wouldn’t have renewed my contract.
Highly recommend to anyone!

Moved into one of their buildings and within the first two weeks the hot water went off for 3 days and at the same time the WiFi wasn’t up “due to the landlord being busy”
Updating my situation, it has now been a week with “on and off” hot water where i have personally only seen the hot water being on once for about an half an hour in the morning before it went again however the internet has been fixed. Still would not recommend this letting agency and would in fact tell people to avoid doing business with them at all.
The WiFi working is also extremely poor if you’re using it for anything other than simply looking things up on google

Acted as letting agents on a property and also acted as estate agents whilst selling property.
Very professional in both aspects.
Take all the load off as a landlord and achieved an excellent rental income. Property was well-maintained throughout tenancy. A little pricey for property maintenance. Peace of mind.
Sales advice was always on point and the team made every effort to sell the property and achieved a sum I was very pleased with and in an agreed timeframe.
Overall, very nice people to deal with, professional and get the job done.
Would definitely use again.

We sold 2 properties at what was a sensitive time for us as a family. We were extremely impressed with the professionalism of the team at every point of involvement from photography of the properties and the service throughout and afterwards.
More than happy with the sale prices of both properties, one of which we accepted the asking price for on the first day it was marketed.

I have no qualms about recommending Martins to anybody. Lee, who does my Quarterly Inspections, really makes sure everything is right with my flat and does more than my actual Landlady. Yes Martins are paid by her to deal with my Tenancy, but he, the Gas and Pumbing teams have been excellent.
My only poor experience was was when a colleague of Lee's did my inspection a while ago. He made me feel like I was stupid and uncomfortable..

Martin and Co is the single worst estate agent I have ever know, I am begging you please do not use them. I rented a house with them for 9 months and it’s the worst experience I’ve ever had with an estate agents (I‘ve lives in 8 different rented houses before this one!!) despite asking ten separate times they refused to get me any access to contact my own land lord and they even told me he would visit one day and never turned up, I never once got to speak to him. I had unbelievable maintenance issues including but not limited to: lights with no fittings, a cellar that wasn’t sealed and caused a gale to blow through the whole house, damp like you wouldn’t believe, and a shower that leaked so aggressively it was causing damage to the infrastructure of the house, I emailed about all of these and they refused to fix them, I put in formal notice to their website that they needed fixing and they refused to acknowledge them. By the time I left the house wasn’t fit to live in and despite knowing this they moved someone new in within two weeks of me leaving. I also had issues that they kept calling me while I was at work despite repeatedly telling them not to. And is that the worst? Not by a long shot! The worst by far is one of the people who works there, a man by the name Lee who was the most disgustingly disrespectful person I have ever know, I don’t know how he ever got hired! Refusing to respond to emails, lying about maintenance (as if I wasn’t living in the house and knew what was wrong with it!), being rude and speaking down to me, hanging up the phone! The whole shebang! And now, after another staff member doing an inspection of the property upon me leaving it and agreeing it was completely fine, they’re trying to take nearly £200 of my deposit from me just for the sake of it. PLEASE, PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND DO NOT GO WITH MARTIN AND CO!!

Like previous reports initially very charming and accommodating but when help needed with a flooded smelly uninhabitable flat it was slow to arrive and the promised compensation as advised by uni solicitor and agreed with by Martin & CO never renumerated. I would advise to stay away from this company if you want peace of mind with your accommodation.

I had the displeasure of renting with this letting agent. This is the worst letting agency I have ever had the trouble of dealing with.
First contact with them is friendly and they appear helpful however this is a front.
I had numerous issues throughout the year, the flat was not cleaned before moving in, damp was never resolved, general maintenance issues were not addressed when reported and we were told to pay more rent than what we agreed.
We received emails from the director in Huddersfield saying we were paying the wrong amount and it should be higher however when they realized they were incorrect we received no apology from the director.
Honest avoid at all costs, recently moved and had a much easier time with a different letting agent.

Last year, a different letting agency has told me and 3 of my friends who I was supposed to live with that a house we already paid a deposit for has been taken by someone else, and that was a few days before our first day at University. We had to look for a different house and quick, and we found one through Martin And Co. At first everything seemed fine and apart from the fact that the house was a mess ( which we understood as we took it on a very short notice) everything was fine. But after a few months trouble started. Constantly no hot water, boiler not working therefore no heating. We had yellow water coming out of our sinks and showers. There was water leaking out of our boiler and we got told by e-mail to fix it ourselves using youtube. One day, we had a leak on the upstairs bedroom and water was all over the ceiling of my room. It was a Saturday and the emergency contact they provided us with, did not work. Finally, on Monday, someone came and stopped the leak. The agency then told us that they will fix my ceiling in about a week after I got told by their plumber that the ceiling could "collapse anytime". I said that IM paying for my room but I cannot sleep in it because IM afraid the ceiling will collapse and I wanted it to be fixed sooner, they said they wont do it as they have not enough staff and I have to wait a week. After a week someone finally came and fixed the ceiling but left a mess and left the ceiling brown and the walls white, nobody came to paint it back to what it was before.
After our tenancy ended, they charged us 1020 pounds from our deposit which was 1200. They said they will take 100 pounds for "De-weeding" of our frontyard even though nobody has told us before that we are responsible for that and when we moved in the front yard was literally full in weeds anyway. They wanted 320 for cleaning which we just agreed on because we had problems with our kitchen floor and carpets before we moved out, and they wanted to take 600 for 2 beds which were missing as 2 of my roommates gave the beds to the agency earlier in the year for stoppage as they had their own beds. The agency just told us they terminated the beds and we have to pay for new beds to be bought into the property. We never told anyone to terminate the beds we just wanted to store them until we move out. We also left a gaming chair in the property as we had no room to take it with us, when we asked the agency whether or not we will be able to retrieve it later they said it will be OK under their supervision, especially that one of my roommates still had an important letter on its way to the property and she wanted that aswell. Few weeks later when we called inn hen we can get the letter and the chair the main manager didn't want to talk to me even though he was a in the office and said they have no access to the property and we wont get our stuff and he wouldn't even talk to me about it just told their office guy to keep telling me he wont speak about that with me, and that was it, Martin and Co stealing money off first year students and making sure their time at University is as bad as possible. I do not recommend this agency. All it cares about is how much money they can steal off you.

Very poor company, any problems took a along time to get sorted, sometimes not getting fixed at all, when bringing this up with certain people ended up just arguing and being rude. slow to get refunds of rent that was owed, wouldn't recommend at all

Wouldn't recommend renting with this company, had issues with them on two student properties. The first house they didn't want to help me end the tenancy despite being bullied by the other tenants forcing me to pay rent when I was no longer living there. On the second property they wrongly charged almost £700 of the deposit for things that had failed to be fixed by them or the landlords from when we had moved into the property. I would suggest going through the student's union for advice with choosing accommodation.

I was a student tenant for two years with them although the first year I had no problems because the property I stayed in was managed and run by MJC residential who were great. I would advise all students to not make my mistake and to FIRST go to the student advice centre at the university so, they can been pointed in the right direction to a decent letting agent. The second year I was in a property run by them, and all I can say is both years they messed the contract up at least once which was frustrating. And then for the second year it was hell trying to get the deposits back, for a 5 bedroom house we stayed in. They unjustly tried to take £650 and I had to go through the process of the DPS to get the majority of the deposit back which was a great hassle. Overall I would definitely recommend students seek advice from the students union before making a decision on a letting agent, and most definitely stay away from these.

I couldn't recommend the team at Martin & Co highly enough. From initial contact until the property valuation the whole team were polite, professional and knowledgeable. The personal and honest way in which they do business is fantastic. Personal endorsements are of much value when looking for Estate agents, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Will , Bev and their team to any of my friends and relatives.

Pre sales staff were great. Approach with caution as the agent will happily attempt to withhold most if not all your bond just on the say so of a corrupt, rude, neglectful landlord. Going through a dispute now with the agent favouring the lies and fraud by the landlord.
Avoid the ticking time bomb!

I highly recommend Martin & Co Huddersfield. I have just completed my house sale with them and from start to finish they have been AMAZING! I often refer my business associates, friends and family to Martin & Co and i can always trust that they are 100% happy. This is for both landlords & tenants. The team work with honesty and integrity, with all dealings being professional. Tenant - landlord issues are quickly resolved and they are on the ball for collecting rents. All telephone calls are answered quickly and follow ups at all stages are made promptly. I feel that Martin & Co are a breath of fresh air in the 'letting agents' world and i have no hesitations in carrying on referring them to anyone and everyone. If you are a landlord wanting to put your property up for rent, go with Martin & Co and you won't be disappointed.

We were tenants for 11 months with Martin & Co and had an absolutely terrible experience. When we became responsible for the property, the conditions set out by the agent for themselves in our contract (e.g. repairs and decoration to the house) were not met and we had to push for these to be completed. Throughout the tenancy, the agent were unhelpful and unresponsive, often being rude in their emails to us. When our boiler broke, instead of coming out to look at it or sending someone professional round, we were provided with a YouTube video for us to deal with the situation ourselves. When moving out, we received rude emails regarding checkout advice and support and were met with extortionate charges taken from our deposit, which we appealed against and were mostly dropped. An awful experience and we would not use this agent again.
