The agent who viewed the property after my son and and I thoroughly cleaned the flat at blue hill lane in Leeds just before leaving a 5 year tenancy has told me today 11 Sept that the flat was very clean when he viewed after we left.
My son had been an exemplary tenant. Paid his rent no problem for the full five years. He was a model tenant!
Now they want £85 for a 'light clean' out of the deposit. (A LIGHT CLEAN ????). The flat needs full decoration before someone moves in. ( in my opinion ). Although I have been informed that the new tenant will decorate it for them. (Bonus for the landlord).
Rather than thanking my son for being a good tenant of 5 years. NO NOTHING LIKE THAT! It's Money on their mind. Shame on them. Was it worth £85. Arbitration will no doubt view our evidence and not allow this poor choice to try and squeeze a little more money from my son.
That's why the rental sector needs that regulation because some humans do not know how to behave. I don't rate the way that you have finished the tenancy. It is an insult. You had an opportunity to say thanks for his tenancy and wish him well. You didn't. You'd rather try get £85 for a light clean. What is a light clean? A huff and rub with a shirt sleeve? When we already cleaned the flat through. ????
Update: It seems that this may be the landlord at work and not Martin and Co. And I will contact Martin and Co to ask for support for the case of Arbitration at the DPS.
UPDATE: 18/10/2024
The DBS awarded my son all his deposit monies back plus interest. Martin and Co DID support my son in saying the flat was clean. I have upgraded the stars rating to 5. As they handled my dissatisfaction and supported the truth. To the former landlord, shame on you. You greedy ****! To others when leaving a property. Clean up, take photos and video. ????... With the exception of the owner, the majority of the team in the Leeds branch are either on the job learning, reactive instead of proactive, or lack any sense of commercial acumen (based on my six years experience of them letting our flat). Just seem to go through the motions without offering much value - after six years of dealing with sheer incompetence / laziness at times we had had enough and there are far better agents out there that offer a higher quality service at a much lower fee. Scott is lovely and great guy- had a nice time with him when he was showing me the properties- he knew what I was looking for and found me a lovely place I could call home. Nikki who is the new property manager is fantastic!! I did not have the best start to moving in due to a few issues as the apartment was left in a state and upon moving in - I found things in the apartment that I shouldn’t have and was going to post it on social media as I did not want to be liable for anything and wasn’t very happy about the state I received it in as there was a lot of tears and frustration involved to say this was the 1st time I was moving in with Martin and Co. I sent numerous pictures and videos via email as I quite upset but I was reassured by Nikki - she took care of everything- she was very active on getting results which she did and reassured me all the way and so understanding! There’s just a few things left to sort out in the place but honestly- Nikki kept me afloat - she is an true asset to this company and I wouldn’t have stayed or continued if it wasn’t for her. Thank you so much to Scott for showing me the place initially - he is very good at what he does!
