Far too much to write here but essentialy they cost us the sale of our house and the purchase of our new one due to their incompetence. Missed deadlines and failed to see and deal with potential problems due to their attitude and inability to keep on top of matters. Eilidh and Andrew in particular were never available, never returned phone calls and took multiple attempts to get replies to questions we had. Untrustworthy, incompetent and amateurish I would strongly recommend you do not use Melrose and Porteous for any aspect of your house sale if you value your mental health and finances.... Read more

Had to sell my late Father's property so I asked Melrose and Porteous to do this for me. The team worked hard and I had 17 viewings in the space of 2 weeks and a formal offer within 3 weeks of the sale going live. There were a couple of issues during the sale process that were not in our control but the team were always helpful, willing to find out information and made the process feel easy. I've never sold a property before, so I was anxious about the process; the staff at Melrose and Porteous quickly put any anxiety "to bed". If I decide to sell my property in the future, I would certainly use them again and definitely recommend other people use their services.... Read more

We have recently completed the sale of our property near Duns using Melrose &Porteous for the Estate Agents and conveyancing. From the beginning the service was excellent and very 'personable' I would call it. Debbie,Andrew and Eilidh were equally great and made the whole process pretty seamless,making contact when requested and keeping us fully updated. Completely inactive. I had to chase them constantly. Calls not returned, forms not posted. They took so long that eventually my mum's capacity to agree to the PoA came into question and I was made to jump through hoops with my mums GP to protect THEIR license. Go somewhere else. addendum: Please don't hide behind the law society. This only became an issue because you took so long and needed constant chasing.... Read more
