1 star<br>Very disappointing experience. I was genuinely interested in a property at Snow Hill Wharf and made it clear that I needed to make a decision quickly because I was viewing other apartments.<br>I was told that the agency was having difficulty arranging access for an in-person viewing and that I would be kept updated as developments occurred. I also specifically asked whether the landlord could be flexible on the move-in date because of the delay, and I was told they simply did not know.<br>I later discovered myself that the property had been marked as Let Agreed on Rightmove, without anyone from the agency bothering to update me.<br>Properties move quickly and I understand that another tenant may be chosen, but leaving an interested applicant waiting while progressing the property elsewhere, after promising to keep them informed, is poor communication and very unprofessional.<br>Based on my experience, I would not rely on this agency for clear or timely communication.<br><br>Part 2, my dear...<br>Your response is a remarkable example of how to turn a legitimate customer complaint into an exercise in avoiding accountability.<br>What you failed to mention publicly is that, on 5 October, Patrick Backos contacted me by email about this review. He acknowledged that communication from your side had been unsatisfactory, apologised, admitted your agency had fallen short, and asked me to consider removing my negative review because he felt it did not fairly reflect your service.<br>I declined, and stand by that decision. Your public response now disputes the very communication failure your representative had already acknowledged privately. Which version should prospective customers believe: the private apology or the public claim that my criticism is unfair?<br>Pierre explicitly told me twice in writing that he would keep me updated as developments occurred. I have the WhatsApp conversation to prove it. The property becoming Let Agreed was not a minor development; it was the most important update an interested applicant could receive. Yet nobody informed me. I discovered it myself on Rightmove.<br>Your explanation that you cannot individually contact every prospective tenant is irrelevant. I expected your agent to honour the commitment he personally made. The fact that the property was let through another agency, as Patrick explained, changes nothing. Your inability to secure access, arrange a viewing or communicate the outcome was not my responsibility.<br>Your agency had time to contact me to request removal of a negative review, but not to tell me that the property I was actively enquiring about was unavailable. That says more about your priorities than any one-star review.<br>A professional agency would acknowledge the criticism and improve. Instead, you have disputed an experience your own representative had apologised for. Customers are entitled to leave honest reviews, including negative ones, to inform future customers rather than protect a company’s preferred image.I have retained the relevant WhatsApp messages and email correspondence supporting everything stated here....My review will remain exactly where it is. Your response, together with your private admission of poor communication and request to remove my review, has only reinforced my original opinion.Perhaps next time a customer raises a legitimate concern, your priority should be improving the service rather than persuading them to remove evidence of their experience.<br>??????

Romans & Partners is the worst agent I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Do not rent through them. They left me without hot water for nearly three months, ignored my emails, proposed raising my rent, and then attempted to deduct a total of £1,395 from my deposit.<br><br>At the end of my tenancy, they tried to charge me for:<br>1) £360 for cleaning, revised to £250 only after I requested the invoice. No explanation was given for the discrepancy.<br>2) £500 for hot water bills, despite no final bill existing and no invoice ever being provided. They later told the deposit scheme assessor they had no evidence of the bills, even suggesting it was my responsibility to provide it.<br>3) £200 for minor scratches to the flooring.<br>4) £250 for detached door handles — a maintenance issue I had reported to them and they failed to fix. Withdrawn after I challenged it.<br>5) Charges for items left behind by the previous tenant that I had removed during my tenancy. Withdrawn after I challenged them. I can only wonder how charges are calculated for items they did not own.<br><br>I raised a formal dispute with the deposit scheme. The £500 heating charge was dismissed entirely. A charge for minor flooring scratches was reduced from £200 to £40. Every charge that was challenged was reduced or dropped entirely.<br><br>If you are unlucky enough to rent with them, request invoices for everything, check every charge against your check-in inventory, and use the deposit scheme. With Romans & Partners, you will need it.

Saw a previous review that said “great sales team but terrible property management,” and I honestly couldn’t agree more. The five-star reviews seem to be incentivised through a prize draw, but once the contracts are signed and the deposits and rent advances are paid, it’s complete radio silence.<br><br>Our property was managed by Monica, and I genuinely cannot overstate how rude, incompetent, and unprofessional she was. At one point we literally had a shouting match on the phone after we withdrew our offer to renew the tenancy—something we were entirely within our rights to do, as no contracts had been signed.<br><br>On multiple occasions she was intentionally obtuse and extremely difficult to deal with, particularly when it came to our deposit refund. We moved out last September, agreed the deposit deductions in January (some of which she initially tried to charge us for even though the damage had clearly been caused by previous tenants—fortunately we had documented the condition of the flat when we moved in), and only actually received the money this week, in March.<br><br>I’ve attached photos of the state of the apartment when we first moved in and it was honestly appalling. We had to request repairs and servicing ourselves because it clearly hadn’t been done after the previous tenants moved out — which, we found out from the previous tenant was literally the day before we moved in.<br><br>If you find a property you like in the area, I’m sure there are other letting agencies you can go with. It really isn’t worth the hassle of dealing with them.<br><br>Update: After posting my review, I was contacted by Patrick to discuss my experience. At his own initiative, he sent a hamper and asked me to consider removing the review. While I appreciated the gesture, I was disappointed that I had not received an apology from the individuals responsible for my experience. It was only after I raised this point that apologies were offered.<br><br>The reason I am now updating this review is that, after deciding not to remove it, I received a formal notice alleging that my review was defamatory. The notice stated that if I did not take it down, I would hear from their legal advisers at Mishcon de Reya without further notice, with instructions to pursue all available remedies, including a claim for damages. The fact that they’re so determined to remove negative reviews should give you a clear sense of the kind of people you’re dealing with.<br><br>I would encourage anyone leaving a critical review of Romans and Partners to ensure that their statements are accurate and that they have evidence to support their claims.

My experience with this company has been absolutely awful. Our tenancy had a plethora of issues but I will focus on some of the most recent.<br><br>An attempt was made to deduct almost a third of our deposit citing damage in the flat that we did not cause, and had in fact been present from before we moved in. This resulted in a 6 month long back-and-forth between us to resolve, and only when we presented photographic evidence of the damage from the time we moved in were these charges taken off and deposit returned. Also, my flatmate was subjected to an incredibly unprofessional phone call during our tenancy by a representative at this company where voices were raised, for which she received a written apology only after she explicitly asked for one (months after the fact, right after she left them a negative review).<br><br>I also left a review detailing my experience, but this was first met with repeated attempts to discuss the problems faced, and to “find a way for [me] to remove [my] review”. After I stated I am not interested in going through their internal complaints procedure nor discussing the issues at length over the phone, I was asked “what is the aim of a review if not to seek a resolution?” As I said in response, the aim of my review was not to acquire remedies that would presumably be on offer had I gone through the complaints procedure, but to share my experience of a company, the same way all public forum business reviews do.<br><br>Then, after it become clear I would not be removing my review, I was handed a “formal notice”, claiming my review was “defamatory” (screenshot attached). This made me feel intimidated. The legal pressure of this notice made me feel obliged to delete the review, especially as they initially gave me until the end of the business day to delete it (having sent the notice in the morning). They also said that my decision to bypass their internal complaints procedure and write my review "is a choice that does not reflect well and one you will need to account for if this matter proceeds” (attached). I felt I am well within my rights to share this review, especially as there is no legal requirement to first exhaust internal complaints procedures in these circumstances.<br><br>I have been left not only extremely disappointed, but also shocked and appalled that this is the extent they have gone to. In my experience with estate agents, these were by far the worst ones I had the displeasure of dealing with.

With his help I was able to choose a new house in just two days, it is worth mentioning that I was not in the UK for two months before moving in and it was Pierre-Yves who helped me organise everything, very friendly, patient, enthusiastic and efficient! He even helped me complete my check in on the night I arrived in the UK, which wasn't even his working hours! The whole process was unbelievably smooth with his help!
