I've had multiple dealings with estate agents having to move / rent at least 7 times and Shires has been the worst, most inconsiderate, most unattentive and most unkind. Following our initial viewing, we've never had any inventory check with them after having to delay our move in and telling us that they've had to do "maintenance" on the property (yeah, right!). I do regret allowing them to just hand us the keys on the day we moved in without anyone checking the property with us on the day. Trying to get anything sorted or fixed takes months and what any other agency would have considered urgent such as mains water leaks and a broken smoke detector / fire alarm, for Shires was no urgent matter. Funny thing is by the time we've finally left the property, they were trying to put the issues that were already there on us specifically the damage caused by the water leak amongst multiple others. Luckily we've saved images and emails from then. They even had a very old, worn curtain with a massive stain that was in the property on the day we moved in which no sensible person would still use thus we just put it away then back when we moved out which they then also pointed out on the check out inventory as us causing. Don't even get me started on how our move out process went as that was the most stressful time. I am just so glad that we don't have to deal with them anymore and I will make sure to let all my friends and family know to avoid them at all costs!

AVOID!! Been an absolute nightmare as one of their tenants.
We moved out of the property a month ago and still waiting to hear anything about the deposit, getting no response to emails and having to constantly chase them and getting poor excuses back, we left the house is great condition so no excuse for it.
On top of that we had carbon monoxide leaks told wont be fixed as not dangerous enough to damage us. We had a boiler repair man come by and he told us we never should’ve passed gas safety check as how poor and old-condition the whole system, with a bunch of stuff that was out of regulation. Informed them and nothing sorted they didn’t care. Landlord was also turning up on property without warning for months, letting himself tend to garden at early hours of the morning very noisily, took many complaints to stop this.
Convinced the only reason they have good reviews on here is because they ask tenants to leave a review upon signing the tenancy initially. Worst UK agency i’ve ever dealt with
UPDATE- we had to go direct to the deposit service to even get them to start the process, they tried charging us for issues we had nothing to do with which we refuted and eventually they gave us our deposit back, almost 3 months after moving out and having left their property immaculate. Then they had the cheek to ask us to remove this review. Terrible company, stick to one of the reputable companies in the area and save yourself a lot of hassle

Absolutely Shocking, they ask you for personal Details to decide wether your good enough to view one of their properties and then they tell you the viewings are fully booked. How come there are many agents that don’t ask this information before a viewing?

I lived in a property for two years that was managed by Shires. From the first day of correspondence, life was made easier by the staff in the Mildenhall office. Callie, in particular, was always lovely and helpful. I never had any problems while living there. Any minor issues within the home were either immediately addressed or even proactively prevented in some cases. I was always assured a peace of mind and that was priceless to an over-thinker like me. I have to move back home to the USA now. But I will miss living in that house and I’m grateful to Shires for ensuring I had a home away from home.

Please if you have any sense, DO NOT go anywhere near this lot. Rented me out a property which wasnt fit for an animal to live in. Had to get enviromental health out to prove me correct. No repairs were done, and the landlady is totally dillusional, thinks her house is a palace, when its actually falling to bits. Black mould everywhere, no heating, just to name a few on an massive list. Oh and good luck with getting a deposit back. Rude staff and not very helpful, but very quick to take your money

They did a good job. Very easy to work with and show let houses. Not too great with responding and communication back, so you have to call them quite a bug to get answers. Overall an okay experience. They do have let houses in great condition and nice neighborhoods. I would recommending if you are military and need to let a house. I would recommend to the Shires to strengthen better communication channels when people are interested.

I first used the services of Shires Residential back in July 2007, when I purchased two 'buy to let' properties and recently used their services again (December 18) to sell one of these properties. There are estate agents …..and then there is Shires Residential, who, in my opinion are light years ahead of their opposition, not just in in terms of the quality of their service, but equally, their polite, courteous and extremely helpful way in which they deal with their customers. Whatever rates they might charge, I'm not only guided by cost, but I also look at value for money, which I strongly feel that Shires always provide. This is why I will always go back to them, period. Special mention to Richard Carrington and Sue Williams, both of whom I have had the pleasure to meet and work with over the years. They are both honest, helpful, friendly, trustworthy and hard working people...what more could you ask for?

Having purchased my property through Shires originally and having a very pleasant experience then I was more than happy to sell it through them. I dealt with Sue originally and dealt with both her and Sophie when selling. Rhys who came out to value the property was great and knew a lot about the area and properties that were similar to mine.
Excellent service and communication throughout. Very professional and knowledgeable about the whole process and they went out of their way to push on both the sale and purchase including speaking to both sets of solicitors. Shires may be great if you are the landlord but if you are the tenant you are a second class citizen. For military people the fact that they are the only outfit in town charging you a lease signing fee should tell you all you need to know. Repairs are done poorly with no concern for safety of tenants- and there is no recourse for disputes with security deposits. Stay away and find a management company or landlord that gives a damn.

To be honest five stars is not enough for the service I received. Tria was brilliant, constantly keeping me in the loop with weekly updates either by phone or email. Maintaining regular contact with my selling agent despite their lapsidasical attitude. Everything from first viewing to completion was made so much less harrowing with her dedication. There was even a good luck in your new home card when I moved in which is a lovely idea. I would definitely use Shires if I ever decided to give up my gorgeous view, although I think Tria knows this will never happen. :)
